My movie pick day

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Since NASCAR is on tomorrow and that is my birthday I wanted to watch "Gone With The Wind" today. I have had the movie on VHS for year but my daugher Samra got me a DVD for Christmas. Jeff and Frank both watched it with me which sort of suprised me. Frank said he even remembered watching it once when he was around 7 yrs old (he is 23 now). I still cry when the horse dies.
Brings back memories of seeing it the first time at the theater when I was around 12/13 yrs old. While I was in the theater with my friends family one of their horses almost died because it got tangled up in something.
Tomorrow is my 54th birthday, another year, another dollar as the saying goes.
There were several yards sales around the neighbor today and one family sales only new items. I got 6 really nice summer tank type shirts for $20, one has Marilyn Monroe (I have a ton of Marilyn collector stuff). They are sized small but that is OK, I will be able to wear them to the gym and feel comfortable by summer wearing them.

Pretty busy day

Friday, March 19, 2010

Got up made waffles to put in the freezer to the guys can just microwave them on the mornings they want them. I do this about every 10 days. I had one, they are very good. Walked Phred, came home and went through the market adds and my coupons to see what I could get. Did pretty well I normally do, had about $80 taken off of the bill. Picked up 2 100% natural whole chicken and roast one tonight. Was great, with mini corn cobs, apple sauce and low cal crescent roll. Yummy.
Cleaned around the house, 3 loads laundry, vacuumed, changed towels and sheets on beds. Walked around the market for over an hour.

Yum great waffle idea, I do make-your-own convenience food, too, just not waffles.

You did great on the coups; I consider myself coupon queen but you might be in the running for the crown . . .

You are definitely beating me at housework and exercise.

Sounds busy. I keep meaning to make waffles and putting it off. There's a spark recipe I took down that looks good, but I'm a lazy chief and keep buying the frozen ones instead.

Kudo's to you for doing better. Maybe reading this will inspire me to get off my lazy butt.

PPH volunteer night

Friday, March 19, 2010

Had a great turn out tonight with close to 15 people. We got a lot of packages done for the junior high students. Did a gift basket with one of the other volunteer a young lady named Joanne, very sweet person. Did my 2 walks with Phred today, my ankle was little sore from the long walk yesterday. Did an hour of house work. Talked this morning to both of sisters. One is on this site, but hasn't done anything because she has been busy going to college online and found out it wasn't for her after she signed up and took out student loans.
She spends bwt 6-8 hrs a day just doing classes. Way too much time on the PC if you ask me.

Great walk today but hot

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Took a nice 9 + mile walk with Irene this morning along the Santa Ana river walkway. Was a nice cool breeze when we started but by the end of walk back at the car it was 93 degrees. Couldn't wait to get home to the AC. Waiting until 4:30pm b/4 walking the Phredster but by that time the afternoon had picked up so walk pretty nice.
Jeff decided he was gonna take me to Chilli Peppers tonight. I knew I should have stuck to the chicken taco's but I had to have the special., crab flaunta, coconut shrimp, black bean refried beans, spanish rice, sm.beef totasta (appetizer) and sm.apple/cinamon totasta (desert). Wow I tried to estimate the calories and it was close to 1600 I only had water and no drinks but still. Well once in a while you have to break out of your shell. It was the Jalapeno Soup that did me in, I shared some with my son. He was so suprised at how good it was. Yummy! But the calories will kill ya! lol emoticon emoticon

Yum except for the shrimp & crab! I love flautas and all the other fattening TexMex food.

It's good that you're not beating yourself up too hard for slipping. Once in awhile is ok so long as it doesn't become a habit. Now and then I'm in a situation where I'll just resign myself to damage control and try not to worry about it. It happens.

It's getting hot out here too, thought our comparative temperatures make me sound like a whiner. (Yours are running about twenty degrees higher than ours.) Still, no doubt, spring is in the air. I need to start getting out earlier in the morning.

Nine miles? Wow, that's great! You ARE a warrior woman!

Lucies ashes

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Jeff and I picked up Lucies ashes this afternoon. The box is much nicer than I thought it would be and now we are not sure we want to bury it. It put it on top of the fireplace mantle, it is a very hard white plastic with a gold plack that says "My BeLoved Pet" in nice scrip along with a certificate of guarantee that my piet has been cremated privately by the Only Cremations company. There was a very nice poem on the back of the certificate and I only got about half way through it and I started to cry. I had my husband finish reading it for me. I can not believe it has only been one week. Anyway here is the poem:

I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of
quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Please stand not at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.

We send our condolences for the loss of your beloved companion.

I still get teary everytime I read this because Lucy truely was my beloved companion.
