Another day of running around/did a little exercise

Tuesday, November 02, 2010

Jeff had me running around doing errands again today. Did manage to clean up some of the house, walk the dog a little bit, fix dinner and 3 loads of laundry. I love my new W/D instead of doing 5 loads it is down to 3. How neat is that??
Will go for now. You all remember to vote tomorrow OK

Current kitchen with some new appliances. circa 1953

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Entry way into the kitchen with old refrigerator on the left and current stove.

Current front door with entry to kitchen on left and hallway on right leads toward the bedrooms and current full bath.

Old refigerator, exit out of kitchen to house entry. This also has a pocket door that hasn't worked in years but stuck open while the other pocket door is stuck closed.

Notice I have to use the space under this table for extra storage, also the cupboard has no door, I have 2 like this. So old from wood rot the doors don't stay on anymore.

No explaination needed here. Looking out the front window.

Current stove, also entry into the laundry room with new W/D and Phred the Wonder Dog.

Laundry room with new W/D, DH built panty on left (where old gas heater was originally located), side door and you can just see the entry to the 1/4 bath (powder room),

Current 1/4 bath/powder. the current laundry and bath area will be completely different. The area where the W/D is now will be a shower, the side door will be gone and that is where the new bathroom sink and toilet will be along the wall. You will entry this area from the laundry room which will be located near the new kitchen. (See Living Room Blog) for those pictures.

New Maytag dryer

New Maytag washer

New Maytag W/D together

New Maytag French Door Bottom freezer refrigerator.
Except for paint, wallpaper and new appliances over the years, nothing has been done to this kitchen and it looks just like it did when it was built in 1953.

Wow Teri! What a difference. When I move into the new townhouse I may hire you as my decorator of death! You've done a great job. So far the only thing I'm visualizing is a kitchen with an island range top and oven. I want black and white tiling and Susan Komen pink or candy apple red appliances. What do you think? Would that be too gauche?

Beautiful New Appliances! I love them! Hard to believe that the kitchen has been unchanged for all those years! You have no cabinet space or working countertops at all! Wow! Change WAS due! I am so happy for you! emoticon

What my living & dinning room looks like now. Small, crowded, no room. (Circa 1953)

Saturday, October 30, 2010

This wall will be one side of the new kitchen, right now you can see painters (blue) tape and the ceiling where the popcorn had water damage. This will all be fixed. Where the tv is now will be a large built in wall unit with a desk for me and my laptop and large pantry cupboards on each side.

These lights (brown wood) that run along the top of the living room were installed by my DH in the early 80's, they came from a Wendy's restaurant and he got them free. The stainless steel and glass wall unit covers the spot where a pocket door goes into the kitchen, the door hasn't been able to open in years. LOL

This is suppose to be the dinning room, too small for the table. The wooden hutch was my mother in laws, the bakers rake is mine. Most of my smaller kitchen appliances are kept in this area. Also where my computer is located.

Looking towards the dinning room. The half wall and all walls will be torn down. This area will be part of the new kitchen and where the large window stops will go out about 4 feet to enlarge the space.

My husbands current office. Will be torn down and part of the kitchen. The french doors will be in the center because we will be taking out the fireplace.
The current kitchen is on the other side of the wall, which will come down.

Fireplace will be gone and new french doors put in this spot. New kitchen will start to your right of the new placement. Oh and there is Phred the Wonder Dog.

Jeff (DH) sitting on the couch watching tv.
I will do another blog with pictures of the current kitchen and also of my new bedroom furniture when we get all the pieces at the end of Nov.

Well, I am so excited that you are getting a renovation! My DH is an architect and it is like the cobbler's children - they only had shoes when the wife threw a big hissy fit! We did two complete renovations (down to the nubs) and the only way I got both done was either to threaten to leave, take out a second mortgage, and move in with my parents (UGH) which got the house done in 3 months (had been languishing for 8 years!) or we had to move. This house was only 9 years old because I insisted no renovations! Now, if I could pay a contractor to come in and do it - no problem!

Anyway, I'm sure your story will be much better! Good luck and God Bless! emoticon

Thanks so much for sharing these pictures, Teri! I can see where you needed big changes! Will you miss the fireplace, though? Maybe you don't really need one there in California...
Can't wait to see new pictures, can see that the spaces are cramped. Time for CHANGE!! How exciting! emoticon It will be so emoticon when everything is finished! emoticon

Windy day today!

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

The Santa Ana winds really started to blow last night. Was very windy and somewhat warm today. did 2 exercise dvd's, with 12 min. of pilates at the end of one of them, also took Phred for a 1.14 mile walk.
Went over to the ATM to get grocery money but won't shop until tomorrow or Friday. Went to another furniture store, saw some stuff that was cheaper in price. I did not like as well and wasn't made as well as the Leviz furniture was. Will have to really think about what I want to spend.
Cora called today and I talked to her for a little bit, but I will call her back in a day or two to have a longer conversation. She was telling me some about her and her husband Jim and their trip to San Francisco. Boy were they lucky. Normal weather for that area is pretty cool, they ended up being there for a head wave. She wants to go back because she found she really likes the Golden Gate Bridge park. They did a lot of Geo catching, which they enjoy.
Jeff came home last night with some really good sweets. I know I shouldn't have tried one, but I did today. Then looked up the calorie count online and found the slice was 790 cals., oh my goodness. Oh well I did tried to eat better the rest of the day and did a lot of exercise. It is chocolate and peanut butter in some kind of layers with brownie, I think. Oh well now that I got it out of my system, I can stay away from it.
Will do much better tomorrow. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Nice day

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Got up this morning and got a call around 9am that the guys from Loews were on their way with the Dish Washer. I was suppose to get a call last night but never heard from them. Turns out their computer wasn't working. We are not installing it at this time, waiting for the kitchen redo. We got such a good deal on it that we are storing it in the crate until Jeff installs it.
Jeff worked so late last night and didn't get home until after I was asleep, so after midnight. He got up and went off to work a little b/4 9am thinking he would only be working 4 hours. He called me around noon to let me know he wouldn't get off work until at least 7:30pm. Poor baby must be so tired. He gets to see all the famous women that are attending this years "Woman's Conference" in Long Beach. Today it was Oprah and Mrs. Obama and a lot of other famous women. I have been trying to volunteer for this event for the last 5 years w/o much luck of getting picked. Last year they told me they would be contacting me but I never heard from them. I later learned that because of Mrs.O and Oprah being there, they decided not to have any volunteers that they hadn't used b/4. Really sucked for me. Jeff got to talk to Maria Shriver last year but he wasn't impressed with her. Thinks she was a bit stuffy.
Anyway went out to look to see if I could find a piece of furniture for the bedroom that I might like and not too pricey. Did find two pieces on sale and today only another 25% off. Of course that was when I thought Jeff would be home early and able to go over and take a look at them. I will keep looking and you never know, those pieces might still be on sale for a while.
Getting ready to watch "TBL" at 8pm. Hope to see DH sometime tonight. emoticon

I think Oprah's show yesterday was filmed early because she was in LB yesterday. Jeff got home tonight around 4:45pm and is taking a nap, then dinner. Now most likely now work until after Christmas, so after we come back from Las Vegas on the 6th it will demo time for the house and construction will start.
I went looking at some other furniture today, was cheaper but not made as well.

I saw the O show yesterday also. A bit disappointing. I bet you miss Jeff in Long Beach. Hope he's back soon. Good luck picking that furniture. Maybe it will reduce more as you wait to show Jeff.

Today is a new day.. emoticon

Hope you see what the world see in a special you.
