Things have been going a bit slow on the house remodel because Jeff keeps getting called into work. Thats a good thing but we are now a couple of weeks behind in our progress. Had a 3rd inspection today and past, now we will start putting back up walls in one are of the house to build the new kitchen, laundry and bath. After all that is done we will demo the current kitchen area and hopefully be pretty much done by November.
As long as the weather holds and we don't get early rains we will be alright. We do have the Santa Ana winds to worry about come Sept., Oct. & Nov. I hope there are no big fires in our area because that would really suck. I remember in the fall of 1970 having to walk to school in pouring ash from fires that surrounded my hometown of Thousand Oaks, CA. They finally canceled classes after 2 days of going to school in the bad air. Too many students started to have breathing problems. Duh!
I have had good days and bad over the last 2 months. I keep having stomach problems and could be either stress from the house construction (although I don't feel stressed about it) but with Lupus, you never know. Or the current medication I have been on since 4/09 for my kidneys is giving me side effects. I looked it up on the net and I am betting that is my problem. I see my doctor on the 25th and will talked to him about this.
Talk to you all later. Hope everyone is getting in their exercise mins and drinking enough water too!
Well this week Jeff worked Mon-Thursday and Frank & him are doing some stuff to get ready for a concrect pour (hopefully on Monday). We are a bit behind but making money while we are spending money is a good thing. Also keeping up the bank hours for insurance is a big releaf for us. I have had his union insurance for a few months and it looks like we are good until at least Sept or Oct. at this point. Of course he will have more work b/4 than so it looks like we may be good for the rest of the year. You have to bank at leasst 135 hours a month to get the insurance. Our insurance company through his union changed at the beginning of the year to Aetna (which we don't really like too much, so far). We had Pricipal Life for 18 yrs and it was great. My friend Cora also has Aetna now and she hasn't been too happy with it either. I do think we have better coverage than what her hubby has from Boeing.
I made it to the gym on Monday and Thursday and used my stair stepper on Tuesday. I plan on using the SS again this evening too.
Getting a lot of nice walks with Phred the wonder dog too. He had his hair cut the other day and I think he is much more comfortable in the heat. He is such a
handsome dog, happy at home with us, just wish he got along better with other dogs and our human friends that come over. LOL Thats about it for now but know that I will be working on the house tomorrow.
We have had a slow week on progressing on the house. Jeff has gotten called into work a few times over the last couple of weeks. Which is a good thing. The weather has been pretty hot every after noon, so he takes a nap after lunch. Which really means my son and I also get a break. Thanks goodness we don't have the humidity that everyone else gets in the mid west and east coast. I hope the weather gets better for all my friends who live in these areas. Keep cool and drink plenty of water, OK
My good friend and neighbor Rosa is losing their home. Her daughter Frieda is like a grandchild to me. I am so sad, they have done everything but once again they are over 3 months behind on payments. The bank has already adjusted the home a couple of times, they are just too under water right now to keep making the payments. The home is lovely and was remodeled when they moved in just about 10 yrs. ago. They signed to put the home on a short sale. It could take months and we are all hoping the bank lets them stay for a while. Better to have a family in the house then for it to stand empty for months. Just have to wait and see how long they are allowed to stay. So many have lost so much. I hope something happens soon to turn this bad economy around.
Hugs to all.
Feeling so much better, even doing a little bit of walking without feeling light headed or like I am going to throw up.
We had our first inspection on the house and we past. Now we can pour our first concret and start putting the house back together. Of course once we are done with this half, and the new kitchen installed. Then it is the other half we will have to work on by removing the old kitchen. Weather has been warm but not overly hot here, which we are glad for. I know the week we took down all the walls it was 95+ everyday but dry. I hear from my friends in the mid-west and east that the weather has been just awful. I hope things cool off for you soon.
Jeff got called into work yesterday (Monday), Thursday and Friday. We ran a bunch of errands this morning and I also went to Loews for him and then did the marketing. I came home and raked dirt for a couple of hours to get the new porch area as level as I could get it.
Tomorrow I have to go get some blood work (Pro-time because I take blood thinners) and pick up a note from my doctor. I got another jury duty summons. My doctor won't let me do them because of the TIA I had in 2004 and possible blood clots from sitting in one place for extended periods of time. Even on a plane I have to get up and stretch, I use to have to take a letter from my doctor to allowed this after 9/11. Also with kidney dysfunction I need to be able to use the bath room frequently, which is a little hard when you are on a jury.
You would think they would stop sending them to me because I am always excused. I called once to ask how to be taken off the list permanently and the clerk said there was no way to do that. No wonder CA is going broke. Having to send out the same paperwork over and over again, with a person (like me being excused every time for medical problems) you would think it would be cheaper to come up with some kind of computer program that could do this.
Anyway, tomorrow we will be doing some mold forms in the old fireplace and on the side of the house where we are adding on to the house for putting in cement and call to get an inspection on Friday. Then continue to work on the house.
