Pretty fun weekend, wish I had my camera with me.

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Sat. my DH was working a show for health products (for insiders only). He got me into the show and I had a blast. Was so glad I only ate a small breakfast, I got to try so many samples and get samples to take home. I tried all kinds of products from goat cheese/yogurt, to drinks like coconut water/vegetable juices. My DH even purchased for my birthday and really nice juicer, for half price. What a great guy!
I also got to meet Fabio' and get his autograph. This is why I wish I had my camera since my cell phone is just that, a phone. For those who do not know who Fabio' is, he was the #1 male model back in the day for all the romance novel covers. What surprised me most was how kind he was (doing a meet and greet isn't much fun) and still very good looking, in fact I thought he was better looking in person than in some photos. He signed his photo right in front of me and I am sure if I had asked him to sign it to me, he would have. I was a little slow on asking him to sign it to me, rather than just signing it. A lot of the younger people I ran into didn't know what he was famous for but knew the name. Most remembered their mothers talking about him, really ages you when 30' something's say that to you. LOl
DH has worked none stop since he returned to work a couple of weeks ago, and is having no problems since his recovery from appendectomy surgery in Jan. In fact, he left for Chicago this morning. He is loving the place he is staying at. He is on the 40th floor in a one bedroom condo type place, he has a full kitchen, laundry too and on the 4th floor is an indoor pool, library and full gym.
I would have loved to have flown in for this coming weekend but we are saving money for our home remodel in June. I have an old friend (room mate) that lives about 10 miles outside of Chicago. Our birthdays are only a couple of days a part and she would have loved to show me the town and celebrate with me. Most of the time I would have been on my own, which would have be fun but always better run around with the one you love.
With Jeff most likely working 12-14 hrs a day, I wouldn't have seen him. I would have to take a taxi to the hotel, then figure out what to do with myself while he worked. The hotel isn't suppose to let me in his room without him there.
Oh well, he may go back in May and of course next year.
The last 2 days have been busy with me shopping for him and getting his stuff ready. I drove him to the airport this morning and then walked over to the gym.
Had a great workout, did the 30 min. fitness routine (10 steps & 10 machines, do each for 60 sec.) then I did cardio. Took a fast shower to get the sweat off, since I had just shower in the morning, then walked home for lunch. Took Phred out for a nice walk in the afternoon.
Our weather has been great but now it is suppose to rain by the weekend. Which really sucks since I will going to my sis's in San Diego for the weekend. She lives at about 3,500 ft level in the mountains above Temecula, she had 6 inches of snow a few weeks ago. This will be a nice early birthday present (I will 55 on the 21st). Then I will be home on the 20th and on the 21st celebrate with my son and possible some friends.
Wishing everyone a fun and safe St. Paddy's Day tomorrow!

Nice day again but cooling off for the weekend.

Friday, March 11, 2011

Went to the gym again today. Had an appointment with a trainer at 9am. with 3 other lady's. Planet Fitness does free training in small groups. After that I came home and did a few things around the house. Did 8.88 miles, 181 fitness min. & 13,885 counted steps (most likely did more but didn't wear my pedometer all day).

My son Frank has been bugging me for a few weeks to go over to The Candy Man.
Yes, it does sell volume candy but also services every roach coach (food trucks)around this area with pre-packaged burgers, burritos, snacks ect. He got himself several different types of things like frozen Jalapeño burgers, large reg. burgers, french bread pizza and some breakfast pastries. Anyone who has one of the food trucks outside or where they work, knows the types of things that is sold on them. He likes this stuff for a change of pace from Stouffer sandwiches and lunch meat. Hadn't been in a couple of years, same guy working the register. He was like "Wow, I remember you! You look so different." This was a place I used when we had all 3 kids living at home and all their friends here all the time eating us out of house and home. If you pay $4 for this type of burger from one of these trucks, at CM I pay less than $2. I was hoping they had Carefree gum in the new flavors like Chocolate Chip Mint, you can get the small box that holds about a dozen or more packs for less than $10.

DH just got home from work, made it b/4 8pm. So I am going to get off the site to visit with him, since I haven't seen much of him the last week.

Ha ha, they still call them roach coaches?!! emoticon

Back in the early '80's, I used to work in a place that made sandwiches for vending machines and trucks. We used to call the trucks roach coaches. Haven't heard the term for years. It cracked me up.

Wow, you have a trainer and everything. Sounds like you're really taking care of yourself and your pictures are looking good too. Here's hoping I can catch up with you soon.

Got to just over 80 degrees today!

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

It was a pretty beautiful day today. Our weather warmed up a lot but the news casters are saying it will cool off again and possilby rain by weekend. I walked to the gym and had a great cardio workout. Came home and did some errands, like the market. Took Phred for a nice walk and that was about it.
Talked to my friend Sandy today to see if her DH and her are still going to stay at Borrego Springs over the weekend of the 18th of March. I plan to stay with my sister Doreen that weekend. Doreen and possilbly her DH Fred will come with me over to meet up with them for a hike. Should be fun, since my DH will still be out of town. This will be a fun way to celebrate my 55th birthday on the Mon. the 21st.
DH is still at work and called to say he may not get off until 10pm. He will be making some good money. We need it after all the time he had off in Jan and most of Feb.
Hope everyone did well with their water intake and exercising today???
I know I did! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Tried New Gym Today, Anniversary of Lucy Dogs passing.

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

I decided to join up with the very close to home Planet Fitness yesterday. I was out running errands for the DH and had been planning to do this for a few weeks.
I still have my membership with 24 Hrs. until Nov. 2011 but I can't afford the gas to drive over there 6 times a week. If I head to Fullerton to run errands or go to the doctor, it is on the way home.

Planet Fitness is 1.90 miles round trip from the house. It gives a good warm up for the cardio machines and a nice cool down walk home. I still take Phred out just about everyday too. I signed up to see the trainer at noon today, was hoping to get in at 11am class but no one told me you had to sign up a head of time. They only let 4 members be with a trainer at one time, these sessions are free, so I think that is another pretty cool reason to join.
PF use to be a 24 Hrs. when I originally started with 24 Hrs. but closed this site up just 6 weeks after I started. I had only joined because I could walk, previously I had been a member of Ballys and didn't want to have to drive to workout. So I ended up having to drive almost the same miles as to where the Ballys was located since they are located just down the street from each other...

Today it has been a year since we had to put Lucy Dog to sleep after she developed severe diabetes and had a stroke. Phred is my husbands dog and he will never be he dog that Lucy was. I have learned to love Phred too, but not the same for me. My Lucy was the best dog I had ever had and I had a few others. DH even agrees that Lucy was also the best. He loves his Phred but knows that he is sort of dumb. That dog loves my DH to death. Don't now why? I mean DH doesn't feed, bathe or walk him (very rarely). I am home with Phred all day and he waits for the DH to come home. LOL

Hope everyone drank their water and got in their exercise min.

Losing pets is a tough one.

I go to 24 Hour but it is pretty convenient for me and cheap.

Its great to have a gym close to you.
So sorry about Lucy :(( Its so hard to lose your special love..
Bendix wasn't really a cuddling or playing type dog. He was more a man's dog and my step dad did look after him, taking him for long walks or runs twice a day, but Bendix would always come to me with a tail wag and kisses everytime I would come over for a visit.

Glad that you found a neat gym, and close to home, too! I heard that gasoline prices in California were over $4 a gallon, and I thought we had it bad at about $3.40. Also, it is good to remember little Lucy and remember that she is over the rainbow bridge, running and playing......Thanks for sharing your day with us. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Nice day Saturday, cooled today and rain is coming, again!

Sunday, March 06, 2011

Yesterday was so nice that when I took Phred out for a walk at around 12pm it was almost 80 degrees. Last night was so mild that I almost didn't need a jacket when I went out to dinner and a movie with my friend Irene.
Irene and I went to see "The Black Swan", spoiler is coming if you plan on seeing this movie, not for the faint of heart or really for those under 16 due to graphic girl on girl sex scene and language. I still haven't decided if I liked this movie or not, if is so strange and weird. Natalie Portman was very good in the role as Nina and as she goes crazy, one could see why she won the Academy award for Best Actress.
We went to dinner at a local Italian restaurant that was featured on some cable show, but she and her family have been going at least once a week for 30 years.
It was very good and the portions are so large that we split both the salad and entrée'.
Today was very nice in the morning and I once again opened all the windows, like yesterday. I watched the beginning and ending of NASCAR, as I went to do the marketing in between. I did a 5 mile LS/DVD and took Phred for a 30 min. walk. The weather started to chance while we were out and it was pretty cool by the time we got back. It is starting to rain already and will much cooler again at least for a few days. Hope we get a warmer spring.
DH is working everyday until he leaves to work in Chicago on March 15 and he will return on the 25th. I don't know what type of trade show this is, but this is the first time his company has done a show there. I hope he has a good time and it isn't too cold for him. He is the whimpy kid who hates the weather to get under 68 degrees. LOL

The weather is all up and down out here. We had a few mild days and now it has turned cold again. Oh well, March and April are like that in this part of the country. If I want stable weather, I'll have to wait for summer.

Glad to hear you and Phred are still getting your exercise. I need to get back on track and follow your excellent example.

Glad you had such a lovely outing! Would that we could see some temperatures like that, but even our summers have been cold, wet and rainy. I have been wanting to see Black Swan, but my Mom didn't want to and its gone from the first run theatres. Not happy to hear its strange and weird lol. I was hoping it was about dancing lol.
Enjoy your Monday!
