Sanding drywall and past another inspection on the house.

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

We had another inspection this morning and past so were able to pour concrete in the last form. All the others were done months ago but his one was located under the front hall next to the entry door, so we put it off for as long as possible. I took Phred for a walk while the inspector was here. He hates strangers and it is just easier to take him out when these people show up.
I did scraping all around the new windows and then after lunch we all starting sanding down the drywall. Jeff is out in the new area right now putting another layer of mud on the walls so we can do all again tomorrow. I can in first to shower and get dinner started. We all were covered head to toe in white sand. What a mess. We used our compressor to blow all the sand off as much as possible b/4 heading into the house. It is sort of funny feeling, cold air but does the trick, pretty much. That's about it for tonight. Not going to stay on site much tonight, pretty tired out. My arms are killing me and I keep getting a pain along my right side of my rib cage. Must have pulled something.

The house is gonna be incredible! I can see where you're going with it... and I'm sooo jealous. I hope you got enough done before the rains came.

WOW! That sounds like you did a lot of work today! You need a hot tub to relax in! Glad all went well with the inspection and you can continue to get it all finished. It certainly has been a long hall for you guys. Take care and get a little R&R to rest those muscles.

Sounds like you are coming right along on your house. So sorry your side hurts, but that sanding is hard work. I'll bet you'll feel better by morning! Hope it doesn't affect your bowling game! emoticon

Busy last few days

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Got a call from my friend Precilla to come and bowl with her, her friend Michelle and the kids on Sunday morning. The kids bowled 1 game, P and I bowled 2 and after they left I bowled another 4 games. I did just awful when the kids were there. I am always worried about them running up or behind me when they have the lane next to us. After the P and the gang left my games improved.

After I got home and was eating lunch I realized I had received a call on my cell from a number I didn't recognize. Just recently my cousin Paul had found me on FB and we got in touch with each other. He said he hoped to come down from the San Fernando Valley to visit with us sometime. He wanted to come down and take the family out to dinner. The boys are too busy working on the house to go out (according to my DH) and encouraged me to go with my cousin.

Paul and I went to Polly's, which I knew he would love. Polly's makes all food from scratch and the pies are to die for. He wanted Rhubarb and was thrilled to see it on the pie menu. The joke when we were kids, was when I came to visit they had to hide the Rhubarb out in the garden or I would pick all of it and eat it raw. lol I had a nice dinner (salmon, rice and cream spinach with corn bread) but couldn't resist having a piece of pie. Should have had Rhubarb with Paul but I wanted to try the Pumpkin cheese cake. Unfortunately, they were out after I ordered but they still have chocolate cream. I didn't eat all of it, just most. lol

Yesterday was just one of those days that I didn't seem to get anything done, but did a lot. Laundry, changed sheets on beds, towels in bathroom. Would start something and then jump to something else. Got a lot of nothing done. lol Didn't remember to weigh my food in the morning or at lunch, sort of blew the day away. It showed in my weigh in this morning because I gained back 1 pound of the 4 I lost last week.

Went bowling today on league. My avg. right now is 117 and for the first time I exceeding my avg. on every game. 127, 139 & 124 not fantastic games but I had a 390 pin count for 3 games, which avg. out to 130 a game. I hope to break 400 soon. So all my practicing is paying off for me.

Ok that's about it for now. Hope you all have a great last couple of days too.!

Isn't that special meeting your cousin!! Sometimes that Facebook really pays off for people meeting long lost relatives.. Sounds like an awesome place to eat -I rarely see rhubarb and I really love it! Mom made me a lot of rhubarb stew this summer in deference to my weight concerns, far less calories than the pie..
Sounds like you are getting a handle on the bowling! Way to go!!

emoticonThat is great that you got to spend that time with your cousin!
You are doing well with your bowling! When I bowled all the time (many years ago) my average was 133. I was never very good! You are doing great! emoticon

Cool River Walk

Saturday, January 14, 2012

River walk today was 7.25 miles round trip. It was in the mid 50's when we started and the sun was under a dark cloud cover. It warmed up a bit after the first hour but still cool. After the walk my friend Irene and I went over to IHOP for breakfast.
Came home, showered and watch "Misery" that my son Jory had loaned to our other son Frank. It had been many years since I saw this movie. Then took Phred for a walk. Made dinner and then I started watching a lot of the shows that I had been dvr'd this past week. I still have 2 more to see. Thats about it folk. Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Love it when cities and villages take advantage of their rivers by putting RiverWalks along them! Binghamton has a nice one which I'm hoping they'll expand and add onto in years to come!

We tried to get to the River Walk in San Antonio when we drove through just after Christmas and it was packed with waiting lines. Couldn't even drive trhough the area. Very popular with the Christmas lighting. I don't know if yours is similr to this one or not but there is a lot of beauty on the walk.

I am trying to catch up on the DVR'd shows here too! Have a few more to watch tonight but will finish this one and then off to bed!! Have a great week, Teri!!

Fantastic walk! Don't have an IHOP here which is probably a good thing when I saw the calories in their meals. But I sure did enjoy trying them out on a trip I was on to Hawaii..
Enjoy your shows, and have a super Sunday!

Last showing of OLTL", Friday the 13th, and chore I had been putting off.

Friday, January 13, 2012

Decided to go through the closet in the kitchen. I have been putting this off for a while because it has been a while since I have cleaned it out. lol I keep my cookbooks in there, along with plastic plates, knifes, spoons, forks, etc. paper goods, a lot of gift boxes and somewhere in the back was my steamer that I couldn't get too. I also have been putting recipes in there for a while. They had gather into a large pile in the bottom of the closet. There is a lot of stuff in there but I think you all get the idea.
I threw a bunch of stuff away. I even found a cheap set of silverware, (that I didn't even know I had) and never remember ever seeing b/4. They were pretty with blue handles but not made well. The will go to charity. I was glad to get all the stuff out of there. I have so many cookbooks too and now a whole box of recipes I have gotten from various places that fit into a shoebox. lol

Did some cleaning up , walked Phred and then watched "One Life to LIve". Do you think the powers that be at ABC decided on Friday the 13th on purpose?? Seems just a bit planned to me. Was glad to hear that some characters will be showing up in Port Charles on GH. They did an infusion of new characters right about now, like a hole in the head. We shall see how it all works out??

Going to bed a bit early tonight. Have a river walk with Irene in the morning. Our weather is cooling off and they expect some rain, maybe, by Sunday. Hope you all drink your water today??

Glad you got the closet cleaned out, emoticon

I really can't discuss the soap with you though, as being a working girl, I never get to see them! I know a lot of people are upset that particular one is being taken off the air! Sorry, but maybe you have another favorite?

Hope you had a great walk this morning! emoticon emoticon

I think it was genius how they sent John, Blair, Todd and Star to GH. I think that show needs some help and hope they will help it! I will really miss it, but this kind of helped me get over the loss a bit!
I need to get started on my spring cleaning! Good for you! And for going on a walk! I love Walking!!!!

    Teri,

Like you, I watched the last episode of OLTL. It will be interesting to see how the OLTL characters get written into GH.

Took the car over to our transmission guy.

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Jeff has been noticing for the last couple of weeks that my car (1981 Corvette) was dripping a little transmission fluid. He asked me stop by Roys Transmission in Fullerton on the way home from bowling on Tuesday, for the owner Frank to take a look at. He was supper busy and asked me to bring by this morning. I dropped it off and walked home. Jeff and Frank @ Roys were both surprised that I would walk home. It is not that far from home and turned out to be 2.12 miles on my pedometer and took me 37 min with about 5 signals. I do that long of a walk most days with Phred. I thought about taking him with me, but he is awful in the car and get so nervous on busy streets that I thought I would be able to do it faster myself. I was breaking a small sweat when I got home. It was a warm day and I was glad I brought along a hat to wear.

Got home and starting dusting when Jeff asked me to make lunch for the 3 of them (Jeff, Frank & Jory). Jory came home again to help out with the house.
Finish dusting and it was time for "One Life to Live" to come on. Only one more day and this soap that I have been on and off watching since 1968 will be gone. Sort of sad for me, I think I will miss this one more that "All My Children". So sad for all us soap fans.

Did the vacuuming and then took Phred for a walk. Took a early shower so I could wash and dry my hair. Made sloppy Joes for the men and I had a Lean Cuisine dinner, we all had salad.

Still have no idea what , if anything is wrong with the car. Most likely because Frank@Roys has been so busy lately he may have the car a few days.

Certainly hope your car is okay. They are sometimes a little expensive to keep them going but one likes them too much to let them go:)

I have never be one to watch soaps so i won't miss them at all but I know many people that watch and will have to go through withdrawal!! LOL

I think I put in 2 miles today! Need to get a pedometer and stop "guestimating" my foot steps. I know I am 350 steps from our post box and 375 from the pool which is on the south end of the hall where many of the activities take place here in the resort.

Hope the car isn't a huge price hit for you :( Well done walking it home! Oh boy, sloppy joes! I haven't had those since I was a kid, men are so lucky, they can eat anything!!!
Sorry you are losing your favorite soap, hope you find something interesting to replace it. I always wondered how they could make those shows last for so long with the actors growing old, etc..
Have a fantastic Friday!!
