Clothes shopping at Target & passing the Spark

Monday, May 17, 2010

I still need some more shorts and bermuda's in size 10's for summer, along with some smaller tops in mediums. So went over to Target this morning. After picking out about 7 items went over to try them on. I was talking to the lady who checks you in and telling her how nothing fits anymore. She asked how I did it and I told her about Sparks People.com. She wrote the name down so she wouldn't forget and she was also going to tell her sister about it. I told her for the first 2 weeks you really don't change much of what your eating, just so you can see how much you need to change. She sounded excited. Only thing is I forgot to give her my site name so I could get credit if she and her sister joined. Oh well I will just be happy if she does and gets healthy.

Got home in time to see the last 30 mins. or so of NASCAR while eating lunch.
Started to watch a Robin Willams movie called "Bicentennial Man" and my sister called from MY. So still haven't seen all of it. Did "30 Day Shred"and "Fast 4 Miles".
Made dinner, walked Phred.

Cleaning day/Our neighbor Jim

Saturday, May 15, 2010

I got up this morning and was going to go to the gym but decided I would clean house and do one of my new Leslie Sansone indoor walking dvds (5 Miles Advanced//1st miles w/3# hand weights/2nd mile fast/3rd mile using the walk belt/4th miles fast/5th miles with resistance band, in 65 mins plus a 5 min. cooldown. Very good workout.

Phred was upset he didn't get his morning walk. Hard for him to understand that he can't walk more than a mile for 7 days. His medication makes him feel so good that I am sure he has forgotten all about his pain. Hell he even trys to bite me and growls at me when I give it to him. I tell him he will get his favorite treat afterwards and he understands that. Maybe he will start to associate being good taking the meds with getting the treat, you just never know with him.

Pretty boring day today, same old same old.

Regarding Jim, he and my husband are good buddies. He ask my husband is I was ill again because he knows I have Lupus. "Why? No" my husband replied to him. I guess Jim thought I must be sick because I was getting so thin. LOL Jeff said "I told you she has been doing all this exercising and following this online program". Jim said "Well, hell I guess it's working'. Sort of made me feel happy that somebody noticed the difference but not that he thought I was sick with my Lupus again.

I know my friend/neighbor Rosa keeps telling me how good I look. The other day at the gym, Rosa's husband Francisco and I go to 24Hrs. He say's your getting so thin, you're going to melt away. I guess all the hard work is really starting to show when others take notice. I am smiling all the way to the bank or in this case to my Sparks friends. Woo Hoo

Hair cut and other novelties lol

Friday, May 14, 2010

Went with my friend Irene over to where her sister starting working a few months back in Yorba Linda to get a hair cut. She charged me $20 and I gave her a $5 tip. I really like the cut, it is bouncy and cute. B/4 she did Irene's hair we all went over to Polly's for lunch. Irene and I split a salad with the dressing on the side but I ate my cornbread because Pollys is very, very good. While Sandy cut Irene's hair I walked around for about 20 mins to get some exercise today.

After we left we went over to TJ Max's so I could buy a new belt. The one I have now is on the last hole and no way to add another hole anymore (woo hoo for me). I also purchased a new handbag for summer. I love my current bag but it is leather and a dark brown, not a summer bag. The one I got is sort of hippy looking but very cute.

Came home and Phred was so happy to see me. My son went with us for his mile walk. Phred was a bit slower and lay down to rest as soon as we got home. But still barking at every sound from the street. LOL

Got a call from my husband while we were out walking saying he would be home around 5:30pm. After we were home about 15 mins. I get another call from him. Seems while he was dismantling a temporary wall at the show he is currently working at (Anaheim Convention Center: Some type of dental convention). He accidentally knock down this wall on some womans head. Not good at all. The information officer asked him what happen and my husband answered, "I got a company phone yesterday". The guy cracked up. He has been with this employer for almost 4 years and just got this phone the other day. So now he has to go get a drug test on the way home and no telling how long that is going to take. I know from when I have had to take them myself or when I had to take my son when he first started working as a security guard it can be a while.

The bad thing about this happening is if he hurt someone who is sue happy. Which in CA seems to be everyone. Everyone wants a way to make a fast buck.
I guess the woman had a little bump on her head and I am sure it hurt. The company will be held responsible for any injury because they have to carry insurance (Union rules) but it still sucks. This could get my husband fired!
Of course, I know his drug test will be fine and some of the guys he works says this type of thing has happened b/4. It just has never happen to my husband so I am hoping that is a plus for him.

Also was very tired today. Why? Because my husband's alarm went off and he didn't hear it and it woke me up. I got up and thought I had turned it off but no I had only hit the snooze button. Then I forgot to give him his credit card back after the trip to the vet. yesterday and he wakes me again to get it back. I have been half asleep all day so didn't have much energy for exercise today. Oh well I am sure I won't make my calorie burn but I will go to the gym tomorrow and try to make up for today. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Xena, Hopefully, the lady is not "sue happy" and will not sue the company. sorry that incident happened, it can ruin someone's day in a hurry! Watch the buttons you are hitting on the alarm! Have a good workout tomorrow!

Poor Phred He Hurt Himself Somehow Last Night

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Last night, while Phred was playing with my son Frank, he hurt himself. Phred is like a :"rat on crack" and has more energy than a Mexican Jumping bean. He jumped down onto our hardwood floor and "Yelped". We couldn't find anything wrong with him but he would not jump up to be caught in my arms. This is his favorite game, to jump up and have one of us catch him. He wouldn't even jump onto my lap on the couch. He was so mellow and not his normal happy crazy ass doggy self that we have learned to love.
Anyway after I got back from the gym this morning I called the vet. Frank and I took him at 3pm and the vet did an exam and took his temp. He seemed to have a small temp., but the vet thinks that may be because he appeared to have hurt his back or spine. He gave him 2 shots, one a type of steroid and another muscle relaxer. He also gave me pills for him to take 2 times a day. He is not to jump at all, if we can help it. Can't chase any birds or cats that may come into the yard. Tomorrow I can take him for a walk but no longer than a mile. We had worked up to almost 3 miles in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.
He has to rest for the next 2 weeks. If he doesn't get better, of course we will take him back to the vet I tell you after the shots kicked in, Phred was already feeling better, but I know it was the medication not that the inflammation or injury was any better. He may not be the same dog after this because jumping may cause him to hurt himself again. I hope at least he starts to be a bit more normal for him. I just don't know how we will manage with Phred not being "Phred the Wonder Dog" anymore. Yeah, he is crazier than a fruitcake but when he isn't feeling well, he has the saddest eyes you have ever seen.
He is just hanging around the house not doing too much today. I don't even think he is upset that he gets no walk today.
I will have to walk by myself tonight a least for a few miles. emoticon emoticon

Oh wow...I hope Mr. Phred is going to be all right. I hope it turns out not to be serious. He's hyper, all right, but he's really a sweetie. Let us know how he fares, please!

Wednesday hump day

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Actually it was market day. I keep forgetting to wear my pedometer when I go to the market just to see how far I walk when I am getting groceries. Just a space cadet, I guess. Came home and took Phred for a walk, ate lunch. Watched some soaps, exercised to a new dvd, showered, took Phred for his afternoon walk. Made dinner: marinated round steak, grilled with corn cob, cinnamon apple sauce, Thomas Bagel thins. Need to get up early tomorrow, want to hit the gym. Getting my hair cut on Friday morning.
