Got my Kindle

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Got the Kindle that my DH ordered for me. I really like using it. But almost too much new stuff to learn. The Kindle is easy, it is the new phone I got the other day.

I only had a cell phone b/4 and got a new LG Rumor Touch. I now have text adding to it but elected not to have the internet or email. I have to pay for 2 phones, so until Frank gets a job and can pay for his own I can't afford to add the rest. It is a step up for both of us. I also block access to the browser stuff because I know my son and he would try it and think "Oh I have it, I don't know why Mom said we didn't". Well yeah it was on there but you had to pay for everytime you connect. I like having the keyboard but I think my fingers are too big because I keep hitting the numbers. LOL

Had a good day today, to the bank, stopping by city hall to pay our electric bill (our city has their own electric company), went back to KMart where I purchased our phones and Sprint contract because I was having troubles getting my voice mail. They have real helpful guys working at this store. Same manager for the store for well over 15 yrs. She make sure her employees do a good job.

Went to the gym and my son came along. Had a good workout over 7 miles in 65 min. on the elliptical.

Enjoy your Kindle! My daughter borrowed mine months ago and I think she likes it better than I do (-:

Isn't it great to shop where the customer service is good! Nice of you to give K-mart kind words.

That does sound like a good workout. Good for you!

I like the idea of your cell phone store. Perhaps, having the career manager makes a big difference. Sounds like a nice hometown kind of place.

The first and only cell phone I got was the bottom of the line basic, good only in my province, pay as you go, emergency use only type of thing. I don't need anything more. I only use it once a month to keep it active otherwise they will take away the card I paid for. I learned that painful lesson the hard way when I lost a $50 calling card :( I found it very difficult to figure out how to use and deal with a contact list. I still don't know simply because I never use it and its easier to dial a number then search through a list..
Way to go with the elliptical!! That is great!! keep up the good work!
Have a terrific Thursday!

Hi all same old, same old

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

e worked on the house some and just haven't found much time to get on here. Have been watching my food intake but not always writing it down. Have been keeping up with the exercise min. I got a new phone yesterday LS Rumour Touch so now have texting but still no internet, went from ATT to Sprint for a better deal. Had to buy 2 phones because my son drop his about 10 days ago and it split in half. Here in CA when phones are on sale or you are suppose to get them free with a contract, it doesn't work that way here. You have to pay tax on your new cell phone based on the original sales price which is $399.99 dollars not the price of $29.99 that you paid. It is really screwed up and so many people have complained that hopefully TPTB will get their asses off the floor and do something about it. Most likely not because CA is so broke they need all the money they can get from the people who still live here, like me.

I did not have a very good Mother's Day. My son Frank who lives here did take me to lunch on Friday which I really appreciated, he is a great kid. He sister and foster son did not call at all or send cards. By 8pm I was very sad and started to cry. I know I was feeling sorry for myself but I felt really hurt by them not bothering to call. Seems my daughter did put something on FB but that to me is not the same as a call or card. She knows I do not go online to FB everyday and most the time only a couple of times a week. So my husband left them emails that said they had better be dead or in jail because he did not like the fact that they ignored the day. Anyways Jeff decided to order me a Kindle so make me smile. It came today and I just download some free stuff so far, everything b/4 1928 publishing is free which I think is funny. Looking at downloaded some Stephen King that I have missed in the last few years.

Anyways I hope all is well with my pals here on Sparks.

I understand. I am sorry you had a rough Mother's Day.

I gave birth 20 years ago. My parents adopted him right before his 2nd b-day. Mother's Day is a sad day for me.

Happy Mother's Day from someone who truly cares about you.

hugs, hil

Pictures from that last 2 days/no more fireplace.

Wednesday, May 04, 2011

This is how far the boys had gotten last weekend. Over the next 2 days the rest was taken down.

Clean uped on the outside.

Sorry a bit blurry, Jeff removing the inside board so I can use the sledge hammer.

Phred decided this would be a good "doggy" door.

The first blows, to weaken the supports.

Very determined to get that first brick to come down. LOL

This face even scares me. Doing my muscle woman imitation.

Jeff having a go with the sledge hammer.

Jeff and Frank put up temporaty insulation and this is where the new "French" doors with now be (Currently one on each side of the old fireplace)

Won't you miss the fireplace at all? No crackling wood, that pine smell and warmth? Guess you don't need to worry about cold there ;)

Normal day

Spent 2 hrs and 29 mins cleaning the house today. All the dust from working on the house. I was having trouble breathing a little today, mostly I think from the winds we had yesterday. There is/was a fire out on Catalina Island, even with it being about 40 miles away, the wind just blew it inland. Used the sledge hammer yesterday for the first time. DH took pictures of me slamming it into the fireplace. What fun! LOL Help Frank load up the truck, George came over to talk about the final plans for the house redo and just had a pretty good day. It was very warm in the upper 90's. I know I will be doing a lot of cleaning when we start up in June. Construction zone is coming and I have to do my own clean up. Not like watching "Holmes on Homes" where the workers clean up their messes. OK no problem. lol

Yup, the smoke from the fires in West Texas was bad here, too. Thank goodness they have put them out. I know that your remodel is lots of work, but just the same, lots of fun! Take care of yourself, and watch out for the sledgehammer! Chris emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

You could try to send some of that heat our way, not all though! Yesterday we were 25 degrees below normal and we have been running that way. Today we actually got up into the 60's and there were no coats, sweatshirts, and sweaters in sight.

Boy, a double whammy with the dust and the smoke. Take care of those lungs!! emoticon

I get a sinus infection every time I start cleaning a dusty area. I try to keep those areas to a minimum but there is always somewhere I forget about that is accumulating.

It doesn't help that I was diagnosed by an allergy specialist as being allergic to dust, mold, trees and grass! Easy to avoid those, right? Actually, it's not as bad as it sounds. It's only during grass cutting time or in a very moldy area that it bothers me.

Hope you feel better soon!

I love hearing that you got to use the sledge hammer...I bet that was so much fun. Could you send some for that heat this way...its so bad that our HIGH is not even reaching our average LOW! We might reach 50 degrees today. Hope today is a great day for you!

Its been so dry and windy here, I have to wonder when the forest fires will start. Even though we live 88 miles from the nearest one, they always seem to blow in on our city :( Right now the dust being stirred up by our strong winds means I get a runny nose every time I go out the door :(
Cleaning is great exercise. I washed my windows and vacuumed today. Will be a very busy bridge week coming up, so not much time to do anything else..
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Busy day and woke up feeling great.

Sunday, May 01, 2011

Got up and of course my DH started up on the chimney again along with our son. It is almost done and I will post more pictures. Jeff just asked me if I wanted to use the sledge hammer tomorrow. You know I am all over that and can't wait to swing that 8 pounds. Better than the gym.

Did some errands, went to the market. Came home and had lunch with the boys, who then went back to destroying the chimney. I went to the gym and had two good cardio workouts. Jogged for 50 min. today and close to 4 miles. emoticon emoticon

Came home and turned on NASCAR, Jeff didn't realize it was on. Silly man.
Made dinner Shrimp with Angel Hair pasta added to it. Along with some mixed veggies and mini sugar free banana muffins along with 1% milk. I then took Phred for his walk and did the dishes. Sort of boring, normal day.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday!
