All Week and Easter too

Monday, April 25, 2011

This week was one of those times when it seems nothing ever goes the way you plan for it to go. After the kids were here last weekend, my son Frank went back to AZ with them until they returned late Thursday or early Friday morning.
After they got to AZ, Eve started to have problems with her car and we weren't sure she would be able to get it fixed. So we were maybe going to have to drive to AZ to pick up Frank. So glad we didn't have to do that.

Jeff and I had some time together, since he only had to work Monday and Tuesday of last week. We enjoyed having the house to ourselves. We worked on the house, purchased 4 dvd's, had movie days and just hung out.
I did make it to the gym a couple of times but decided just to take the week off from the site because I was having problems with my computer. When Jeff was in Chicago, he did some updates and the lap top just wouldn't let me enter anything or work correctly and it drove me crazy. We also started to take down our chimney for the house redo that starts in June.

The kids got back home and on Friday morning I took my daughter Samra up to the city of Monrovia (near Pasadena) to shop at a specially bra shop. Samra is very endowed and it has been a problem to get the correct size. All of the kids have joined the Planet Fitness where they live in AZ, and Samra needed a good workout bra. I was able to get her one workout bra, and 3 other bra's. They ranged in size's 2 (38-HH), 1 (38-J) and the sports bra was a 38-G. They were fitted and now she is a happy camper. It cost me $272, so with the 80 mile round trip and a lunch , it was a spendy day, to say the least. I am just happy she has some well fitted bra's now.

On Easter I took her over to her friend Jenny's home in the city of La Palma (Jenny lives in AZ near where she lives). Jenny had a baby boy about 5 weeks ago and she really wanted me to see the baby. He is so cute and very good too.
The whole time Samra was here she couldn't hear out of one hear and she was in so much pain, she had her friends drop her off at the ER last night. So I was up late, picking her up and taking her to the pharmacy. Her ins. worked for the ER but wouldn't pay for her medication, so I paid for that $72. This was not a cheap weekend for me.

Earlier in the afternoon Phred the Wonder Dog decided to chase something under our deck. After we finally got him out he was no longer a white dog, but very black. I got elected to bathe him, which is not a fun chore. So after that we heard from Jory's girlfriend Eve (Samra lives with them in AZ) that she had been in a fender bender but was OK.

So the whole of last week was rather strange here, weather was warm one day then cold the next. We had rain yesterday morning and today was nice.
I am going to post a few pictures that my friend emailed me from the hike at Borengo Springs a few weeks back on another blog today.

Seems like whatever could go wrong, DID go wrong! Wow, you spent a lot of money! We horseback riders have to buy supportive bras for riding! Nothing looks worse than a bouncing bosom when you are on horseback! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sorry Samra had so much expensive trouble. I used to have big trouble with my chest size, and found these great, but very expensive bras, but was quite happy to spend the money so I wouldn't ever have that embarrassing and painful bounce again. Now, with my weight loss, they are too big on me :(( I lost FOUR bra sizes!! Now I have trouble finding a size SMALL enough lol.
Too bad there wasn't a lake or something nearby that old Phred couldn't go for a swim and give himself a bath ..
I hope your week goes better for you!

Surprise weekend visit from the kids

Monday, April 18, 2011

My son and I picked up my DH from the airport on Friday evening and we went out to a late dinner at a favorite Mexican place. I order a Honeydew Margarita, which was very good. We had been sitting about 10 min. when my phone rang, and my daughter Samra had a surprise for us. Eve (Jorys girlfriend) Jory (son) and her were leaving to come to CA (from AZ) for the weekend. We weren't expecting them until next weekend and they are coming then too.
I took the kids bowling on Sat. and some other stuff. Samra went through grocery coupons with me and tried on a bunch of clothes that my older sister have given to me for her. Frank had spring break this week from college so went back to AZ to hang out for a few days. The will be back late Thursday night.

Did all my DH's laundry from his trip yesterday, read the Sunday newspaper and watched NASCAR. Also some cleaning.

Hit the gym this morning with Irene. Our weather was so hot this weekend, over 90 degrees and woke up this morning to clouds and colder weather, we reached 62 degrees today. Colder tomorrow and the weather man says possibly rain, yet again.

Gym day

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Hurrah! for me I made it to the gym today. I walked over and walked back. It was only 64 degrees today and very windy on the way home, but the sun kept peaking out from between the clouds. Suppose to start to warm tomorrow, hit the mid 80's this weekend and then cool off, yet again.
I did good workouts on the treadmill and elliptical trainers today for 80 mins between them both. I also did a total of 7.29 miles at the gym, so including the walk home, doing some stuff around the house and giving Phred a short walk, I had a total of 11.24 miles today with 20,496 steps from 9am to 4:30pm. Not too shabby.
I have an appointment with my Rhuematologist tomorrow morning, plus I am sure he will order a ton of blood work. I haven't had any done since the ER did some in Jan., 2011 and the doc had some done in the beginning of Dec., 2010. I think the only reason he is going to be upset with me is I have not had a pro-time since the ER. I take blood thinners because of a Lupus blood clotting factor and should have this test done about every 2 weeks or so. Just have to wait to see how much I need to change what I have been taking.
Frank and I had artichokes for dinner along with left over couscous, he had an Kings Hawaiian roll with his, along with milk for both of us. I was too low on calories so I also had greek yogurt for desert (blueberry). Drank plenty of water today and I hope all my Sparks friends did the same. Hugs,Teri

How do you cook your artichokes? I have tried them steamed before but I get lost as to how much of the outer layers to remove and how much to keep.

Hope doctor didn't fuss to much.

Topiary day

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Got up and read the paper, ate breakfast, then got to work on my topiary's. With our weather being so up and down, they have grown a whole bunch. Took me about 2 1/3 hours to do the trimming and clean up (raking, sweeping up). Started at 10:30am and finished at 1pm. I am still not none because I need to use the smaller power trimmer to do the details work on them. It was pretty warm today and I was sweating up a storm when I was done. I came in the house ate lunch, watch OLTO and GH and then talked to my daughter for a while near the end of GH. I then took Phred for a nice long walk. I order pizza for Frank and I, had 2 slices and did go over my calorie count by a couple 100 calories but I figured I have going over my exercise min. for days, so no biggie.
Off to watch "TBL". Everyone have a nice evening and tomorrow.

I love seeing topiary!! So few people have the time and patience to do it. You have to be a real artist and see it in three dimensions! Good on you for having such a challenging hobby!
Enjoy your TV program!
