This is about 2 things. The first is I only lost a couple of ounces this week. I am exercising and eating good. So what is my problem. My body just doesn't seem to want to get down to my goal weight. I have gotten below 145 only one time for a few days. I just hover around 150. That is one reason I sort of took a break during the holidays, figuring to give my body some time to stabilize. I had hoped I would start to lose about 2 - 3 pounds a week, doing 2 challenges. One with a team and the other boot camp with SP.
I won't give up, I feel good and I think I look pretty good for my age. What to do? What to do? Anybody, because I know the answers. I have given them to others time and time again, about exercising too much/little or not eating enough/too much.
The 2nd thing is today they had 2 shootings today up in LA and 1 yesterday. Yesterday's in Gardena HS, today near Bell HS. The other was an on campus officer in Woodland Hills. Gardena at one time was mostly oriental, black and white, now almost all Hispanic & black. City of Bell was made famous over the last year because it is a poor community and their civic leaders were getting paid hundred of thousands of dollars do to their jobs. (more than what was paid to do other similar jobs in places like Beverly Hills and the City of Los Angeles). Most of these so called leaders have been fired and are in big trouble. Anyways, Bell is made up of mostly Hispanic with a low percentage of black, oriental or white students. So having gang shootings is not outside the realm of possibility at these school.
Today's shooting in Woodland Hills is more of a surprise. This area has a strange mix of well-to-do's with the do-not-haves. I know it was an on campus officer who was shot, so this school like so many has gang problems now.
Why should I be worried living down here the OC. I live in an area that has changed so much over the last 25-30 yrs. This was a mostly white neighborhood when I married my husband, we started to have gang problems in the late 1980's. A lot of tagging has been going on in our area since the beginning of the school year, fall 2010.
I live around the corner from our local Junior HS, my kids went there, my neighbors kids go there. It is now almost all Hispanic, very few orientals, and a small mix of black & white. Our neighbors are mostly Hispanic now (now for those that don't know ), I was brought up in a half Hispanic family, my grandfathers 2nd wife is Mexican. I have been around the Mexican culture my whole life, some of my best friends are Hispanic. I also have a lot of black friends: Cora being one of my closet friends, is the mother of one of my daughter's best guy friends.
Now the point I am making is we all complain about the same thing. We don't want the gangs in our area, we don't want our kids shot and we don't want tagging. So who is raising these other kids that do these things?/ If we all want to get rid of this problem. Why is nothing still being done to teach the parents and their kids how to stay out of gangs?
Should I be worried living just around the corner from a school that one day some kid will bring a gun and start shooting? I sure hope not.
Sorry, I am bitching about this, but it drives me crazy. Why do some kids and their parents think that violence is the answer?
I am asking my SP friends to please say a blessing for all the injured who have been hurt over the last 2 days.
