Monday Monday so good to me.

Monday, July 19, 2010

Why would I say that. Well today I did perfect on my nutrition goals. I have had that happen only a few times since starting tracking in Nov. Sometimes I am just a few points high or low on something. Not today, everything just right. emoticon

Got up a little late today, which surprised me. I even fell asleep watching "The Gates" last night and have no idea how it ended. Anybody see this show who can tell me what happen the last 15-20 mins. of the show??

Anyway drove over to AAA to pay the car insurance on all the cars, stopped by Petco for FrontLine+ (Advantage didn't work on my dog at all, in fact went through a 4 month supply in 2 1/2 months). We have sprayed the yard, the house, the furniture. All to no avail, our little dog gets fleas. We had my big old dog Lucy for years and she never had fleas and I never had to use anything but the cheap stuff and she was fine. Not Phred the Wonder Dog, the groomer said some dogs Advantage doesn't work on, gee no kidding.

After Petco went over to Target to pick up stuff, Aveena Sun Screen, some new lip gloss. Had coupons for everything and most everything I purchased was on sale and still spent almost $90, so exciting to get home and see the tax was almost $9. That just kills me to spend that amount on taxes. emoticon

Got home in time to see AMC(soap) and have lunch. Then did TBL "Bootcamp" w/Bob and LS:Fast 4 miles w/boosted walking (jogging). Showered, got on Sparks, started dinner
Chicken Breasts, Whole Grain Rice, French style Green Beans (no salt), King Hawaiian Rolls (2) and no sugar mixed fruit cup and 10 oz. 1% milk. Cleaned up the kitchen.

After I finished up with the kitchen my son and I took Phred out for an evening walk. I am so happy it has cooled off so much. Felt so nice with a breeze. Ah refreshing!

I hope to get into the gym tomorrow after going to the bank for the hubby. He is working again for a few days.

Sounds like a busy day. I rarely get all the nutrition trackers just right. - although I really just pay attention to calories and protein. I am always amazed how a few things add up to so much money.

Already after 10pm so just a short blog tonight

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Got up this morning to it being very warm, yet again. Took Phred in for a grooming at 10:30am then hit the market for abou an hour or so. Came home, had lunch and then did the house work for over 2 hrs. Time to pick up the dog. Take a few mins to relax, get on Sparks, start dinner, walk Phred for a short one, wash the car. Shower, get on Sparks again.
Have a problem with the dishwasher again. It cleans but doesn't empty out the water sometimes. Husband checked and he is stumped. Going to bed soon. Thats it for now. Tootles

Sounds like a productive day. I'll bet Phred looks spiffy. Your house too. I never spend enough time working on mine.

It's been hot here too. Hang in there, September is coming. Only six more weeks of summer to go!

It has been very warm here, today, too. In fact, for the past 4 days or so, we have had a heat advisory with Heat indexes up to 108! It has been uncharacteristically humid here, which is making the heat such a problem. I am sitting up with this Left leg elevated most of the day, so am not getting out at all. That is probably a good thing!! But, cannot get any exercise except working my abdominal muscles! Showed the house for the first time yesterday, the lady who came was enamored with our horses, and Matt says, she took more pictures of the horses than she did the land or house!! emoticon emoticon

Hm - dishwashers seem intricately linked to my kitchen sink and its clogs. I know nothing about them but when one clogs they both do. Stay cool.

Hope Phred enjoyed the grooming and looks good! When my dishwasher wasn't emptying all the way, I ran a couple loads and it straightened out. Hope yours does, too. Take care.

Friday was just alright

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Got up this morning and took Phred for a walk around 8am. God it was so hot already that we only did 28 mins. Came home and ate breakfast, read some paper and then headed over to Santa Ana around 10am to go to REI.

The traffic sucked for some reason and it took a while to get the 15 or miles on the freeway to get there. I tried on about 6 pairs of hiking shoes. Turned out the first ones were the best fit. They do a great job here of helping you get the right fit and have a great return policy too.
I also purchased another water bottle to make up for the one that Jory lost over 4th of July weekend after we went kayaking. He left it at the restaurant where we had pizza. My friend Irene works at REI and can get a 30% discount when she buys gifts. So I had Wayne put the shoes on a 24 hrs hold and when I left she came out to visit with me on a short break. I gave her the paperwork and she picked them up and brought them by the house this afternoon. With tax they were $61 dollars and had been reduced to $80, so I did alright. When I walked Phred this evening I worn them so I could see how they feel. Very comfortable but can know for sure until I do some hikes in the hills. Flat land will break them in but I won't know how my toes do until I get a good hike in them.

After I came back from REI it was after 12:30pm and I had lunch and my husband wanted to watch "Shriek 3" that he a purchased a while back. I had seen it b/4 but he hadn't and I always forget how funny these movies are. I hope the newest one if just as good. I wanted to exercise this afternoon but I was just plan tired out and so I rested for a while. Made dinner and then took Phred out for that evening walk I talked about in the last paragraph. I was so hot when I got back all I did was just into the shower and then it was close to 8pm b/4 I got on Sparks tonight. Jeff and my son are watching some movie from a few years ago with Harrison Ford and a whole bunch of other stars. It is a war movie.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Good shoes are a real help with workouts. Glad to hear you got them at a discount. I'm hearing you where the heat is concerned. I'm getting up earlier all the time. Of course, I'll get lazy again once autumn rolls around.

Nice of your friend to let you use her discount. I hear you with the heat. I got up and did my run at 6:30 this morning to avoid it.

Hope you have a great weekend - Teri. I think we are all suffering from the heat - too tired to work out. I am glad that you found some new shoes - comfortable, functional shoes are worth there weight in gold.

Woo Hoo made it to the gym./new weight 149.2 today!

Friday, July 16, 2010

Got up about 8am and was going to take the dog for a walk. It was already close to 80 degrees so I apologized to Phred and said not today buddy, maybe later on this evening.
I head over to the gym about 9:30am or so. Did a nice 35 min. Circuit training routine on various machines. I then head downstairs to the elliptical and did 60 mins on Level 5/Random setting, did 6.10 miles. After that I went on the stationary bike for 25 mins just for a change of pace. Felt really good.

With the weather having warmed up so much I will be hitting the gym again. I really need to get up at 7am in order to walk Phred for an hour. It is just went the alarm goes off I get up and use the bathroom take my meds I have to take 1 hr b/4 eating and then I lay back down and fall asleep again. The house has the A/C on 24/7 because that is how my husband likes it and he is willing to pay for it. Also with Lupus you are not suppose to be in extremes of heat/cold and he uses it as an excuse.

Did a phone bank tonight and that gets annoying. I hate calling people up to get their opinions and bother them at home but sometimes you got do what makes you uncomfortable in order to stand up for what you believe in.

Going to bed in a little while. Night all.

Poor Phred! Someone needs to start an indoor, atmosphere controlled track for people who want to walk their dogs in the summer. I'll bet it would be popular.

6.10- miles is awesome! Keeping the AC on all the time must get pretty pricey... but if it makes him comfortable- I guess you do what you have to do :)

I love your dedication to exercise - you really put in the effort. We have our A/C cranked up too and the bills are so high. I can stand the heat during the day but the night I need it cold. Hope you and Phred get your walk in.

Hot Wednesday/Eye Exam today

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

The weather really change over the last 24 hours. We are now in a heat wave. cool and cloudy for the couple of months. I wanted summer, yes and now it is here. I am still trying to get up earlier in the morning for walking Phred. Just feel like lazing in bed every morning, even after sleeping 8 or 9 hours.

Had a 2pm eye exam appointment. The car was so hot because it is black. I almost burned my rear end on the sit and I have a shade on the front window. Dr. Berry's office is so close I could walk but it was just too hot. He always does the full exam and dilates your eyes. I didn't want to walk home after that because I always get just a bit of a head ache from the drops. I should be getting my new glass in about 7 days.

I have been on steroids (prenidsone) for close to 25 yrs now with a only a few times being off of it 89' for 6 months and from spring of '08 - spring 09'. The problem with long term steroid use is that they can cause side effects, some bad. The last time I had an exam 2 yrs ago Dr.B noticed some cataracts in one eye, not bad, nothing too worry about. Now he says I have some small cataracts in both eyes but they are not causing me problems yet. That is not what I want to hear because I know it is only a matter of time. He says it is age but I know that at 54 I could start to bet cataracts but not very common. Mostly you get it when you get a bit older. Of course the only good thing is if it get bad enough I can have surgery and get my eyes corrected so I wouldn't have to wear glasses at all. (This is what happen to my ex husband and the surgery corrected his eye site and he no longer had to wear glasses or contacts.) Oh well I am sort of stuck taking the prenidsone because I have tried some of the other drugs with ill effects. I am also currently taking Celcept and have no idea if this drug can cause this problem. I will have to check the internet and see.

Have a nice tomorrow everyone. Will take a picture in my new glasses once I get them. emoticon

After my mother had cataract surgery she only had to wear reading glasses after years and years of glasses. I was told on exams over the past 5 years that I have very small cataracts also but not a problem yet either. The first opthamologist told me we actually start developing cataracts frequently in our late 20's but are so small we don't notice them for many years. I was very surprised to hear that.

Take care of your eyes - they are too valuable to risk. I am sorry that you need to be on long term medication - that must be tough on your body. It has been very very hot here in DC. Hottest June on record and July has been just as hot. We have had a few recent rainy cooler days but today is right back up there in heat. I will be wishing it was hot come January so I will enjoy it while it is here. Take care and cool!

I enjoy my contacts- but actually like wearing glasses too. They have so many fun and cute options now. Wearing glasses is cool- not like 20 years ago when you were a dork if you wore them :) Can't wait to see your pics!
