Got up this morning to it being very warm, yet again. Took Phred in for a grooming at 10:30am then hit the market for abou an hour or so. Came home, had lunch and then did the house work for over 2 hrs. Time to pick up the dog. Take a few mins to relax, get on Sparks, start dinner, walk Phred for a short one, wash the car. Shower, get on Sparks again.
Have a problem with the dishwasher again. It cleans but doesn't empty out the water sometimes. Husband checked and he is stumped. Going to bed soon. Thats it for now. Tootles
Got up this morning and took Phred for a walk around 8am. God it was so hot already that we only did 28 mins. Came home and ate breakfast, read some paper and then headed over to Santa Ana around 10am to go to REI.
The traffic sucked for some reason and it took a while to get the 15 or miles on the freeway to get there. I tried on about 6 pairs of hiking shoes. Turned out the first ones were the best fit. They do a great job here of helping you get the right fit and have a great return policy too.
I also purchased another water bottle to make up for the one that Jory lost over 4th of July weekend after we went kayaking. He left it at the restaurant where we had pizza. My friend Irene works at REI and can get a 30% discount when she buys gifts. So I had Wayne put the shoes on a 24 hrs hold and when I left she came out to visit with me on a short break. I gave her the paperwork and she picked them up and brought them by the house this afternoon. With tax they were $61 dollars and had been reduced to $80, so I did alright. When I walked Phred this evening I worn them so I could see how they feel. Very comfortable but can know for sure until I do some hikes in the hills. Flat land will break them in but I won't know how my toes do until I get a good hike in them.
After I came back from REI it was after 12:30pm and I had lunch and my husband wanted to watch "Shriek 3" that he a purchased a while back. I had seen it b/4 but he hadn't and I always forget how funny these movies are. I hope the newest one if just as good. I wanted to exercise this afternoon but I was just plan tired out and so I rested for a while. Made dinner and then took Phred out for that evening walk I talked about in the last paragraph. I was so hot when I got back all I did was just into the shower and then it was close to 8pm b/4 I got on Sparks tonight. Jeff and my son are watching some movie from a few years ago with Harrison Ford and a whole bunch of other stars. It is a war movie.
Got up about 8am and was going to take the dog for a walk. It was already close to 80 degrees so I apologized to Phred and said not today buddy, maybe later on this evening.
I head over to the gym about 9:30am or so. Did a nice 35 min. Circuit training routine on various machines. I then head downstairs to the elliptical and did 60 mins on Level 5/Random setting, did 6.10 miles. After that I went on the stationary bike for 25 mins just for a change of pace. Felt really good.
With the weather having warmed up so much I will be hitting the gym again. I really need to get up at 7am in order to walk Phred for an hour. It is just went the alarm goes off I get up and use the bathroom take my meds I have to take 1 hr b/4 eating and then I lay back down and fall asleep again. The house has the A/C on 24/7 because that is how my husband likes it and he is willing to pay for it. Also with Lupus you are not suppose to be in extremes of heat/cold and he uses it as an excuse.
Did a phone bank tonight and that gets annoying. I hate calling people up to get their opinions and bother them at home but sometimes you got do what makes you uncomfortable in order to stand up for what you believe in.
The weather really change over the last 24 hours. We are now in a heat wave. cool and cloudy for the couple of months. I wanted summer, yes and now it is here. I am still trying to get up earlier in the morning for walking Phred. Just feel like lazing in bed every morning, even after sleeping 8 or 9 hours.
Had a 2pm eye exam appointment. The car was so hot because it is black. I almost burned my rear end on the sit and I have a shade on the front window. Dr. Berry's office is so close I could walk but it was just too hot. He always does the full exam and dilates your eyes. I didn't want to walk home after that because I always get just a bit of a head ache from the drops. I should be getting my new glass in about 7 days.
I have been on steroids (prenidsone) for close to 25 yrs now with a only a few times being off of it 89' for 6 months and from spring of '08 - spring 09'. The problem with long term steroid use is that they can cause side effects, some bad. The last time I had an exam 2 yrs ago Dr.B noticed some cataracts in one eye, not bad, nothing too worry about. Now he says I have some small cataracts in both eyes but they are not causing me problems yet. That is not what I want to hear because I know it is only a matter of time. He says it is age but I know that at 54 I could start to bet cataracts but not very common. Mostly you get it when you get a bit older. Of course the only good thing is if it get bad enough I can have surgery and get my eyes corrected so I wouldn't have to wear glasses at all. (This is what happen to my ex husband and the surgery corrected his eye site and he no longer had to wear glasses or contacts.) Oh well I am sort of stuck taking the prenidsone because I have tried some of the other drugs with ill effects. I am also currently taking Celcept and have no idea if this drug can cause this problem. I will have to check the internet and see.
Have a nice tomorrow everyone. Will take a picture in my new glasses once I get them.
Got up this morning late and the sun was out and it was already getting warm. Today was laundry day for my clothes. Had 3 loads to do and started doing them. I then made my husband and I egg sandwiches for breakfast on whole wheat bread with Romaine and tomatoes. I also had some pepper jack cheese for a kick. I use honey mustard while the hubby uses whole mayo. He never diets, say's it is against his religion
Anyway we watch another movie today. We have seen it b/4 but Jeff purchased it a couple of weeks ago. Robin Hood, Prince of Thefts with Kevin Costner & Morgan Freeman, I forgot it had so many amusing parts.
I made dinner for Jeff and I to eat around 3pm. I made Porterhouse Steaks on the grill and I had a wheat roll, and later salad with a pear. The steaks were good but very big. This is his last evening working at FanFest 2010 and tomorrow they will start to take it all down.
Did 1 walk with Phred this evening and a LS:5 mile walk using 5# weight, walking belt and resistance bands. I also wore ankle weights that were 1 1/2# on each leg. Listening and watching JM tonight. This couple really needed her help.
