Creating fitness goals

Saturday, September 04, 2010

I have fitness goals. Goals like I want to burn 2500 calories doing cardio, or work out three times a week.

those are good goals, but I feel like I need to create some weight lifting goals. Like I want to bench press 250 by a certain time. I don't know what I think about this. I think goals are good, but I worry I might over do it. That I might set a goal that is not obtainable. however, I will learn this in time.

Ok so my first plan is to set a goal for each body part.

I'll post later.

    I noticed that I bench pressed 200 pounds the other day. That is only 50 lbs under my body weight. I think being able to lift your own body weight is a good measurement of strength.

But I've not been working on it much.

so I thought: why don't I have some goals? why am I not pushing myself more.

so I think i'll focus on the chest first then do another body part later.

    S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Attainable
R = Realistic
T = Timely

One thing SMART goals miss or assume is that you are committed to the goal.

The issues I find that cause me and some others to falter is can I believe that I can achieve them, this is where the measurable can help. The other is the goal what I really want. Example no one wants an IRA what they want is a comfortable retirement that an IRA can help provide. So think what is the true goal you want and work back to the tasks that will likely help achieve it and will measure what you really want to focus on. For example while losing weight will help me achieve my goals, having a waist that is smaller than my chest is a stronger motivator because it will help me feel better about my shape, strengthen my back and I associate it with feeling more energetic.

I am working on my mine now so look for my post soon.

    Good idea. Start with one or two goals and then add more. Good luck. You can do it.

I Eat When I Am Hungry

Saturday, July 31, 2010

I know that we are supposed to wake up and have breakfast. I know and I think this has merit that by eating a breakfast we increase our weight loss. I believe it.

however, I'm doing something new this week. It worked out some, and I'm going to continue it for a few more days.

What I am doing is this: I eat when I am hungry.

If I wake and I'm not hungry, i'm not eating. I'm not eating just because I am supposed to eat in the morning.

I'm doing this as a way to control my eating. To learn to listen my body!

    I think it's a combo, Eating when you're hungry, stopping when you're full.

However like sleeping, the body seems to work better when a routine is established. For me breakfast isn't a strong desire, especially in the summer or when I have an early morning workout but I found if I skipped breakfast the end of the day was out of whack.

So test your theroy but look at the results of the whole day

Raw Food Eating Day ?

Saturday, July 17, 2010

I've not blogged about eating raw cause I've been slightly bad. And that is: not having enough veggies around to eat. Well I'm going shopping in the morning. to correct this.

However, I'm so excited about eating raw because of how good i feel, but also because I helps me be more honest. Now that I am having trouble getting enough calories, I've been counting my drinks, and this is helping me make those calories.

Now I'm looking at my eating and drinking and being more honest. This is great progress.

First keeping up with a log, shows my progress. I get to see how much I've improved and each week, I see that I improved all the time.

Second, by keeping that log I've improved. I am no longer stagnate.

Third. It just makes me feel good to see all that work I did. I love it!
