Thanks all my friends for the good wishes and prayers regarding my husband. He is doing much better today, and even has his appetite back somewhat. We are both catching up on our sleep and returning to normal.
Caught up on my SP Boot camp videos and wearing my pedometer most of the day. Did 9.192 miles today with 17,450 steps from around 7am - 6:30pm.
Did something I never do, I ate a whole bag of Chocolate Turtle Chex Mix.
Not a smart idea but very good. Oh well.

Well the new year started off with a bang at my home. I went off with my friend Irene on Sunday evening to her companies holiday party. I ended up at the ER where my son had driven my husband just b/4 10pm. He had surgery to remove his appendix. I got home around 2:15am on Monday morning, didn't sleep at all worrying about my husband. Hospital called me at 6:30am to say he had gone into surgery. I showered, and got some stuff together and headed by to hospital.
I got to the hospital around 7:30am and he did not come back up from recovery until close to 11am. I kept thinking there had to be a problem. One reason was while I was in his room a lady from inhalation therapy came in (around 8:45am and was surprised to find he hadn't been brought back up yet). I had the nurses station check on him a couple of times and if you have been in hospital they never tell you anything except he should be coming back up soon. They don't want to freak the family out if something bad happens. By not saying anything I think it makes us family members worry more, especially those that have been patients themselves or worked in a hospital (and I have done both).
Anyway he was released around 6pm Monday evening, in and out now a days. Best thing to do, he learned you don't get much rest in hospital with people in other rooms groaning or yelling for a nurse. He also didn't like the fact that when he rang for a nurse it sometimes took a while for someone to come to his room. I have been in hospital so many times that I am use to how it works but he was not a happy camper.
Today got a nice workout with one of my LS dvd's and a good walk with Phred the Wonder Dog. I started the SP January Bootcamp so I had to do 2 of the SP 10 min. bootcamp videos today. I will have to do that tomorrow too, to catch up with the one I am still missing for this week. After tomorrow I will be caught up and can go back to doing one a day.
I have finally gotten some nice sleep over the last 2 nights, but still feel pretty tired out. DH is doing better, eating some heavier soups with meat and veggies in them. Along with bread, eggs, yogurt, apple sauce/juice, fruit cups, & some milk. He says his stomach is still sore and doesn't want to start on solid foods yet. I'll give him another day or so, but he will have to start eating more solids at some point.
Interesting Biggest Loser last night. I want to know who the new trainer's are. I almost think the new lady his Laila Ali , because they said she was a boxer.
Anybody have their own guess??

We watch the Rose Parade every year, in fact we watch it over and over again all day. For those of you who don't live in S.CA, one of the local WB stations, repeats the parade all day long and then one more time the following weekend.
The great thing is you can stay up late, wake up late and still do things that you need to do all day. Catch the show in the middle, no problem, it starts over as soon as the parade ends. All day long, but with commercials on the repeats.
I went to the Rose Parade in my senior year in high school with my boyfriend, his older sister and her friends. It ended up raining during the night, was frigging cold and we were all wet and freezing. We only had the shell of a Toyota truck to climb into to get dry and try to sleep. Mine you there was 3 other girls in college with us (one being my boyfriends sister) and 2 other college age guys besides my boyfriend. So we had a total of 7 adults and believe me Toyota trucks were small back then, squashed into the back of that thing all night.
My boyfriend was over 6'4", the other guys were all built like football players and the girls including me were all over 5'5". Not much room to move around in or get comfortable.
During the night the rain stopped and we went out to Colorado Blvd. to watch the floats. I was so tired, and I thought they look so small in person, I am going to go back to the truck and sleep until the others get back. (I knew I could watch it on TV later). After a while, here comes another of the girls, then another, then my boyfriend and his sister, and finally the last two guys. We all decided that this was the stupidest thing we had ever done and couldn't really understand how some people do this every year. What was so funny about this was that my Mom did not want to let me go because I was still 17. So my boyfriends sister talked to her and assured her there would be no hankie pankie. All of us snuggled together for warmth. We all got a big kick on the way home, thinking that my Mom was totally clueless about what goes on at the parade. All of us were so darn cold that sex was the last thing on any of ours minds.
Took Phred for a walk today and he seems to be doing better. I kept him right next to me, made him sit at street corners and when other dogs came by I made him sit and tried to get him to control himself. He is doing better but a long way from breaking the bad habit of going crazy when he sees other dogs.
Made a nice ham dinner for the New Years but went over my calorie count with the pumpkin pie. Oh, well tomorrow is another day. I am doing 2 challenges this month so I should be able to get back on track.

Just wanted to let all my Sparks friends know how much I count on their encouragement and friendship.
NOW for the strange request, does anyone have have medical insurance with "Aetna". We have had the same insurance through my husbands Union for forever (Principal Life) and about 1 1/2 weeks ago we get these new insurance cards. My DH called a friend who is also with the same union and he told us we should have been notified back in Oct. for open enrollment period. We got nothing at all, so was a big surprise to us.
The one thing I am not sure about is how to order my medications now. We have used CVS/Caremark (and they have all of my information) through our former insurance, but there is nothing on this ID about ordering medications. We went on site but since the insurance doesn't become effective until midnight tonight, we could not find out any information. I plan to try and call on Monday.
We were able to see that my Rhuematologist and our dentist was on the list. We still only have a $10 co-pay for a office visit but I have no idea how much medication will cost at a walk-in pharmacy or if I can still use mail order through CVS/Caremark. SO if any one on Sparks has this insurance and would be willing to let me know how good they are, I would greatly appreciate.
Now for today, it was pretty darn cold for S.CA, I think we reached the mid 50's.
But the sun was out when I went to the market, used a light jacket, and actually didn't really need it. Later after I was home and had put the food away my son and I went bowling.
Bowling was pretty fun, wasn't my day today. I broke 100 every game but I was missing my spares and it was killing me. I had a coupon to bowl for 2 hrs. for $8.99 each and included shoe rental, so we got 7 games and part of another b/4 we got the time out sign. Frank my son always takes a while to warm up and only after he has a beer, he gets better and he beat me the last game. Really pretty funny.
Started watching "Dog Whisperer" to see if I could get any pointers to help crazy Phred be better walking. I use them all today while walking and he was much better behaved. I just got to remember to do it everyday. I also got a "Bark Off' for my husband for Christmas because Phred just goes nuts whenever someone comes to the door or the gardener's are here. I am not sure if it is working because there is no light to tell you it is on. You put a button and just hope for the best. I do think Phred wasn't as nutty yesterday when the gardeners came or maybe I was hoping he was more relaxed. Anyway BO says' it can take a couple of weeks, so we shall see or I am getting my money back. Walking today with Phred I made him stay at my side instead of pulling ahead and made him sit at the traffic lights. I did all the things the DW says to do and it seems to be working. This is one of my new goals for 2011, to try and get Phred the Wonder Dog under control when I walk him. Wish me luck!
