Nothing too exciting today

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Pretty normal day today/ Getting ready for the Corvette club party here tomorrow. So went to the market, walked the dog 2 times and cleaned the house. Tim is here visiting from MO. and he was around all day and I cooked dinner. He travels allot so I know he appreciated a home cooked meal. Pork Loin, corn on the cob, steam carrots and bake potatoes. He had to drive back to his motel in some little town out in the desert but will be back tomorrow for the party. Going to get early and go to the gym.

Whats wrong with people

Friday, April 09, 2010

I had a pretty good day up until I took Phred out for his evening walk. Our morning walk was great but it was pretty warm. I then came home and had a snack (Kiwi) and headed out to the gym. Felt good to be back on the machines.
Came home had lunch watch "GH" and did my JM "30 Day Shred". Husband came home and had a late lunch so I didn't cook, just had an HC meal.
Now I take my dog out for his evening walk, we are walking about 1 1/2 blocks from the house and I can see 2 people walking with 3 dogs. As I get closer I can tell whoever is walking the 2 dogs in front really has no control of the dogs. It turns out to be a young girl about 8 or so. When they are about 20 yards away I take my dog way over to the side of a grassy area next to a church. I say to the young lady I hope you have control of those dogs. At that moment the little girl loses both leashes and the 2 large dogs come at me and my dog. I pick up Phred because he starts to get aggressive. Meanwhile both of these dogs have jumped up on me and I am looking them in the face. They seem kind and are not aggressive but my dog start to get pretty upset.
The young woman (mother) starts yelling at the little girl, " Why can't you hang on", "I told you, you couldn't handle the dogs", and on & on. She finally comes up with the 3rd dog, a grey hound, who also jumps up. I am now surrounded by 3 dogs I do not know. I don't yell or get mad, I don't get any bad vibes from the dogs that they will bite. She gets all the dogs and walks away with them and says to the little girl " You pissed off that bitch!". I turn and say "I wasn't mad" and almost made a comment about calling me a bitch, but just turned away. I was thinking too bad she had to use that language in front of her little girl and I felt sorry for her child.
Later when I came home and told my husband he thought I should have made a smart remark about her use of the "B" word but I figured it would have just pissed her off more because she was real angry at her daughter.
What do any of you think? I felt turning the other check was the correct thing to do here at that moment. Besides she had 3 big dogs and I only had a 20 pound psycho dog. lol emoticon

That irresponsible and agressive behavior seems to be more common every where. Be kind...or respond in kind. Be kind is better. But I think I would have made some response to her remark...in a more or less kind way! By the way, you had every right to feel angry, but between the woman and the dogs and all the energy, it was probably best just to move on. Glad to hear you weren't hurt, or Phred, either.

"What's wrong with people?" A complete lack of respect...for anything or anyone--including themselves.

I probably would have done the same thing, given the situation. You were in a position of disadvantage. That must have been so scary having those big dogs coming at you while Phred was freaking out. Both your own person and your dog to worry about, as well as concern that the big dogs might take offense at your little dog and attack one or both of you. Oh, man, I would have been terrified.

But the situation with the mom and daughter added insult to injury. I see so many irresponsible and inconsiderate adults and just want to smack them upside the head sometimes. The only positive is my kids are shocked too. We've had some discussions and agreed such folks make great examples of how NOT to act when they grow up.

What a crazy situation! How can people be so rude? Hopefully that poor girl doesn't grow up to be like her mother.

I want to say that I would have said, "Nice language!" but I probably would have done the same thing. :)

That is insane! I was at a department store (Ross) and two teenage girls were saying "F this, F you" loudly, and a mother turned around and fussed them both out for saying such language where young kids could hear! But then they walked around cussing about the mother. -sigh- Some people!

Working on my topiarys

Thursday, April 08, 2010

I have the job of upkeeping the topiarys at our home. There are five of them and they are pretty large. It takes a few days to finish them all. I still have the easiest one to do but it only takes about 15 mins. It is three parts, a sea serphent. We also have a teapot, dog bending down in a playful position, a horse in a pose and a T-Rex, that we put an old plastic army car in his mouth. When I get them done just the way I want them this time I am gonna take pictures of them to show everyone.
Took Phred for 2 walks today, went to the market, did my JM "Shred" dvd and continued my work on the topiary's. For dinner it was left overs. emoticon

Oh man, I have always wanted to do something like that!!!! When I saw the title of this blog, I expected the sort of topiary's they have in my neighborhood...simply shaped bushes, not the cool stuff you're describing.

There is never time to do all the things you want to in life, but I am delighted see I have a namesake somewhere in the world pursuing one of the arts that got away. Drop me a line when you get the pictures up, I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Morning walk in the wind

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

When I took Phred out for his walk this morning the Santa Ana winds were really blowing hard. We did a good 40 mins walk. Came home and read a little of the paper while I had a snack (Plum) then started on the house cleaning for a good 155 mins. Then took a break for lunch and to walk "General Hospital", been a fan since the '60s when I watched with my older sister. Then went outside and lo and behold the wind had die down to nothing. So did another topiary and was really sweating by the time I finished. Came in the house to do my "Shred" dvd and then started dinner. Took the dog for a 20 min afternoon walk while dinner cooked. Sounds sort of boring Oh well that life. emoticon

Sounds like a fun day! You're so active. All I do is sit at a desk!

I don't think it sounds boring. I wish I packed that much into my day, activity-wise. I kind of wandered about the house and did a little laundry today. Tomorrow I want to go out to walk in the park near where I live. I may go out and do it alone since my significant other is such a wimp when it comes to rain. A storm is supposed to come in tomorrow, so I don't know, it depends how bad it is how long it will be.

It sounds like you really got a lot of exercise into your day and I think you should be proud!

Picked up the taxes

Tuesday, April 06, 2010

So glad we are getting a good amount of money back this year. I should get my new carpet, at least that is what the husband has promised. Walk Phred 2x's, did my shred dvd and starting cutting my topiary's again. It takes a few days to get them all done. It was pretty warm today and I had on my big gardening hat. I look like someone out in a rice paddy. Made chicken & rice with salad for dinner. Still keeping within my calorie range at least 98% of the time.

Glad yours are done. I'm still working on mine. I've always done my own, and still do even though I run a business. Last year, after doing them, I decided to take them to H&R for a free second look. After waiting FIVE days, and TEN phone calls from this guy, ended up I couldn't get a free second look even though he already had. Had to beg for the print out since I'd wasted five days, and ended up having to do them myself.

Have actually thought about doing taxes part-time this time of the year, and may do that next year. Maybe I'll learn something. Checked this year against last year, and think something got messed up when I imported my financial information in. HATE doing these, but it would be just as much trouble to have someone else do them. Think, once I get them to where I think they're right, I'll pay TurboTax a small fee for someone to look them over. I do pay for their special AUDIT assistance...just in case though.
