Costco day.

I go to Costco about every 6 - 8 weeks, just about the time we run out of toilet paper and kleenix. I picked up some kiwi, salmon and trout along with my dark chocolate favorite Acai.
Came home and took Phred for a good 40 min. walk except I am starting to jog a little so cut this walk by about 7 mins. by doing that.
Talk to my daughter Samra tonight. She got the package of goodies I sent her. She loves Polly's Pies (here in CA0 and you can buy fresh breads, cookies, jams and they have the best oatmeal. So I picked her up some stuff and sent in to her along with some old photos from her childhood, like her first bath as a wee baby. Her friends got a kick out of them and so did she. I had doubles of these and figured she needed to have her own copies. Not going to be online for much longer tonight going to watch "TBL' in the bedroom, husband watches NCIS out here. At least with Lost no longer on I won't be missing the last half hour anymore (no we don't have cable, satellite or a DVR) so I would watch Lost at 9pm and switch back to TBL at commercials. I have missed so many shows now since I use my VHS anymore to tape shows. Oh well. Lets see what tomorrow will bring.

Mystery of the dish washer

Jeff has been trying to fix my dishwasher for a few days. He has gone over everything about 10 times and all the dishes are still coming out like the rinse cycle is not working. Finally called the MayTag guy today and he told Jeff some other things to do. Only thing the filter was pretty clean and the dishwasher was really clean for one 6 years old. So the guy said he would stop by just to check. He checked everything and the only thing that changed in the last 10 days is I opened a new box of Cascade, which I purchased about 2 weeks ago. The box design is different, a lime green. So he said somehow it went bad. I went back to the store today and on purpose I purchase a box of Cascade that still had the old design. I am going to try it and see if it cleans. If it was the box of detergent I am going to Cascade and let them know about it.

Anyway this MayTag guy named Tan is so sweet, he doesn't want to charge us because he was in the area and the husband had done all the work. He just checked everything Jeff had already inspected. So Jeff still gives him $40 dollars and says to me, "Aren't you having some kind of problem with the oven". I was like "yeah it doesn't seem to cook correctly or evenly anymore". So the heating element wasn't working correctly. The stove was purchased in late 1992 or early 1993, so they have to be replaced about every 7 yrs and we had done it once b/4. So even though we don't know if the dishwasher is working yet at least the stove is now working great.

Took Phred for a good walk this morning and then I was tired today. I tried to stay up to see the last show of "Lost" last night which ended at 11:35pm. I fell asleep for the last couple of mins. and had to look at it this morning online. I did wash my car and take Phred for another walk. Going to bed early tonight.

Kayaking in the wind and cold air

Frank and I went to Huntington Harbor again today for kayaking. Was very cloudy and cold this morning. Weatherman said 20% chance of rain. We got to the beach and no clouds at in the sky. Winds were blowing inland but they were cold out of Alaska. We had fun but had to work hard at paddling today because of the wakes and wind. Right at the end when I was getting out of my kayak and had put my paddle in the boat the wind caught me and I fell back, the kayak and paddle heading back out. One thing your are responsible for your equipment, so I ended up almost to my waist in the water trying to get the boat and paddle back. Man when the wind hit me I got goose bumps all over. This happened to a few people, it was pretty tough today. Glad the car was close by, Frank and I headed over right away, just saying bye to a few people. Here is a group picture of us from today. I am in the black t-shirt with the white shorts and Frank is behind me in the green shirt and blue jean short with black cap.

On the drive home I told Frank Mom gets the shower first today. After that I ran over to the market to get a few things, like dinner. Came home and my son puts on an old Cheech & Chong movie, "Up In Smoke". Still pretty stupid but the men have been laughing a lot. Took Phred out for a short walk and had to wear a sweatshirt. Dinner will be ready close to 6pm tonight and going to watch the final "Lost" tonight. Will have to switch over to 4 at times to check up on "The Apprentice". Don't have a DVR, cable or satellite in order to watch other things.

Got up this morning to clouds again but they clear up by early afternoon and it turned out to be a pretty nice day. I hope the weather is good for kayaking tomorrow at the harbor. Took Phred for a walk along an area I had never taken him b4, he gets a bit nervous when he doesn't know where we are heading too.
The walk was a bit slower than when I have done it on my own, but he had to smell every frigging bush, walkway and just everything.

Came home and started working on my topiary's again. Use my new 17 inch 5 pound electric saw thingy. 5 pounds, which doesn't seem like much until you have been using it for 2 hours. After about 45 mins. my right hand was in pain (fibromyalgia got the better of me today with numb/tingling feeling), but I kept going. Hope the arm/hand doesn't bother me tomorrow for kayaking. I use this larger electric saw for the larger shaping and will use the smaller one on Monday for the small shaping. This time I will take pictures to show some of you who asked about them (Xena47).

Made dinner and took Phred for another walk. Jeff had some friends over this afternoon and they worked on their corvette's and Jeff worked on mine too. He also put a weather vane on the house. Our friends were moving and gave it to him, it is pretty cool with a harness racing trotter horse w/man.

My Abigail slows me down when i walk too! She has to stop to pee every 5 steps when at home she goes hours before going outside. Learing to kayak is on my list of things I want to do one day. No place close to me that gives instructions but I hope to find someplace not too far away one of these days. It looks like so much fun and I do love water., Hope you have a great day today. What's with out weather???

Woke up this morning and it was cool yet again. Even some light rain. Where is our S.CA sunshine at, the weatherman says Sunday they are looking at a 20% chance of rain and windy. That is the day Frank and I are kayaking yet again.
You never know once you get to the beach how the weather will actually be like. The first weekend I went Anaheim was covered in clouds but Huntington was sunny.
Talked to Gordies sister Eleanor a little while ago to see when they are going to have services. She said Evan would let everyone know by email, most likely out in Riverside at the VA Cemetery. She seems to be doing pretty good. Right now she is having her house redone, tile, carpet. She says she is lucky because she has something to occupy her mine so she isn't crying all the time. I am glad she is doing so well and she has her children and grandchildren to keep her company. She has always been a strong kind woman.
