6/3 Thursday

Thursday, June 03, 2010

Got up to go to the bank where my disbility payment is done with direct deposit. Love the 3rd of the month, was getting a little bit low on my funds. Paid the house bills that I pay every month Gas and ATT that includes house, 3 cells phones and DSL.

Came home and took Phred for a walk. Was still cloudy when we started but was pretty darn warm by the time we got home. Suppose to be really hot this weekend, even at the beach. Frank and I kayak on Sunday morning and they expect it to be 80 degrees. Of course the water will be the normal year round temp. of 68-69 degrees. Never warms up here on the West Coast, is a surprise for people who come to visit from the East Coast.

Did "30 Day Shred" JM and "Fast 3 miles Waistline w/walkbelt" LS and took Phred for his evening walk.

Made ribs with salad and Pork&Beans for dinner. My husbands friend Bob was over and tried one of the ribs. The mans face lit up and couldn't believe how good they were. Even asked how I cooked them. Told him I par-boiled first b/4 a short time on the BBQ.
He said his never tasted that way and he did that. I said did you add spices to the water. Got the blank man face and "No". Told him my secrect is , now don't anyone tell, but it is dried crushed red peppers and Zararain's Creole Seasoning. I also put in celery salt and garlic powder w/parsley. This really gives the meat a jolt but not too hot with the BBQ sauce on it.
Yummy! emoticon

Another strange weather Wednesday

Thursday, June 03, 2010

Woke up this morning to overcast and cool weather. Was very warm by noon. Did some marketing while it was cool outside and then came home and did Phreds morning walk. Forgot to wear my hat so didn' t take a long one as it started to get too sunny and warm.

Got my son up so he could go to a job fair near Disneyland. We are ever hopeful he will get a job but so far nothing has come up. He has been w/o a job since March 2009. Frank has gone to every job fair he can in that time. Just so many people looking for work with more qualifications. We are still paying everything for him food, rent, car insurance and college. He still has some money saved up so he does pay for his own gas. He doesn't go out much and if I didn't pay for him to go kayaking or bowling with me he would never do too much.

Did one of my Leslie Sansone dvd's "5 miles fat burning". Normal stuff one does during the day, cleaned up things, showered, read paper, watch a little tv. Made dinner and am listening to PBS tonight because they have a special on featuring "Carol King/James Taylor at the Troubadour in Hollywood". Would have loved to see them here in July. Hubby may still get tickets but we will be in the "nose bleed" section at this point. Well at least the Home Depot Ctr is just down the street. emoticon emoticon

Hey Xena - my oldest just graduated from college so I know about the job market - have not been in it as long as you have with your son but I hope that something will turn around soon. I have heard good things about the Leslie Sansone tapes - I should try them. Hope you enjoyed your show.

June 1st. Would have been my Moms 83rd Birthday

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

Today marks what would have been my mothers' 83rd birthday. I think she spun my Sparks Point wheel for me today because I hit 20 points! My mom loved all games. She was a smoker for many years and even though she had stopped a few years b/4 her cancer diagnosis I am not sure if that would have been enough. All I would like to see is more young people not smoking. I was a smoker myself for many years but stopped "Cold Turkey" over 12 yrs ago. I have asthma which I didn't get until after I stopped with the cigs. My husband and foster son Jory both smoke. My husband has tried to stop w/o much luck and our family doctor has talked to him many times about quitting. Jeff wants to stop but has no will power at all.

Woke up this morning with a headache, so maybe eating over my calorie limit yesterday did it . I did have Teriyaki Chicken and maybe they used MSG in the teriyaki sauce. Was cloudy and overcast again, so I did take Phred out for our long walk of over 3 miles. Had to take a tylenol first and felt much better after the exercise. Still am tired so plan on going to bed after "Hells Kitchen" is over. Go Chef Ramsey! emoticon

Happy Birthday to your mom. I am glad that you stopped smoking and that your asthma cleared up. There are so many factors to health - you are obviously working on food and fitness on spark but things like smoking are so important too. I hope that the second hand smoke from your family does not hurt you also. Sounds like you got a great walk in - good for you.

End of the Memorial Day weekend

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

We had a nice visit with our foster son Jory and his girlfriend Eve today. Jory stayed here most of the weekend but Eve stay with her Mom. Went to the market and picked up a few items we needed. Came home and when Eve got here she went through some clothes I had in bags that are now too big for me in sizes from 12 - 16. She picked out a few things and the rest I will take over to Goodwill or one of the other charities.

Walked Phred 35 mins this AM and 17 this PM. Did my "Advanced 5 mile" with Leslie Sansone using handweight, walkbelt and resistance band.

Jeff took Frank and I out to a little local restaurant for dinner. I went over my calorie count today but not going to stress about it because the last couple of weeks I have gone way over on my exercise mins.

Hope everyone had a safe and sane Memorial Day weekend. Peace to all!

So nice that you got to visit with your foster son and his girlfriend! Doesn't it feel good to be getting rid of those clothes? I need to start going through some of mine, though I haven't made much change in size yet. Don't worry about the extra calories, it was a Holiday, and those don't come very often! Thinking of you, and congrats on passing another fitness milestone! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hot Sunday/Indy500 & NASCAR

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Today was a lazy day for me. I went to bed after midnight last night and slept in. Bad me, not! I got up and started some laundry and changed some sheets and the towels. Watched the Indy 500 and then did JM's "30 Day Shred" and showered. Then NASCAR was one and I talked to my sister in NY for about an hour or so.
Played on Sparks and got some other things done and time to make dinner. Grilled trout, raw carrots sticks, mini corn cobs, Saffron rice and a cold glass of 1% milk.
Did walk Phred after dinner with both boys. Jory is visiting for the weekend. That's about it.
Everyone have a great Memorial Day tomorrow! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like a good productive weekend to me. Of course, any time that I actually exercise I consider it a win. Your dinner sounds delicious - I have never heard of mini corn cobs. Are they just young or do they grow them that way? Anyway have a great Memorial Day.
