Pawn Stars/Hoover Dam. Our last day in LV

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

DH (Jeff and I) took one day to drive around Vegas &
If you watch "Pawn Stars" then no explanation is needed.

Maybe he is trying to pawn me off to the "Taxi Driver's"

go over to Hoover Dam. I had not been there since the early 1970's and when he was there 3 years ago the new by-pass bridge was not completed. It open a few months back and it is something to see. Next time we will park at the lot where you walk a switch back up to the bridge and then across. I am sure it would be a couple of miles.

Looking at the new by-pass bridge from Hoover Dam

The new visitors center, this is also where the new elevator is that takes you down inside the dam.

It's a long way down!

I am saying "Hi from Hoover Dam". You all need to come and see this sometime!

Jeff doing the tourist thing! We are here *

Having dinner and laughs at Bucca De Beppo's with the gang.
This is the end, I promise. LOL

SEMA show Las Vegas Part 2

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

More pictures of the show.
I love the "Gull Wings" on this car, I almost purchased a DeLoren back in the day. Oh my "Back to the Future".

Kanga's or Wallaby's?? Don't know for sure but they love hugging their Australian tires.

Old road racing car, neat-o!

I want, I want, I want to go racing. Gentleman, start your engines!

Love this color and stripping

Sidecar bike, next pictures shows the sidecar, very strange looking but pretty cool, too.

Is this a "Monster Bike"? Don't know but looks like something Dad & Jr. would do for this show.

Anybody remember "R-A-T-T F-I-N-K! Ratt Fink?" If not ask your parents.

Original "Bat Mobile" from the TV series.

Munster Car from the 60's TV series.

That is all the pictures I will put here on my blog about SEMA. You got to love all the beautiful cars. Tomorrow I will do Hoover Dam and the new by pass bridge.

I am doing well and feeling good. Keeping up with exercising and staying within my calorie range too. Thank goodness. Hope any one who reads this enjoys the pictures.

Nov. 8th Sparkiversary

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

I forgot to say in my blog tonight on the SEMA show that today will be 1 year since I started using Sparks. I really joined in June of 2009 but didn't start to use the site until this date one year ago. Getting close to my goal weight of 135, should have been closer but got sick and gained a little over 7 pounds back. I will have to work hard to reach and keep the weight off for good. Good night all! emoticon emoticon

Showing some pictures from "SEMA Show" in Las Vegas #1

Monday, November 08, 2010

These are some pretty cool stuff. We had a great time at SEMA but saw less than 1/3 of what was there. Hope you all enjoy them.
This is Jeff and our friend Gary who lives in LV. He has been very ill, going through chemo and radiation for neck cancer. He has lost weight but looks good and has a great attitude!

Yes it is the SEMA sign, duh!

DH Jeff and me.

Our friend Aussie John and me.

Cool & clean.

Loved this car and so wish I could have my vette this color.

Older racing vette. Beautiful!

One can not appreciate this inside of the car enough. WOW!

This is actually a brand new Firebird using a Camaro body.

Front of the Firebird.

Can we afford this car, no way, Jose!

I love bikes, Varoooom!

Loved the blue stripes on this cover.

Will end this blog part 1 with the group picture at the Borgeson booth, in back DH Jeff (CA), Mike (TX), Darren (TX); center: George (CA), me (CA), Gary (NV) and front is Aussie John, the Australian rep. for Borgeson. Will do another blog on the SEMA show tomorrow and then another for the day my DH and I played tourists.

Our house on Halloween/Leaving for Las Vegas

Tuesday, November 02, 2010

Skull lights in front of the "Sea Serpent".
Front porch, glad I have a good flash on my camera because this area was pretty dark.

Our welcome witch. Can't believe these other topiaries need cutting again and it has only been 2 months.

RIP in front of our Horse topiary, but who can tell with how much it has grown out.

I love this electric pumpkin, one of my best after Halloween sale pick ups.

Close up of one of the skull lights

A father and son from the neighborhood. Cool costumes.

Driving to Vegas tomorrow at noon, only takes about 5-6 hours. It has been really warm here the last few days, well into the 90's. Figure Vegas will be even warmer or not. You just never know. We are going to the SEMA convention (custom car show) and should be a lot of fun. I will try to keep track as best I can of my food and I know I will do a lot of walking. At Sam's town they do not have an exercise room but they do have a pool and bowling alley. So I hope to get some bowling in. I will try to get up early in the morning and walk for about an hour or so. We always get stuck up on the 9th or 10th floor. So maybe I will just try to do the stairs for about an hour. The should be some good exercise?? If I don't get on site tomorrow night I will be on something on Thursday for sure.

Hi, Great Halloween decorations. DH and I just returned from Las Vegas Wednesday. We had a great time in spite of some room issues. I do have a new Electric Toothbrush courtesy of MGM Grand. I got plenty of steps during our stay. They ranged from 15916 to 18464. Enjoy your trip to Las Vegas.

LOVE the decorations!! What a weird pumpkin you found, perfect!! Halloween is my favorite celebration, but not many people decorated their houses this year.. Really nice to see the topiary, takes a lot of dedication and work to create those!! Lucky you to live in a climate where you can do them lol. I sure would love to experience some of those temperatures. Had a cold, wet, windy spring, summer and fall here in Saskatchewan, Canada, never got near summer temperatures and now winter is here.
Stair climbing is great exercise, would be good to do, as would be pool exercise (would be my first choice in a hot place). Enjoy your trip and car show..
