My 2010 Event List

Wow, January was a challenging month, but I'm seeing results! I took some time to rebound from the holidays, figured out a weekend eating plan that will work better for me (2 meals + 2 snacks), and finally set up the bike trainer and am actually USING it!

So, as the month winds down, it's time to set my event goals. Here's what's on my list... time to go register so I'm committed!

Urban Assault Bike Ride - May 16th
Flying Wheels Century Ride - June 12th
Seattle to Portland - July 17th/18th
Oyster Racing Series - Aug 28th
Seattle 1/2 Marathon - Nov 28th

This way, my biggies are spread out enough to keep me going the full year! Back-to-back last year was my downfall... I'm looking forward to finding a few more fun runs or multisport things for the 2nd half of the year.

Survived Christmas, but...

I had my game plan all figured out and was ready to confront the feast! But, then I dodged it all by getting sick. It's the first year in my life that I can remember where I've been too sick to participate in the family festivities. Bummer!

The good news is that the scale is still in my favor and my sister is bringing over some leftovers. :)

I'm off work now until the 4th of January, so my new challenge will be to create some sort of dietary routine. Tomorrow I will try to map out many of my meals for the week and see how I do.

Half Way There!

I can't believe it ~ the scale is my friend this morning! It's been at least 2+ years since I've seen my weight below 170, so I'm excited. And I feel good too!

Just 2 months ago, I was unmotivated, thought I'd need an expensive personal trainer AND a dietician, and was kinda depressed. Now I'm thrilled that I'm making progress on my very own!

I'm still struggling with getting enough exercise, but once all this holiday stuff gets by, I *will* get better at that. I have a bike trainer (never been used) and a bosu ball all set up and ready to use for days when it's too wet to run. I just need to find time in the day!

I'm looking forward to next week's lesson about eating the "right" kind of foods. It's been fun to get the reports at the end of the day to see where your shortfalls are. It might be a challenge to find ways to get all those carbs in.

Of course, I'm heading into the toughest week yet, with a holiday party today and Xmas next week. But my eyes are wide open. I will make smart choices and yet will allow some sinful delights. A day here and there off the bandwagon... no problem, I know I can bounce back!

Just remember that if you do slip, don't let it stop you from getting back on track immediately, a lot of people don't & that's where their trouble begins. Back in the Saddle

Weekends are hard! This one was particularly difficult with a long anticipated holiday party on Saturday night, then a birthday bash for my sweetie on Sunday. Yes, maybe I over indulged ~ but it was so worth it. Sushi! Fajitas! Cupcakes! Oh my!

Fortunately, I find it easy to jump back into the saddle when the work week resumes, so here we are again. We'll see in a few days how the scales feel about it all :)
