PBS tonight with Sir Paul at the White House

Thursday, July 29, 2010

What a wonderful show tonight and it isn't over yet. The music was great and the different artists with their interpretations of McCartney songs was fantastic. Even if someone is not an Obama fan, you got to love the music of Sir Paul.

Got up and made waffles this morning for all of us. I have fresh blueberries on mine with only 2 tbsp of maple syrup. Very yummy. The I read a little bit of the paper and headed over to the gym. Yes I made it to the gym. Had a great workout doing strength for close to an hour and about the same of cardio.

When I got home I went through my coupons while I ate lunch and watch some TV. Took a shower and headed over to the market. Saved close to $37 dollars today. Not as good as normal but I still very good. Purchased some broasted chicken to have with leftover potatoes and carrots with salad tonight along with King Hawaiian bread (because Jeff loves it). He wanted me to pick him up some sweet pickles which I did. The only problem was when he went to help bring in everything the plastic bag that had them inside split and it broke all over the driveway. emoticon He wanted to pick them up and try to get all the broken glass out of them. I was your f..ing crazy it's all full of glass bits, I'll just call the store and tell them the bag split while carrying it. I have been shopping at this store so long that they told me to come by in the morning for a replacement. I have had this happen several times over the last 20 years and every time the market has replaced the item.

Woo Hoo also picked up my new glasses today. They are really large, in fact the frame is really for prescription sunglasses but I need to protect my eyes because of the prenidsone and early cataracts and these are transition's lens so they get pretty dark. And soon I will have a picture of me in them to show everyone. emoticon

Also wanted to add that my husband and I saw Sir Paul/Wings in the early 90"s at Angel Stadium here in Anaheim and it was one of most fantastic live shows I have ever witness.

That's wonderful that you got to see Sir Paul live. I know what you mean about the sacks breaking. I have an old time record of Paul's from the Wings collection. Do those things sell still? I missed the show but I didn't really hear about it til later and I think I went to ARM that night.

Tuesday pretty busy

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Got up this morning and then headed over to my doctors for my blood work, Protime. This is something that needs to be done about once a month if a person is on blood thinners like I am, along with l/d aspirin. I am going to stay on the same dose. I was really hoping to lower the dose because I don't like taking 5 or 6 mgs a day because if I cut myself it doesn't stop bleeding very easily.

Came home and read a little bit of the paper while having a Zone bar and then took Phred out for a walk/jog. After that I started in on the topiaries again to finish the last 2 with the large trimmer. I still have about 2 days left of work with the small trimmer to shape them better.
It was after 1pm and I came in to have some lunch and rest. Then at 3pm did a 5 mile LS dvd and showered. I then got on Sparks for a little while and made dinner. Hamburgers again with fruit cups but the guys also had chips.

After dinner Frank and I took Phred out for a short walk and I got back on Sparks while the tv is on. I also may go back to ATT to update my phone. My husband decided today to get rid of his phone and just use the company phone now. So I could go back and get a nice smart phone 2 for the price of 1 at $19 and get text/internet for what I have been paying for his phone. We would go now to only 2 cells phones. I don't know what I would do with the new phone I just purchased, it was only $32, just a cheap phone but I would love if they would give me a credit. Also I notice that T-Mobile gives unlimited texting for only $20 and ATT wants $30. So maybe I can swing something with the guy by saying I could just switch over to T-Mobile for cheaper. ATT wants to keep customers so you never know if he would do that for me or not. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Check around with different plans. I used a service, I can't remember the name right now, but they charged $5.00 for 1,000 text which was way enough for me to use. Also their phone was only $20.00 I didn't have a camera phone but I thought it was worth it. Also I'm on U.S. Cellular and we have enough minutes my DD and I and we each pay $5.00 a piece for 250 text, with all incoming not counting and any after 7 and weekends not counting. They are free then. We pay for 1,000 minutes that we share and all incoming don't count, after 7 and weekends are free and any between same company are free.

Good or bad Monday, depends on how you look at it!

Got up this morning to overcast and cool morning. Jeff was suppose to work today so I was a bit surprise to find him still at home. Turns out his boss had been trying to call him on the company phone (which Jeff leaves in his truck) to tell him to come to work yesterday afternoon. So Jeff missed out on some work hours which sucks. What really pissed both of us off is he called the company phone 4 times and never once bothered to call Jeff's cell or the house phone. Jeff's company only gave him a cell phone a little under 2 months ago. He asked them if he needed to keep it with him at all time and his boss said no because they could reach him on his cell or the house phone. emoticon

I took Phred for the longest walk he has ever done just under 4 miles and he did really well. I talked to Irene while I walk some and my cell phone was working fine. When I got home it was dead and that was weird because I just charged it Saturday night and forgot to take it with us kayaking, so really it was plugged in almost half of Sunday too. I also checked it for messages and none was there. I have not been getting some messages for a few days which sucks because Irene left me a message on Sat. & Sunday.

So I get home and it is dead, won't charge. Nothing, nada. I head over to the local ATT store and the first thing the person asks me is if I am on the account. I pay the phone bill but the bill only has my husbands name on it. End up having to call Jeff to come over to Fullerton to add me onto the account because I took his phone with me because we thought we could get a new phone w/o having to pay because we hadn't updated in about 4 yrs. Nope they don't do that anymore, so he goes forget my phone works fine. I asked if he wanted a new phone it could have texting and stuff, in fact we could get 2 nice phones for $19 with a new contract. He was "No". The only good thing was that he let me sign us up for ATTUniverse for the PC's and wow we will finally have cable tv.

We still use the free air waves with the antenna on the roof. We can use OnDemand now to watch movies if we want. Since Blockbuster left we haven't been able to rent movies so Jeff has been going out and buying them. I think if we only do this a few times a month it will still be cheaper than the $4.99 BB was charging to rent one new movie.

After leaving the ATT store I went right next store to Henrys' Farmers Market (health food store) and looked around. And they had Dragon Fruit @ $8.99 a pound. I had to buy one and one was a pound. I know that is really expensive but I just wanted one. I also purchased a rump roast for dinner and baby carrots. I added potatoes when I cooked the meat and use fresh garlic along with 1/2 package Lipton's Onion Soup for spice. The guys had some apple sauce on the side and I had 10 calorie jello.

When I got home it was almost 2pm so ate a light lunch and about 3pm started to get the roast ready and into the oven. Then went outside and worked on my topiaries for about 65 min.
After dinner took Phred on a little bit longer walk than normal for the evening. emoticon

So Phred is getting in shape too. People get dogs as motivation to go out and walk, but it's neat that as we get in shape with them, so do our pets. You're probably very good for Phred's health.

Cell phone troubles are the pits and the companies are not any help. Good luck with them!

Dinner sounds great, I just may have to pull a roast out of my freezer and get the crock pot going!

Back at Kayaking on Sunday/Woo Hoo

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Had a great day today with the boys. We went kayaking with my MeetUp OCHiking group at Huntington Harbor again. The weather was a bit cool for most of the morning with overcast, it even sprinkle a little bit. But once again by the time we were getting ready to leave out mid point break the sun was trying to break through the clouds.
Here I am again bringing up the rear and keeping an eye on the newbies.
Here I am with Gina, her gentleman friend Jerry and his little girl. The sun was starting to come out.

Jory and Frank eating lunch, there is Sunset Beach/Pacific Ocean behind them.

I hate is when you are eating and someone decides to take a picture and asks everyone to smile. I had a mouth full of food. This is a nice group picture with Marc out leader on the right then Frank, Jory, Nichole, me at the end in pink, Jane (Nichole's mom), Bijan and some of the other members whom I can't remember their names. My memory is short. LOL

After we ate, the boys and I walked around for about 20 mins. then headed back to the car. Came home and I shower and went to the market to pick up milk and stuff for dinner. Unfortunately Jory girlfriend Eve decided to head back to AZ on time and they left around 3:30pm instead of the normal 9pm. Did get a short walk in with the Phredster. Hope you all had a great weekend too.

Wow, look like a very good time, a bit envy, hehe. I did kayaking at my university where the lake was about my waist-high - I'm 5ft 2" so imagine how "deep" the lake was, hehe.

Glad you had such a great day. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but still have it on my list of things I want to do. I would have loved to try it when I was in California and on vacation but there wasn't enough time and my brother and his family weren't interested. I'm not giving up though! And I just love reading your stories so keep 'em coming.

Nice day today.

Saturday, July 24, 2010

Our weather has been nice and cool for the last couple of days. I know it is suppose to be summer but I think the ones complaining are the people who came here to visit from out of state. They wrote about it is the paper today because the coast has been overcast and really cool for the last couple of days. No sunshine at all so all the rich hotels down in S.OC are hurting like in Laguna and Newport Beach.

Jory showed up last night around 10:30pm and it was good to see him again. He will be going with Frank and I kayaking tomorrow. Will be overcast again but most likely not as cool as it was when we went on the 3rd of July. Went over to StaterBros this morning to get a few items for dinner Rib eye on sale for $3.99 pd., so picked up 4 of them with salad and potatoes for the guys.

Took Phred for a nice morning walk, did LS:DVD 5 miles with 5#weights, walkbelt and resistance band and then Phred got a short walk after dinner.

Just been hanging out on the net doing Sparks and IMing my daughter in OK. Also talked to her this afternoon. Her hours got cut again at work. Makes me so mad she doesn't look or can't get a better job because of the area where she lives and doesn't have a decent car to drive to Tulsa. Wish her and her boyfriend could find jobs in Tulsa so they could make more money, get a better place to live and be able to save because they both want to move back here.

Have a nice Sunday everyone.
