Monday at the movies

Tuesday, July 06, 2010

Got up this morning and it was still coold and overcast. Damm! emoticonWe are still waiting for warm weather around here. The average temp. for the last month or so has been in the mid to upper 70's. This is S.CA it is suppose to be around 90 by now or hotter.
Had a nice walk with Phred and took him on a new path. He did very well.

Came home and did a few things around the house , then showered to get ready to take my neighbor and her girls to the movies. Frieda wanted to see "The Last Air Bender" and althought I had not read very good reviews on it. Someone on one of my teams and friends list said her family hadn't cared for it either. So was not expecting too much. But wow we all liked it very much and Frieda says there should 2 or 3 more of these movies to complete the series. I was able to follow along without having any prior knowledge of this book or cartoon or where ever it orginated at. That was one of the complaints in the newspaper reviewer about following along. The person must be an idiot not to have been able to keep up with this movie.

We went out to a mexican restaurant. Shouldn't have had a Chili Releno but I love them and don't have Mexican very often. Went over some on my calories today. Christina's 19th birthday was yesterday and after the movie my girlfriends husband met us for dinner there. They sang ""Happy Birthday" to her and bought her Flan with a candle. She took a bite and then looks at me and "I dont' like Flan". So I had 3 bites, Frieda had 2 bites and her parents Rosa and Francisco finished it. Was a lot of fun today.

Sounds like an awesome day! I'm ready for June gloom to go away. It wasn't fun riding my bike yesterday with it semi-misty sprinkling...

Sounds like a fun day. It is close to 100 here in DC - I would love to share some with you - it is blazing and two of our cars have broken A/C. I have not seen Airbender but I like that kind of movie - I will need to check it out.

I was at a reunion and overate some of my favorites. Back to basics this week.

Quiet 4th of July/New microwave

Monday, July 05, 2010

The men got home last night around midnight. I was still up and then my husband went to bed and the stayed up yaking. Husband sleeps through anything, unfortunately me not so easy. I ended up sleeping in until 10:30am so really did nothing at all.

I was using the microwave and it just stopped working. Felt so hot on the sides, knew something had burned out. Took the boys with me over to K-Mart to buy one on sale. It is all shiney and new. Stopped by the market to pick up some stuff for dinner.

Didn't do much today. Made hamburgers to grill for dinner, took the dog for a short walk and was just plan lazy. I didn't even get dress until afternoon. LOL Oh well going to bed soon and will get up early tomorrow to take Phred out in the AM. Taking my friends daughters to the movies tomorrow for their birthdays. One was at the end of May and the other is today.
We are going to see "Avatar: air bender". Not the big hit one from earlier in the year. This is a kids movie. Good night all.

I have two, very old microwaves and they work enough that I can't justify getting a new one! I would love it though!

My son saw Airbender and he said that all the bad reviews of it were accurate. Hoped you enjoyed it though!

Sounds like a nice holiday - relaxed and easy. My microwave is 26 years old - it is like an antique. I can't figure out some of the new ones - but enjoy your new one!! Enjoy the movie!

Kayaking with Frank on his 24th birthday.

Sunday, July 04, 2010

Today I took my son with me kayaking. He has gone with b/4 but this time his foster brother was in town and I took both of them. It was a blast and then we went to this pizza place that looks like a little hole in the wall but great food. They only make the pizza once you order it and you see the making it. We have walked by this place several times b/4 when we went out to eat lunch at Harry's Grill and I always say to Frank "Man, that smells so good, we ought to try this place sometime." We are glad we did. Here is a picture of my boys and me. Jory is on my right and Frank is on the left/.
Here is a picture of Jory kayaking:

And today's group shot:

After we got home today we just rested up and clean up (showered). You get a lot of salt water on your skin. Later I took Phred for a 55 min walk and my husband took us to dinner where Frank wanted to go. He picked a place called "Hat's Pastrami" in Brea. I was very good and ordered the turkey on whole wheat with only tomato and lettuce.

Frank has asked his Dad since he was 21 if they could go one night to this gentleman's club called "Fritz's" . So you can guess where my men are tonight. I just hope he has a good time because he has never been to anyplace like that b/4. Not even when he and his dad when to Las Vegas for his 21st birthday, because they were just passing through town on their way to Colorado.

Want to get up early in the morning and maybe take Phred with me on a walk along the SAR walkway. Everyone have a safe and sane 4th of July!

I'm jealous!!! If I weren't so scared to death of water, I'd be out there kayaking with you! I'll just wave from the shore and take pictures instead! Great picture, btw!

Early up, early to bed

Friday, July 02, 2010

I got up this morning at 5:45am this morning because I was suppose to go walking with Irene. She called about 20 mins to say she was ill. So I took out Phred before breakfast. Since it is starting to get warm I will have to start getting up earlier to avoid the heat.
Came home and made waffles for Jeff and I. I only use 1 TBSP maple syrup because I use frozen blackberries that I heat up and make a fast compote in the microwave.

Went to the bank to get my disablity payment money and put money in the checking to pay the bills. Then I cleaned house for a few hours. Rested up and made dinner and took Phred out for his after dinner walk. Tomorrow kayaking with the boys.

Did 11.92 miles total today

Friday, July 02, 2010

Got up early and went on a Santa Ana River walk today that was close to 6 miles with my friend Irene. I also did my LS dvd that was 5 miles where I use 3 pounds weight, walking belt and resistance band and took the dog for a walk.

We stopped on the way home at this new market they opened up the street. It is a traditional hispanic market with a full meat, bakery and just about anything like fresh salsa, pico de cayo(sp) and all kinds of stuff. I spoke to the manager/owner and he showed me the store add and that Thursdays are meat specials. They had some good deals today, Rib Eye steak was on sale today for $2.99 a pound. Unbelievable price here.

Going hiking again tomorrow so going to bed in a little while. Have a nice day all.
