Oh, my Gosh! What a huge change in the after pictures! I LOVE everything you two did to redo the house! Bathroom and laundry are absolutely gorgeous, and how smart is that to have a wall mounted ironing board! I know you are loving all the changes. Can't wait to see the next blog with all the changes in the rest of the house! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh wow, I would just love a wall mounted ironing board too. What a blessing that would be! I'm looking forward to the day that it will be possible! No wonder I wait forever before I start getting caught up with all the ironing! Looks so good what you've done. Now it'll be so neat to see your other improvements! Oh, that makes one feel so good, doesn't it?! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Saw ENT and doing well.

Friday, May 24, 2013

My ENT said my ear is healing nicely and not too worry. He sched. an hearing test for me at the end of June. Hopefully all will be OK and my hearing will return to its normalcy. Since I have had some hearing lost over the years due to ageing and too much "Rock & Roll" aka loud music. I know it will not be perfect but hopefully I will not have lost anymore hearing than what is normal for my age. Keep my fingers crossed.
The inside of the house is just about completed and today the guys and a few of my hubby's friends are working on the backyard. Jeff rented a rototiller and they all took turns turning the dirt.
We finally found a great spot under the tree to put Lucy Dogs ashes ( she has been gone over 3 yrs now and I miss her everyday). It was a favorite spot of her's to lie about in the back yard. I had won a nice doggy urn from a home show here in town. It is natural and earth friendly. You can use these for people too and they decorate them with any design. They can be used in water where they degrade in under an hour, and in soil in about 2 - 3 months. Lucy's had cute lite brown doggy paw prints all over it. It was a nice day to bury my favorite dog.
Got to go ear some lunch and get some housework done.

So glad you are healing well. Hoping for a good report in June. You lost Lucy about the time we lost Angel. Our hearts still ache for her even with our 2 rescues to take some of the sorrow away. Take care and follow Dr's. orders!!

Sounds like you will be okay with your ear!
That is special you will have a place for Lucy near you.
We went the opposite way. They gave us Bendix's ashes sealed in a plain urn. As he was a dog happiest roaming in the off leash dog area, we wanted to scatter them over the spot where he flushed out the most wildlife to chase. Got to admit, the first try they were unable to smash the urn and had to take it back home to try find a way in. I think my step dad took a sledge to it. So Mom and I went back with it and she scattered his ashes in his favorite place. She went home and I took a commemorative walk one last time, imagining Bendix romping beside me, going off to chase the odd critter, but always eventually returning to walk a spell with us. It was a gorgeous day. So miss his incredible energy and spirit.

Glad that you're under the care of an ENT for your ear. Nothing like having a specialist in the field. Hope that your hearing returns, too!
What a huge moment! The house almost done? Wonderful! I know that you are more than ready for that!
Awwww, so sweet that you got that urn for Lucy Dog. Perfect spot for her final resting place. Need LOTS of photos of the house, before and after! emoticon

May 18, 2013 As life goes on. What the heck is wrong with people?

Saturday, May 18, 2013

Last time I was on 5/3/13 I stated I was back. Still haven't started following what I eat and not tracking. Went to my pulmonary doctor for yearly breathing test, it was good but I gained 5 more pounds. Ouch. I started using Sensa for 2 weeks and watching what I ate and exercising more and gained weight, so for me it didn't work at all. What's with that? Oh I know, just another BS product for losing weight. Except I know people who lost using it, didn't change a thing they did food or exercise wise and still lost weight for first 2 weeks. One lost 6 and the other 9. Back to Sparks and the old fashion way to get those pounds off.
We had our floor installed and looks beautiful. Pasted inspection and started refinancing the house, which should go through fast, we hope. We purchased our cabinets from Lowes on 18 months with no interest and need to get the money so we don't get charge another $3000 dollars. Stress and more stress.
What the heck is wrong with people?
Tuesday morning after my shower I was cleaning my ears (which I always do very carefully) but I got the hic-cups at the wrong time and poked my ear. It was just a fast ouch and then I seemed OK. I went about cleaning the outside windows and doing a bunch of cleaning jobs. Came into the bathroom a few hours later and noticed, what I thought was dirt on my earlobe. Only later that evening did I realize my ear had been bleeding all day. Put cotton in it for the night and checked it after a few hours, still blood. We looked online the next morning and because I am on blood thinners, all sites said to see a doctor ASAP.
So get this, I call my ENT specialist and tell the woman on the phone what's going on. I couldn't get an appointment until Monday. I asked if she could send in a nurse to speak to the doctor and get back to me on what was best to do. So says "No we can't do that", (which surprised me because I have never heard that from a doc's office b/4). So I say "I'll bite. Why not?". Her answer " Well if we did that, the doctor would want to see you right away, and we don't have any appointments available this week."??? You need to go to the ER or Urgent this evening. I made the appointment for Monday at 11:45am, which they have already called and changed to 2pm same day. Same snotty girl, when I tried to tell what they had told me at urgent care, she said don't tell me, wait and tell the doctor when you see him. Not too impressed with his new office staff but I have seen him for over 15+ years.
So Wednesday evening we go up to urgent care. Took about 2 hrs. to get to see a PA (Steve) every nice guy. He takes one look in my ear (which is still bleeding), drops the scope with the light still on, onto the table and blots out of the room. I'm like "Hey, what up?!", Steve says I'll be right back I want to get the doctor. He comes back in about 10 mins., say where do you want me to send this prescription and you need to see a specialist right away. Told him my story and he was a bit shocked at how the receptionist at the ENT's office handled the situation. So I can't hear much out of my left ear, and should hopefully heal up on its own. If it really bad, they do surgery. Not what I really needed. Guess I should be glad I went back to college to learn to be a Sign Language Interpreter, pretty rusty because haven't used since 2009. lol Will we see what happens on Monday. Peace & blessing to all.

Oof! So sorry to hear about your troubles...especially as I'm relatively new to Coumadin myself. No such headaches as yet...hopefully won't have anything like that pop up!

And yep...Sensa, whatever...if there was a successful magic bullet to lose weight POOF! we wouldn't have any more fat people around! :-)

Cheers to living a SPARKED life!

I get many ear infections...pain in the, well - ear! Also have 'guides whispering' all the time in my left ear (tinnitus)

As far as Sensa not working for you...I had the same thing with Metabolife. First time it worked great. Went off of it when all the hoopla about the dangers was going on, went back on some time later and it did nothing.

I'm convinced, dear, that it's all in what you believe. Maybe the people who Sensa worked for really BELIEVED it was going to work.

Have you ever tried affirmations? My fav is, "Every day in every way, I'm getting better and better." Now affirmations have been PROVEN millions of times. I've gotta start again...

I'm so sorry......I would mention what was said to you when you do get to see the doctor. The office staff has no business deciding who the doctor should see in an emergency like yours. Keeping my fingers crossed that you won't need surgery and that it heals quickly. Take care

Oh I so hate office staff, all too often they are on a power trip, thinking they are the ones who decides who needs to see the Dr.
I too, was told never to stick things in my ears, big no no. I do hope you can heal naturally. Surgery is not much fun.
That has to be the longest running reno project ever you have been dealing with. Is it finally nearing completion at long last? It would drive me bananas having my space and peace continually in a state of upheaval.
All fad diets do for you is waste your money. Sparkpeople's trackers is all I need to toe the line. Two years maintaining since February, in spite of the usual health bumps (bone scan showed three new disease activity sites) along the road.
Welcome back, you can do this!!

Wow, what an experience!! I wonder if the Dr. knows his staff is treating pts. that way! I know I would get to that appt. and tell him how dissatisfied I would be with that kind of service. My Dr. office sends the calls to the nurse or her voice mail, never questioning when I call! Hoping the eardrum heals with little scarring! emoticon

So sorry that your ear is hurting, I hope they at least gave you some pain medication! Do what the doctor says, and take care of you!
How about pictures of the remodel? I am excited to see some when you get them!

Motivator is back! I hope lol

Friday, May 03, 2013

Ok one and all I am coming back to Sparks after being gone almost a year. Yes you heard correctly. I gained all the weight I lost back over the last year. Will be starting from scratch, as they say.
The last year has not been a good for me. The stress of home remodeling took its tole on me and I went into a depression, funk like state. Not wanting to do much of anything, I wasn't feeling well because of my ankle injury. I bowled on winter and summer league but had to leave because my ankle couldn't take the pain anymore. I had surgery in Dec. 2012, was in a cast for 2 weeks and got the ok to exercise at the end of March, 2013.
One problem is that whenever I do anything hiking over 2-3 miles I suffer greatly for the following 3-5 days. I get so much pain in my legs and lower back I can barely stand or walk. I will discuse this with my Rhuematologist at my next visit. I know I could go early but once I feel better, I know it isn't a Lupus Flare because the pain would not go away. I keep walking and moving as much as possible during that time frame but I end up taking a lot of Tylenol which does do the trick for pain. I am unable to take IBprofen type stuff because of kidney dysfunction. Hubby thinks is RA acting up and maybe they will have to start putting me on some type of RA meds. I have so much bad luck with drugs reactions, there is not a lot I can take.
The home remodeling is suppose to be done by end of May/early June. Crossing my fingers. I keep worrying about things your can change. Namely Money, Money and more Money. for those not familiar with my you can find old blogs from around June 2011 - June 2012 with titles like home construction ext. for those interested in seeing what the old house looked like. I will be posted new pics soon. I haven't even upload pics from my camera in over a year. lol So finally this 2 years project will be mostly done. Of course the husband wants to do the rest of the house in about a year. Ouch! I am so over this house redo. lol Ok by for now. Hope you all have a nice weekend.
Now that my laptop is fixed I will be on here hopefully a few times a week, if not everyday.
xo
This picture was taken last weekend with my hubby. Shows how much weight I gained. Ouch!

Have you tried walking stick? They aid in walking and they will keep you from swinging side to side which is not good for the joints

Glad to have you back. Your hubby looks much happier about the remodeling than you do, that's for sure! But men usually are because they don't have to look at the bills that need to be paid every day. That is why I am thankful I now have the money to pay the bills at my house and my parents can concentrate one fixing, not remodeling. FIXING is a whole other ballgame with a much longer list! LOL!

I too had to start all over after regaining 70 lbs. This is the LAST time I will lose this weight because i REFUSE to regain it all again. I am sorry that the house redo was so hard on you. I hope you are ahead of all of that now (or rather that it's behind you :) ) I hope your RA is not the culprit. I know what you mean about being in pain when you walk. I had both hips replaced and now can't stand to walk for longer than two minutes. NOT a good feeling!
Dig in. Get your feet wet.
ANd let the games begin!

Will be returning to site soon

Sunday, August 26, 2012

Ok I had a horible summer, gained all my weight back plus a couple of pounds. I will be starting over once again. This time I will be much more careful to not gain it back yet again. Start on Monday with walking per doctor, take it slow. He was not surprised with all the stress I have been under. Still bowling but could be doing better. Injuried my ankle, then other problems that kept me from doing cardio for a few months. Pounds kept coming back on. First 5, then 10, then another 10 and so on, this time 9 pounds in about 2 months. Oh well win some lose some. House is still not completed and still living in only 1/3 of house plus lots of mold found in hallway, from last fall when house got water down the walls ect. No wonder haven't felt well and tired out. Will show some more pictures at some point. Haven't been spending too much time on the computer. Maybe a few times a month. Bye for now.

I rejoined our Fibro team, and saw this blog. I also saw where in March you were going to leave and glad you didn't. I left for about six months, just turned my page off, but am back again. I would imagine the mold would definitely make you sick. Please be VERY careful with that stuff. Check the internet about it as it can really make one sick. I'm glad you're back, and taking it slow. I hadn't worked out in over six months, and have decided to just walk since it's so nice in the mornings now, and not push too much on the ST so as to not hurt myself.
