An Easy Weekend For Me...

Sunday, April 17, 2011

This has been a very easy weekend for me. So why did I NOT get much accomplished...well, because I realized that I was tired. Normally, I work about 12 hours on Saturday. Due to the heavy rain on Friday, my Saturday work, except for two hours was canceled. Normally, I work on Sunday afternoon, but since a workshop was being held at the YMCA (where I work on Sunday), my afternoon work was canceled. So, all of those hours that I normally work, I was NOT working this weekend. Oh wait!!!! Maybe I did get something accomplished...I was able to get about 12 more hours of sleep than normal. So now, I feel rested and ready for the coming week.

The YMCA Cat..

Friday, April 15, 2011

For the past couple of weeks, a beautiful orange tabby cat has taken up residence on the grounds of the YMCA where I work. There are houses nearby, so when I first saw him hanging out at the Y , I guessed that he lived with a family in one of those houses. Yesterday, I found out that whomever he had belonged to had moved and left him.

This morning at the Y, I saw that someone had taken his picture and posted it on our bulletin board. The attached note read that he was 'Looking for a home because he couldn't stay at the Y because he couldn't afford a membership.' Tonight I saw that someone had written on the note...."ADOPTED 4/14." This story has a happy ending. The YMCA cat has a new home with people who love him and who will NOT move and abandon him.

I am glad that someone adopted him because I couldn't bear to know that he was abandoned and homeless. However, I already have six cats, and it would be difficult introducing a new cat to my spoiled bunch. I know I would have adopted him though because all of my cats are rescues.

I don't know how someone can just move and leave the family pet behind. I am just glad that this cat was able to adopt a new family.

Take care all, and best wishes in reaching all of your goals.

Such a great story. Have you read the book Dewey, the Library Cat. You would love it.

All of my cats were rescues (abandoned or lost) - 2 from my neighborhood and 2 from the vet in town that does a lot of rescues. My 2 little dogs are also rescues - one found wandering in the desert, and the boy was surrendered to the vet when he had Parvo. If I had my way, I'd have even more critters - but there has to be a limit, or I'd be a hoarder!

How the heck can people do that? Would you move away and leave your children behind?

Glad this sad story had a happy ending!

My grandma's cats are all abandoned cats. She lives close to Ohio State, and summer is the WORST. The most she had was 11, after one pregnant cat had 7 kittens, which were adopted by family and friends:) I just have one dog, now, but if my finances ever get better, I'm getting another cat!

Great news that someone has adopted the kitty :) I just don't understand how people can move and just leave the cat behind. So sad, but a happy ending!

Have a great weekend!

I don't understand it, either. I'm so glad kitty has a home! We had a dog we adopted because her previous people (I use that term loosely) moved away and left her. She was the sweetest, most loyal dog I've ever met, and she lived a long life with us.

The Taxman...

Sunday, April 10, 2011

I had my income tax done today. The results were exactly what I expected to hear, but I was hoping that by some miracle, something had changed since last year, and I would not hear exactly what I had expected to hear. NO SUCH LUCK!!! I heard what I expected to hear, but Hey! I am not going to let it ruin my day, my week, my month, or my year. I hope your results were or will be more cheerful than mine.

I'm in the same boat with you, Pam. I try to have a good attitude, that we are all responsible for keeping this country running. I would feel better if I had a say so about where my money is spent; those I've voted for don't listen to their constituents. Oh, well, I guess I better send off some money soon. Penalties & interest don't make it better.

Taxes seem to be a 50/50 situation. 50% have to pay & 50% get money back. At least it's not 85 & 15. emoticon

Mine were done mid-March, and I neither get anything back nor have to pay anything, EXCEPT for a quarterly. Of course...since I'm paying...I'm waiting! TeeHee!

We can both look forward to NEXT YEAR????

I had a car once with a sticker in the back window.
It said ....
"BORN FREE - TAXED TO DEATH"

I think never a truer word was said - LOL!

We did our taxes in March and have our refunds already. Nothing much, but at least we didn't have to pay.

It is going to be a great weekend here with temperatures in the mid-eighties. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I will be working outside most of today and tonight, and I am so thankful for this beautiful sunshine filled day. It is beginning to REALLY feel like spring. Take care, ALL!
