Rain and more rain. Also old picture of me in GS mid 60's

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

We had rain again today as well as yesterday morning. I think it did finally get a bid warmer in the afternoon for a high of 63 degrees. We I went to the market this morning the outside temp of 57, yesterday morning it was 56. This is the middle of May people, CA is suppose to be warm by now.
As I said the other day I found some old friends of my mine on FB. One of them sent me this picture of our Girl Scout Troop I think we were 9 or 10 years old.
Who can guess which one is me?? Answer at the bottom of this blog.

I took Phred for his walk when the sun came out. He is still very nervous even after almost 5 years of walking him on busy streets. Some days worse than others. He was a bit better today so was able to somewhat farther. I hadn't tried in a while because of the last time I had to turn back.
Getting excited about going to Chicago. Will be so much fun! Can't wait to see my old roommate Mary Beth. My DH says to bring along a nice outfit for a fancy dinner too. So glad there is a gym and pool on the same floor as our room. We are on the 38th floor. Wow Wee.

Ok the answer to the question: I was not wearing glasses then but I am standing in the back on the right side, hanging on to two of my friends leaning a bit over, I think trying not to crack up over something said.

Great photo Teri! What memories you are getting to relive connecting with your old friends!
You are going to love Chicago! Its an awesome place. It was amazing going to the top of the Sears Tower and see it snowing DOWN from the clouds. How cool is that?? Getting above the clouds!! Lots to see and do there, so don't spend it all in your hotel room if you can get out.
I am enjoying the temperatures you are complaining about right now lol. Its the warmest its been here for a while!

Been busy on FB lately

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Well all I can say is that I have been a lot of FB over the last couple of weeks. Found a lot of good friends from my school years. Going to hook up with a couple of them soon. Also found my best friend from elementary school for whom I named my daughter Samra. Have friended her but haven't heard from her. My other close friend from back then Jeanie said she isn't on a lot so give it time. I was really thrill to all of a sudden find so many that I thought I would never find. There is a group I joined that only started a few months back called "I Grew Up in Thousand Oaks and maybe there are other groups like this for other places but it has been a gold mine for connecting to many of my lost friends.
So I have to say I am a little sorry I have spent so much time on the other site but I was having a lot of fun. lol
Took my DH to the airport this morning, it was raining and pretty cool here. He thought his plane takeoff was going to be delayed by an hour but turns out it was only about 10 min. late from take off but he had to wait 25 min. on tarmack at OHare. I will join him on the 23rd. It will be so much fun to see a place I have never been b/4 and catch up with my old room mate Mary Beth. I really am looking forward to this trip.
Should have worked out today but I was so cold after I got home and it took me a long time to warm up. Did take Phred out for about 22 min. but that was about it. Have been forgetting to wear my Pedometer for the last couple of days too. Oh well got to get my act back and keep working out.

Yay to connecting with old friends. I have done that also. I moved around a few times between states so I thought I would never see those friends again from elementary school.

Glad you are back here though!

Teri, so glad to hear that you were able to find some old school friends! That had to be a blast to hear from them and what they have been up to all these years!
I just flew home from Seattle yesterday and everything is a go for the transplant.
I will fly back up on the 26th of May, but will be having a stop over in LA and thought maybe we could connect, but I see that you will be in Chicago with Jeff at that time!

Sorry it has been rainy and cold there, hope it warms up soon! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Got my Kindle

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Got the Kindle that my DH ordered for me. I really like using it. But almost too much new stuff to learn. The Kindle is easy, it is the new phone I got the other day.

I only had a cell phone b/4 and got a new LG Rumor Touch. I now have text adding to it but elected not to have the internet or email. I have to pay for 2 phones, so until Frank gets a job and can pay for his own I can't afford to add the rest. It is a step up for both of us. I also block access to the browser stuff because I know my son and he would try it and think "Oh I have it, I don't know why Mom said we didn't". Well yeah it was on there but you had to pay for everytime you connect. I like having the keyboard but I think my fingers are too big because I keep hitting the numbers. LOL

Had a good day today, to the bank, stopping by city hall to pay our electric bill (our city has their own electric company), went back to KMart where I purchased our phones and Sprint contract because I was having troubles getting my voice mail. They have real helpful guys working at this store. Same manager for the store for well over 15 yrs. She make sure her employees do a good job.

Went to the gym and my son came along. Had a good workout over 7 miles in 65 min. on the elliptical.

I like the idea of your cell phone store. Perhaps, having the career manager makes a big difference. Sounds like a nice hometown kind of place.

The first and only cell phone I got was the bottom of the line basic, good only in my province, pay as you go, emergency use only type of thing. I don't need anything more. I only use it once a month to keep it active otherwise they will take away the card I paid for. I learned that painful lesson the hard way when I lost a $50 calling card :( I found it very difficult to figure out how to use and deal with a contact list. I still don't know simply because I never use it and its easier to dial a number then search through a list..
Way to go with the elliptical!! That is great!! keep up the good work!
Have a terrific Thursday!

Hi all same old, same old

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

e worked on the house some and just haven't found much time to get on here. Have been watching my food intake but not always writing it down. Have been keeping up with the exercise min. I got a new phone yesterday LS Rumour Touch so now have texting but still no internet, went from ATT to Sprint for a better deal. Had to buy 2 phones because my son drop his about 10 days ago and it split in half. Here in CA when phones are on sale or you are suppose to get them free with a contract, it doesn't work that way here. You have to pay tax on your new cell phone based on the original sales price which is $399.99 dollars not the price of $29.99 that you paid. It is really screwed up and so many people have complained that hopefully TPTB will get their asses off the floor and do something about it. Most likely not because CA is so broke they need all the money they can get from the people who still live here, like me.

I did not have a very good Mother's Day. My son Frank who lives here did take me to lunch on Friday which I really appreciated, he is a great kid. He sister and foster son did not call at all or send cards. By 8pm I was very sad and started to cry. I know I was feeling sorry for myself but I felt really hurt by them not bothering to call. Seems my daughter did put something on FB but that to me is not the same as a call or card. She knows I do not go online to FB everyday and most the time only a couple of times a week. So my husband left them emails that said they had better be dead or in jail because he did not like the fact that they ignored the day. Anyways Jeff decided to order me a Kindle so make me smile. It came today and I just download some free stuff so far, everything b/4 1928 publishing is free which I think is funny. Looking at downloaded some Stephen King that I have missed in the last few years.

Anyways I hope all is well with my pals here on Sparks.

I understand. I am sorry you had a rough Mother's Day.

I gave birth 20 years ago. My parents adopted him right before his 2nd b-day. Mother's Day is a sad day for me.

Happy Mother's Day from someone who truly cares about you.

hugs, hil

Pictures from that last 2 days/no more fireplace.

Wednesday, May 04, 2011

This is how far the boys had gotten last weekend. Over the next 2 days the rest was taken down.

Clean uped on the outside.

Sorry a bit blurry, Jeff removing the inside board so I can use the sledge hammer.

Phred decided this would be a good "doggy" door.

The first blows, to weaken the supports.

Very determined to get that first brick to come down. LOL

This face even scares me. Doing my muscle woman imitation.

Jeff having a go with the sledge hammer.

Jeff and Frank put up temporaty insulation and this is where the new "French" doors with now be (Currently one on each side of the old fireplace)

Won't you miss the fireplace at all? No crackling wood, that pine smell and warmth? Guess you don't need to worry about cold there ;)
