Working on my topiarys

Thursday, April 08, 2010

I have the job of upkeeping the topiarys at our home. There are five of them and they are pretty large. It takes a few days to finish them all. I still have the easiest one to do but it only takes about 15 mins. It is three parts, a sea serphent. We also have a teapot, dog bending down in a playful position, a horse in a pose and a T-Rex, that we put an old plastic army car in his mouth. When I get them done just the way I want them this time I am gonna take pictures of them to show everyone.
Took Phred for 2 walks today, went to the market, did my JM "Shred" dvd and continued my work on the topiary's. For dinner it was left overs. emoticon

Oh man, I have always wanted to do something like that!!!! When I saw the title of this blog, I expected the sort of topiary's they have in my neighborhood...simply shaped bushes, not the cool stuff you're describing.

There is never time to do all the things you want to in life, but I am delighted see I have a namesake somewhere in the world pursuing one of the arts that got away. Drop me a line when you get the pictures up, I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Morning walk in the wind

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

When I took Phred out for his walk this morning the Santa Ana winds were really blowing hard. We did a good 40 mins walk. Came home and read a little of the paper while I had a snack (Plum) then started on the house cleaning for a good 155 mins. Then took a break for lunch and to walk "General Hospital", been a fan since the '60s when I watched with my older sister. Then went outside and lo and behold the wind had die down to nothing. So did another topiary and was really sweating by the time I finished. Came in the house to do my "Shred" dvd and then started dinner. Took the dog for a 20 min afternoon walk while dinner cooked. Sounds sort of boring Oh well that life. emoticon

Sounds like a fun day! You're so active. All I do is sit at a desk!

I don't think it sounds boring. I wish I packed that much into my day, activity-wise. I kind of wandered about the house and did a little laundry today. Tomorrow I want to go out to walk in the park near where I live. I may go out and do it alone since my significant other is such a wimp when it comes to rain. A storm is supposed to come in tomorrow, so I don't know, it depends how bad it is how long it will be.

It sounds like you really got a lot of exercise into your day and I think you should be proud!

Picked up the taxes

Tuesday, April 06, 2010

So glad we are getting a good amount of money back this year. I should get my new carpet, at least that is what the husband has promised. Walk Phred 2x's, did my shred dvd and starting cutting my topiary's again. It takes a few days to get them all done. It was pretty warm today and I had on my big gardening hat. I look like someone out in a rice paddy. Made chicken & rice with salad for dinner. Still keeping within my calorie range at least 98% of the time.

Glad yours are done. I'm still working on mine. I've always done my own, and still do even though I run a business. Last year, after doing them, I decided to take them to H&R for a free second look. After waiting FIVE days, and TEN phone calls from this guy, ended up I couldn't get a free second look even though he already had. Had to beg for the print out since I'd wasted five days, and ended up having to do them myself.

Have actually thought about doing taxes part-time this time of the year, and may do that next year. Maybe I'll learn something. Checked this year against last year, and think something got messed up when I imported my financial information in. HATE doing these, but it would be just as much trouble to have someone else do them. Think, once I get them to where I think they're right, I'll pay TurboTax a small fee for someone to look them over. I do pay for their special AUDIT assistance...just in case though.

Rain Morning, Windy afternoon

Monday, April 05, 2010

Woke up this morning to some pretty heavy rain. We really needed it here and then it was very windy all day, very cool for April. Talked to my sister Doreen this morning for almost 90 mins, she lives in SD county and they had some damage in their home, things that fell off of shelfs and such. They were in Oceanside when the quake hit. I seem to be the only person who did not feel it at all. In fact I thought the men in the house were pulling my chain when they started to mention it.
After I talked to Dore I did my JM dvd and then dyed my hair, the grey was really starting to show. I feel no woman or man should have to be grey if they want or can color their hair. It always makes me feel younger and pretty after I do it. Anything that makes you feel happy can not be bad for you? Right?
Showered, ran errands came home for some late lunch. Took Phred out for a good 37 min walk and that was another day gone. Just sitting here Sparking!
Here is Phred the wonder dog!

Easter Sunday

Sunday, April 04, 2010

Got up and cleaned up the kitchen table. Wasn't dirty but every week it gets piled with papers and other stuff that the household just puts there. After that I ate breakfast and then cleaned strawberries. Took the dog for his morning walk and then came back to start supper. Used my new roaster oven (husband calls it a giant crock pot because it can hold 18 qts) but it does so much more. The ham came out to tender. I also prepared steam fresh carrots and frozen mini corn cobs. Mrs. C's stuffing using homemade chicken stock with French bread too. There is vanilla ice cream to have with the strawberries (the boys) I am allergic to strawberries so I will just have my ice cream plain. Will take the dog out again later.
Had a surprise call from an old friend Michael today. Michael is related to the person who was my best friend from the time I was 15 until a couple of years ago. Long story but she got into drugs and we parted ways after over 30 yrs. Michael was forbidden from speaking to me, so hadn't heard from him in over 3 yrs. He is her mother's youngest brother and we are only a couple of months apart in age and dated when I was around 23 and then again when I was 26.
He says he no longer speaks to his niece either and was glad to talk to me again.

He also told me that his sister, Joan (was my friends mother and like a mother to me) had died a little over a year ago. I was sad to hear that but not surprised since she had been suffering lung problems for a number of years.
Other than that nothing much to report today!
