Addendum to yesterdays blog, and some other stuff

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

I forgot to mention that as soon as I got home I went over to the local PD to turn the wallet in. I do hope the police are able to find the person whose wallet I found. It had his DL, med. & health ins. card inside but only $5. This took me about 45 - 60 min. to do and it was well worth it to me and I hope to the person will get his stuff back.

Took a good walk this morning with Phred and met a new friend whose name is Ruth. She was walking around an area I sometimes take Phred around. She had a cane and was so sweet, I was really surprised when she told me she was 85 years old. My goodness I thought she was at least 10 yrs. younger and hope I am as active as she is if I live to be that age. With blessings I am sure I will be.
I also did a LS/WATP dvd, so I got my min. in today.

Tomorrow I am taking my husband to the movies to see "The Kings Speech" and then an early birthday dinner for him. He will be 56 on Sunday the 6th., but he has to work all weekend so I thought I would treat him right. This is the movie he wants to see and right next to the theaters is a couple of really nice places to eat that he can choose. So I will try to log on early in the afternoon to get some of my Sparks done and then if we get back early enough to get back on again. I will watch what I eat and eat lightly during the day. No popcorn at the movies but I will bring along a 90 cal. bar, so I won't be too hungry at dinner time.

Off to eat dinner now. emoticon

Found a wallet on my walk today.

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

I took Phred out for an afternoon walk today and planned on being out about an hour. On our return I found a wallet with ID and other important stuff like health and car insurance information. The wallet wasn't on the sidewalk when we were headed south. Someone had to have lost it in a 20 min or so window until I came back the same way. Since I have been a victim of ID theft and went through a lot of "BS" to get it all taken care of, I wanted to be sure to help someone else. By the way the person who was using my name is now serving 3+ years in a federal pen. I wish he could stay longer after all the hell I lived with for almost 2 years.

So I am making a "fish" stew for dinner tonight with shrimp and scallops, along with vegetables like mini corn cobs and potatoes. Got some mini slices of sour dough bread to ear along side it. I hope it turns out good.

That is about it for my day. Hope everyone else got their exercise min. in today. I am a bit short but that is OK because I did a good deed!

On Sparks again and walked the dog by myself again

Monday, February 28, 2011

Today I have started back full time on site. The last 6 weeks or so have not been the best for me. I am 99% recovered from my injury and glad to be able to do a lot of cardio again. I still can't lift over a pound with the right arm without pain, so I will take it slow in the strength area.
I have been watching what I eat for the last week or so, but not tracking online. I had started doing cardio about 4 weeks ago, but it was rather painful. Today I did a 5 mile LS/WATP dvd and walked Phred the Wonder Dog for 38 min. This is the first day since the fall that I have taken him on a walk by myself. My son was walking him for me and I would tag along. These were mostly short walks but hey my son is in college and has a life, too. So I was very grateful to him for his help.
I hope to get to my goal weight b/4 my new end date in June. I will working hard at doing this. I wanted to start back at the gym but gas prices are so high now that I can't afford to drive there everyday or so. My membership will end in Nov. and I will not be signing up again with 24Hrs. I haven't been in about 5 or 6 months just because I have been so unhappy with the gym. It is never clean, machines are always broken and every time I start on a roll I get sick. I want to join the Planet Fitness that is within walking distance from my home. So even with my current membership all paid up, I will make the switch to the closer gym to my home. Planet Fitness was a 24Hrs when I joined but the location closed 6 weeks after I signed up. PF moved into the old 24Hrs after 9 months. Had I known this, I would have signed only a year contract with 24Hrs so I could switch to the closer gym. I will go with the more expensive membership because I can bring unlimited guests (my son and a number of friends would have to go with me), get 1/2 price drinks, use of the massage chairs for free and if I was into it, unlimited tanning booth access. It is a very clean place and the price is right with a special they have running.

OK enough about the gym. I am determined to get back on track and look forward to reaching my goal very soon.

So glad you are feeling better and can get back into some cardio at least! That you can get in a gym that is within walking distance is great. The only reason I chose Curves for a gym was because I could walk to it. Nothing else is remotely near.
Welcome back Teri!!

Blustery Day at Redondo Beach

Saturday, February 26, 2011

I got to visit with my sister Linda on Thursday, before her return to NY. I missed out last weekend on visiting with her and her friend Sharon in San Diego when I got sick We walk around the beach area, which was very cold and windy. Went over to Redondo Beach pier for dinner at Kincaids (good food, too much money for the portions) where we met up with a friend of Sharon's named Lori. I had the small plate which was just 4 small lamb chops, that's it, no sides for $16. They were fantastically (is that a word) cooked. I also had the french onion soup to warm up first. We all split a appetizer which was some kind of brie cheese with sour dough bread with jam and honey on the side. Just enough to have a small sample for each of us. We also split some cheese cake 4 ways. I had water and 1% milk with dinner. The other had drinks but I don't drink if I know I have to drive.

My sister Linda and I at Redondo Beach looking south towards Palos Verdes Peninsula

Looking north along the Pacific Coast towards LAX, Santa Monica, Malibu and out towards the Point.

My sister Linda and I at the Redondo Beach Dream Frog statue. The sign on it say's if you kiss him your dreams will come true.

Sunset view from our table at the restaurant. Doesn't get any better or more beautiful than this. Even with the cold weather.

Myself, sister Linda, her friend Sharon and Sharon's friend Lori (who lives in West Hollywood, CA).

Our weather has gotten colder by the day. My sister Doreen who lives in San Diego's foothills, had over 6 inches of snow this morning. We are looking at a low of 35 degrees tonight. Doesn't get this cold very often here. Will warm up by the end of the week, but more rain first. I hope all the movie stars don't get rained out for the Oscars. The news tonight said this is the coolest it has been for tomorrow's Oscar night. Night all.

No energy day.

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

I had a no energy day today. I am sleeping good but the weather has changed to pretty cold for around here. They are actually predicting the possibility of snow, here in Anaheim on Sat. That hasn't happened since 1974, but we did have some hail on Sat. evening.
I did hit Target today. Picked up 4 long sleeved tops. I don't own but a couple of them and figured I might as well pick up some to have on hand. All were on sale or reduced price so I am pretty happy with them. I also picked up a prescription for my DH and looked around the new fresh food section. Ended with picking up a container of mini croissants, along with lasagna for dinner. Kept to the low side of my calorie count today because of the lack of real exercise. I did walk around the block with Frank & Phred the Wonder Dog and walked around Target for about 45 mins. Should have been wearing my pedometer today to see how many steps I took. Oh well tomorrow is another day.

Snow in California? Wow! Would love to have your temperatures though. -42 windchills this morning and I still have to go out. I intend to walk back from my appointment, 60 minutes in the cold. But its all I can do until the surgeon gives me permission to use my right arm again. Its been a long and trying wait. A difficult and cold winter. So looking forward to it being over some day.
Hope you find your energy and can get some exercise.
I am always forgetting my pedometer too :(
Good for you keeping to the lower end of your calories when you are not exercising!
Keep up the good work!
