RHS Group day at the LA County Fair and race track!

Friday, September 17, 2010

This is only some of the members of my RHS group. That is me in the red dress on the end. Then Diana, Susan & Cathy in front, behind Diana in back is Marcia (our queen) Corrine, & Martha. Most of the gals hadn't seen me in about a year or so. They couldn't hardly believe their eyes when they saw me.
I had a great time at the races too. My first bet was free because you get a freebie when you purchase the package for the buffet lunch at the race and entrance to the fairgrounds. I placed my first bet on the 5th race and won $113. Our friend who owns race horse's always tells us to bet to win and bet what you can afford to lose. Most of the time your gonna lose but if your horse comes in you'll do good. He say's never bet on "place" or "show" because they are sucker bets. I always $5. I missed one race and was so mad because I didn't get a chance to do my bet because our group at to go down to the winner's circle for a picture.
Of course the horse I was gonna bet on won big and I would have won at around $146. emoticon. I still came home $70 ahead for the whole day.
I ate pretty good, I only had the veggies, salad no dressing, 1 sm. wheat roll and 1 sm. chicken breast. I did have 1 pc. each of carrot & cheese cake, but they are very small.
I also did 2 miles on a LS dvd in the morning b/4 I left and we walked around the fair grounds afterward bwt. 3-4 hours.
Today was busy too. My husband got home from work around 11:30am and he had about 6 Corvette buddies over and I order pizza and canoli's. Yum but they are small and I only had one. I also got up early this morning and walked 3 miles with the Phredster. I wash the corvette this evening so got some good exercise.
We are up early tomorrow for a small corvette rally up to Big Bear/Lake Arrowhead area of the San Bernardino Mts. here in S.CA. Won't be back on site until Sunday evening or Monday.
Hope you all have a fun weekend too! Peace out everyone!

New Washer/Dryer arrived today.

Thursday, September 16, 2010

My new W/D arrived today and they are so pretty. Now I just got to figure out how to use the darn things. These are front loader's so require the HE detergent and gave my reg. Tide to the family accross the street. New bottle of color water and another of reg. tide. Also Tide stain packets because they don't work in them either but you can use the liquid. Will head over to Costco on Friday to buy their HE brand because I was told it was cheaper but worked as well?? Anybody know?? Did some cleaning and took Phred for a nice walk. Went with hubby over to Lowes and looked at more stuff. Off to bed soon, will be gone tomorrow all day at the LA County Fair with my RHS gals. Good night all.

Enjoy the front loaders, I have a set and it really made a difference on my electric bill. I had no idea how much electricity my dryer was burning. Washing clothes can be a fun chore now with new appliances!

I love the front loader. I use regular sometimes - I have not had a problem with it. Because my kids have skin allergies I use All free but I think anyone would be good. Enjoy them.

I had thought a few months ago about getting new W/D set - mine are over 10 years old and I've been having to jam a wad of paper into the dryer's door so it doesn't pop open. It works fairly well, so I didn't worry too much. I'm on vacation now - finished 3 loads of wash, and now the machine won't spin. It agitates, but won't drain. Sigh. I can see where I'll be spending the next few days - checking out sales and Consumer Reports comparisons. Shoot!

Nice slow day

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Woke up and ate breakfast and read some of the paper. Then went off to run some errands. Pay the electric bill and went by KMart just because I wanted to see if I could find anything on sale. Looked at some exercise dvd's but didn't like what I saw. Look at shoes to see if I could find a cute pair that were comfortable. No luck. Did find a cotton blouse in blue that was on sale for $3.99.
Came home and ate some lunch, Worked out and took a shower. Made dinner and here I am now on Sparks/online until 10pm when the new season of "ParentHood" comes on.
Night all!

I like Parenthood, too, but looks like I get to watch it on the computer at a later date. Glad your bug was cleared out of both your body and your computer! Hope your son is doing OK now. emoticon

9/11 Trojan on Sat.

Monday, September 13, 2010

I was able to log online Sat. for about 10-15 mins. at this point I was completely knocked off of everything. I rebooted only to learn I could not get into Explorer or open anything on my laptop. Seems that I had a hidden virus/trojan that opened up as soon as I logged in on Sat. No idea where it came from or how long it had been sitting waiting in my pc. Boy was the husband pissed off and that made me sad. He kept yelling at me, that I had to have clicked something or done something. I was on Sparks and my hiking groups sites. Both of which I trust to be good sites. Anyway after having several different computer geek friends take a look at it. They tried going to safe mode and all sorts of things with no luck.
We had to contact McAfee and it took $90 and the tech had to access my pc remotely and it took 5 hours. Finally got back on this afternoon. Very nervous about opening anything that my friends send my way now. When we use Norton never had this type of problem.
Both my son and I are feeling better and I started to exercise again today. Did 5 mile fat burning LS dvd, 15 low impact aerobics on the twister thing I have and took Phred for a nice evening walk. Peace and love to all. emoticon emoticon emoticon

TGIF/Feeling better again

Saturday, September 11, 2010

This week has sort of sucked. Frank started to get sick on Monday and came home from college with a 101.2 temp. and I was also not feeling too spry either. I had a 100.1, so have just been taking it easy this last week. Poor Frank had to go to college sick because he had some quiz's and exams in a couple of his classes. I know how hard it is to go to school sick because I had done it myself. Not fun!
The new bed should be delivered on Sunday, and Jeff got sticker shock at the prices of bedding this week when he dragged me out to purchase some stuff. Two sets of sheets and a new bedspread. Even with a 20% off coupon at BBB it was still over $150 with tax.
Got up this morning and did a nice walk with Phred 3.20 in 55 mins. Jeff had started to take down the waterbed while I was gone so helped with that when I got back at the house. The city will be picking it up tomorrow. We had also put out an old chest of drawers but someone driving down the street picked it up because it was gone this morning. It was in good shape we just didn't have any room for it and a friend had given it to Jeff to see if we could use it.
Other than that I am suppose to kayak on Sunday and that will be the last one for a while with the season ending. Too bad we never really had a summer this year. In fact the last 2 days it has been so overcast and only reach 69 degrees. So strange.
Sending out skinny vibes to all my Sparks buddies and big hugs too.
Remeber to light a candle for " 9/11 " tomorrow. We shall never forget! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hope both of you are feeling better and enjoyed your kayaking trip. Today was terrible here, too. I don't think it got over 60 today and it's been raining all day.
