Focus on goals

Saturday, August 25, 2007

Since I had such a hard summer losing weight I made my goals smaller. I set a goal of 7 lbs for the summer. This Friday I finally achieved that goal. It feels really good, especially since my reward is to cut my hair. I think you need to set goals that are obtainable and give yourself a reward for meeting them.

My next goal will be 7 lbs. I don't care how long it takes as long as the scale just keeps inching down. I am eating healthy and that feels good. Also started a new exercise routine. 3 days of "the firm, fat burning" video and 2 days WATP. Saturday what ever I can fit in and Sunday a rest day.

What should my reward be? I haven't decided yet. Maybe a new outfit. Something for winter since it is fast approaching.

Thanks for reading. How are you doing on your goals and do you reward yourself?

Congrats on your 7 lb loss! That's wonderful! Do I reward myself-only in having the satisfaction of watching my clothes slide down my hips!! Seriously,tho-no,I don't reward myself. That's like rewarding Amber for behaving herself in stores. She does it becuz she knows it could be bad. And I know I need to lose weight or it could be bad. So,how are you going to cut your hair??

Now this is the topic. How much sleep do I get a night? Well if varies from 5 hours a night to close to 8. I don't need the amount I used to need. Because of spark, myspace, live spaces, etc I have a lot to look at and like to at night when everyone is in bed. No interuptions. If you need more sleep and are not getting it then that can be bad for your health and could be dangerous if you drive in your job.

I have not noticed the amount of sleep I get or don't get making a difference on my eating habits. If for some reason my sleep is cut short because of children or something then that is different. But it is very common for me to go to bed at midnight and get up at 6 with no problem. I have even started getting up at 5:30 a couple mornings a week to do some strength training. Other wise I just don't get it done.

So I will continue on with my sleep pattern and watch it closely to make sure I am not sabotaging my self.

Succumb to Laziness?

Tuesday, August 07, 2007

Have I succumb to laziness regarding my workouts. I am much less diligent than I was. I still exercise everyday but have dropped the intenseness (is that a word) I had at one time. Partly do to the kids being home from school. It is so much easier to exercise when you aren't interupted a dozen times.

Procrastination: I don't put off, I do change what I do.
Effort: My effort is in deed less. Will that increase when it is cooler and the kids are in school? I hope so.
Habit: Exercise has become a habit. I must do something everyday. But lately I have been stepping during commercials to get some movement in.
Applying myself: I need to put more effort into this. Especially strength training. I have all but given it up.

The answer to this dilema? Time, I think with time everything will fall back into place. I am not gaining so I should not worry to much at this point.

Plan of attack!!! Keep doing something everyday. Try to find a couple days a week and do some strength training. Even if it is only a couple of exercises. Just start moving and more will come easily.

intenseness is probably a word, though I would have used intensity

i have found, for myself, that laziness comes with waves of other events. Laziness, for me, isn't a stand-alone event, but is accompanied by other decisions. Thus, I look for those signifiers so I am less likely to be lazy.

Thanks for the comment/suggestion.

Setting goals

Friday, July 27, 2007

Since I am having such a hard time this summer my view of setting goals has changed. I still have my long term goal, that is my ending weight. But my short term and medium term goals have changed.

I am finding it much easier to set smaller more attainable short term goals such as: this month my goal is to exercise (do something) everyday. So far I have succeeded in that and that feels good.

My medium term goal is an amount of weight to lose. In May I had joined a challenge to lose 9 lbs. Well I was way off. So I set June to lose the rest of that weight that I didn't lose in May, which was 7lb's. So in July I finally got real and set my goal to just finish losing that weight and not set an amount of time. If it takes me this month or 3 more months it doesn't matter as long as I am losing and sticking to my plan. I have 2.5 lb's left of that to lose. I will lose it. It just is taking a lot longer that I thought it would. But I am OK with that now. I have adjusted my goals accordingly and moving forward. I will reward myself at the end of this goal and then start a new one.

2nd week in July

Monday, July 09, 2007

As I have stated in other blogs this summer has been really hard to stay on track 100%. I'm doing much better than I would if I had never found Spark but still I am not losing. So my goal for this week is to lose 1 lb. Exercise doing my Dance video 3 days and pilates 3 days. Also I need to switch up the food a bit. I seem to eat the same things so I need to change my selection some. I think doing some different exercises and switching my food will help get those numbers going down again. Wish me luck.

Sometimes a good shake up is all you need. And if you've lost a lot of weight but haven't changed your spark goals it may be time to, it may change your calorie range and exercise stuff. Good luck!!
