Took a Day Off Yesterday

Wednesday, August 04, 2010

Got up early yesterday and went with my husband to visit friends over in West Covina Hills, CA. Pat & Bob have been friends for many years and it was good to see Pat. Jeff goes up to work on Bob's car a lot but I don't go up but a few times a year. I visited with Pat and got to see her cute little Yorkie, Peebles. She had babies a while back and the last time I saw her she was just a few days away from giving birth. She had 3 pups and they sold all of them. Peebles took a bit to warm up to me but soon was kissing my fingers and letting me pet all 3.5 pounds of her.
After we left we had errands to run and Jeff dropped me off at the market for a bit while he did some things. Perfect timing when I called and said I was getting in line to pay and he said he had just pulled into the parking lot of Vons.
Came home and did several things around the house, took a nap and we ate big steaks for dinner. I also ate a few chocolate chips cookies, some chips, oreo's and ice cream after dinner, also some pistachio's and just didn't following my diet at all.
This morning around 5am or so I started going to the bathroom. My stomach hurt and I think everything I ate yesterday came out over a 4 hours period. My stomach didn't like all the junk and stuff I ate. Hardly can believe I use to eat like that and no stomach problems. Don't want to do that again.
Did 80 mins of exercise today and followed my nutrition plan today. Stomach feels so much better today.

I still miss all of the heavier foods that I used to eat. I miss the taste and the thought of them but when I eat them - they don"t agree with me and make me feel sick. So I am sorry that happened to you but it is another step in realizing what makes your body feel healthy.

I can so relate to the food in the tummy thing. I had a peach cream pie on sunday (well, a piece of...) and I felt so gross after...didn't do well with my tummy either. Such a short time and my tummy has adjusted to the better foods!

Sunday tried canoe

Sunday, August 01, 2010

Today Marc had brought along a few extra canoe's so ask me if Frank and I would like to use one. So we didn't have to pay for renting a kayak today. The first half we did very good with Frank in the back and me in front. Unfortunately Frank wanted to change positions after the break and I wasn't so good in the back. The back person steers but for some reason it keep going the wrong way when Frank would start to paddle in front. It was a pretty site on the way back or very pleasant. No one as uploaded pictures from today, so maybe tomorrow I will be able to put something on here.
A few people in the group were using the stand up paddle boards and both Frank & I got to give it a try. Frank said it was all right but wouldn't want to have to stand and balance for that long a period 1-2 hours. I did very well even turning and stuff. Going back to my surfing days in the early 70's. Never said I was very good surfer but I did use to surf about 10 times a summer using a friends board. Learned on my sister's & brother's boards when I was around 10.
Five of us went out for pizza afterwards and then we headed home. I vacuumed when I got home because I put flea powder on the carpets yesterday and left it for 24 hrs. Phred attracts fleas. We have used Advantage, nada and now trying Frontline Plus, sprayed our yard front & back 3 times in the last 2 months, sprayed the house, carpet, furniture and just about everything else without much luck. Every time I take Phred out I spray him a natural flea repellent too. Next I may have to get these pills the vet has, my neighbor Lilly uses that on her dog and it works for about 6 months and cost bwt $80-100. I am even feeding Phred garlic because that is suppose to help. I am out of ideas. Anyone have any others??

Sounds like a great workout paddling that canoe!
My son and friends paddled for hours
during the week and I was tired
just watching them!! haha
AND then...they went and played baseball!
I wish I could bottle kids energy! :)
Good for you getting out there!

I love that you are trying new things. I am sure with all of your experience with water activities that it would be easy for you to pick up the canoe. I have a cat - can't help you with the dog.

Loved all the pics! I'm jealous too. Thanks for sharing. Makes me long to get out and hike again if the darn rain and lightening storms we're getting daily will let up for a little bit. Do NOT want to be out hiking in the lkightening. The rain I could deal with.

Hiking Pictures from Friday Evening:Mojeska Cyn.

Sunday, August 01, 2010

Woke up this morning to overcast skies yet again. Walked the dog, did some errands and a couple of my exercise dvds. Made fajitas for dinner with some left over broasted chicken from the other night with corn cobs. Also burn my darn wrist when the lid sliped out of my hand. Oh well. Here are some pictures from the Mojeska hike. Just a variety showing the hills, the people hiking and some lovely wild flowers. Hope you enjoy!
This was at the top of the first hill, that is my son Frank covering his face. LOL
All smiles from Nichole, Jane and Bijan at the top of the first hill.
Sign showing to be careful/No fires allowed. The area is still recovering from the 2007 hill
Marc talking about the dry creek bed we will walk up, the path is just behind him on his left where the little opening appears bwt 2 trees.
Walking up the creek bed, there is still some water in it, in areas.
Here are a couple of the lovely wild flowers along the creek.
The group hiking, that is Frank in the yellow shirt.
Starting to head out of the canyon. By the time we got to the top it almost dark and was just a few min. from being completely dark when we reach out cars. Wonderful time was had by all and Frank is going with me again on Aug. 5th. Too bad it takes almost an hour to get there and almost 1/2 a tank of gas because of the roads/hills.
Sorry folks appears a couple of pictures didn't upload.

I know that frustration uploading photos. Sometimes its taken me five hours to get some on a blog and they don't all go in! Thanks for trying again!
Enjoy your Sunday!

I burned my wrist last week on a pan too - it is taking a long time to heal, looks ugly but thankfully has not been too painful. Hope your heals fast.

Lovely pictures. California has such beautiful and dramatic landscape so close to the water. On the East Coast they are much further apart and the mountains here are very different. It is interesting how different things are in the same country. Thanks for sharing.

Short blog tonight

Friday, July 30, 2010

My son Frank and I had a great time hiking and I will write about tomorrow. I have been tired today and my throat has been bothering me most of the day. I am thinking some type of pollen or something I may have reacted too. Have a great night all.

I know what you mean. Something has been bothering my sinuses lately...every time I go out I end up with eye irritation and a sinus headache the next day. I'll have to check the pollen count for the area and see what's bothering me. I thought it was house dust from all the moving, but it doesn't bother me so much if I stay inside.

I hope you're feeling better soon. Best wishes.
