Reflecting on the good things.

Tuesday, July 03, 2007

This reflection came at such a good time. I was feeling sorry for myself. The weight is coming off slower now and our trailer busted this weekend. It will probably take all summer to get it fixed. But why think of those things. Think about the weight I have lost and how much better I feel. I have so much more energy and have gone down 2 sizes. These are truly gifts that I need to reflect on and appreciate.

I have the best husband and children. I am so thankful for all the blessings I have been given. Need to spend time doing simple things, like enjoying a good book, reading to my kids. Just sitting outside with my DH at the end of a long day. Look at a beautiful sunset which Wyoming has a lot of.

Thank you Spark for the gift of this free site. Without it I would not have lost 29 lbs. I have met so many nice people and it is a major part of my day.

So lets look at the the half full glass and not the half empty one. Life is good, no life is great.

Excellent blog post!! It is so easy to get down in the dumps about all that goes wrong in our lives. We have to remember the good things and be thankful for them. I'm so glad you're bessed with a loving family and being able to see and take pictures of nature's beauty. :-) Thanks for stopping by my page and leaving the message. Good luck with the rest of your goals!

Weekend

Sunday, June 24, 2007

I blew it again this weekend. If we just could skip it I would do so much better. Was very busy Saturday so didn't have the time to cook and prepar my meals. Sunday had friends over and BBQ'd. I didn't have a bun with my Hamburger but I ate plenty of cookies instead. Monday need to re-group and do double the workout. I feel horible right now, all bloated. Why did I do it. Now it will take all week to redo what I just did. I am drinking a ton of water right now and hoping that will flush some of it away.

Ok enough whining. Will be back on track starting now. I can keep going. I will keep going. I am worth it.

My teams

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

One of the best things about Sparkpeople are the teams and the people you meet. I belong to some great teams, some are encouraging, some are fun, some keep me honest (on track) and some get me movin.

One of my first teams was "Are there any Nascar Fans". I have since become co-leader. Hoping to keep the same fun spirit that it has. Also incorporate some different topics such as picking top 3 for each race. There are some really nice people on this team, wish we lived closer to meet them. We have a lot of fun ribbing each other when our driver does well and there's doesn't. Everyone knows it is just for fun and we don't wish any driver any ill will. OK maybe the Busch brothers but that's all.

Crazy for Quilting, very small group. People seem to not stay long. The leader has had a really rough three months and hasn't been able to be on. We miss her and wish her the best. Though only a few people they would be there when I would need a prayer. We truly care about each other and they are in my prayers everyday and night.

Nascar 2007 spark challenge: This is purely for fun and only on once a week to list my picks. I'm not sure I like how the points are calculated and probably will not stay on it next year. Boy can I tell you I think I dropped from 3rd to almost last in 2 weeks. So pick carefully.

Late In Life Mommies, this is group keeps me motivated. There are great challenges, the team is very active and love to chat. Very friendly group, would recommend this group to anyone that is older and has young children. You get great support and have a lot in common.

Virtual Racing: Keeps me moving. Wish they had more races scheduled. I love doing the 5K and hopefully someday can do a 10K.

Around the world in 80 Days: is almost over and I don't think we are going to make it. There is enough interest to do it again and hopefully make it this time. The team was pretty large and everyone ran, walked, biked, hiked their hearts out. We can do better though.

Classic Book Club: I love the classics and had looked for a team like this a while ago and could not find one. I happened across this one from someone elses page. So glad to find it. I just started an Oscar Wilde "Picture of Dorian Gray". Easy reading but you have to really listen for the meaning. I am looking forward to the discussion, am only on chapter 5. My favorite author is Jane Austen, so I am in hopes of reading something from her soon.

Community Team: Just joined this team about a week ago. I never read other peoples blogs so I am finding this very interesting. It's funny how trying to help someone else is ending up helping me. Finding others with the same problems, such as weekends. Wish I had more time to spend reading others pages and blogs. I now check out the spotlight everyday and see who it is and read about them. IT has opened a new part of Spark I did not know before.

Thank you SParkpeople for all you give.

vacation

Saturday, June 09, 2007

Just got back from vacation. Had a great time, wish we had a few more days. I was not as bad eating wise as I would have been before Spark, but I could have been better. Did lots of walking but not much other exercise.

So now it is getting back on track. I didn't drink much water while gone and boy am I dehydrated. My fingers are puffy and I feel bloated. So I am really concentrating on water. This is good to remember next time to drink lots of water. Hopefully in the next few days this bloated feeling will go away. It's funny how the more water you drink the less bloated you are. Water gets rid of water. Funny concept, but it works.

This morning I fixed breakfast for everyone and was very careful to watch my portions. I have noticed when I eat out I only eat till I am full and that is usually the correct amount. I divide my plate when I first get it and I am very satisfied with that amount of food. We so tend to over eat. Spark has really brought it to my attention how much I was putting in my mouth before I started tracking. Now when eatting out like we did on vacation I am still aware not to over eat. I may eat some things I shouldn't but I don't gorge myself.

Excercise I think will be the toughest thing to get started again. I had started the C25K and now will have to restart the program. Starting is the main thing and going from there. It's funny how short a time a habit can be not a habit anymore.

Well wish me luck so I can get back in the groove and get past that halfway point on my loss. Good luck to anyone that may read this.

Last day of May

Thursday, May 31, 2007

Well I was 1 lb. short of my goal for May but that is OK. I feel great and that is what counts.

Goals for June:

Plan to continue my crunches with laurie as my buddy. This will help me stay honest. I hate crunches but you need to work the whole body so they are very necessary.

Finished week1 of Couch 2 5K. Will continue on after vacation. Purchased new running shoes (New Balance) and they are itching to go out and run. Will progress at my own pace.

Independence Day challenge to lose 7lbs.

Burn 9000 calories. I was short on my goal for May because I got sick and things got hectic at school for end of year. Will do better in June.

Will continue with the June walk challenge and hope to increase my mileage to at least 60 miles in June.

Last but not least for June goals is stretching. I am terrible at warmup and stretching. So it is my goal to stretch at least 5 times a week.

May goals accomplished:

Lost 25LB's. Reward a manicure-Done
Take vitamin everyday. My Lil moms group had some great suggestions that I took and now taking my vitamin is a habit. Thanks girls.
Do crunches. I hate crunches but with the help of the group I new I had to do them. So completed this task, but will continue on.
70 points a day. Completed this task at least 80% of the time. With exceptions of sickness and related activities that couldn't be helped.

On to June, looking forward to feeling better and running more.
