Let the CELEBRATING Begin....

Monday, November 22, 2010

Our family had our FIRST Thanksgiving get together this evening. It was hosted by my 89 year old aunt. Aunt Juanita began having the family over every Thanksgiving about 10 years ago. Back then she said, "I wanted to get everyone together because this may be the last time that I see all of you." Now ten years later, she says, "Well...Again I wanted to get everyone together, but it looks like I am going to be around for awhile longer...LOL."

And THAT, I don't doubt. You see, Aunt Juanita has ALWAYS followed the 'healthy lifestyle' path. She eats healthy, drinks water, and exercises. She stays busy by being active in her church and community events; doing crafts; gardening; playing cards, and teaching line dance classes (about 6 hours a week). In addition she attends ballroom dances several hours each week.

Aunt Juanita is 89 years old, and she takes no medication for any type of health problems. HMMMM...This leads one to believe that there really IS something to this "Healthy Lifestyle" thing!

Oh, before leaving Aunt Juanita's tonight, we all made plans to meet at HER house again next year for Thanksgiving..LOL.

Take care ALL, and BEST WISHES in reaching your health and fitness goals.

HUGS
Pam

This Weekend

Saturday, November 20, 2010

Wishing all of you a healthy, happy, and blessed weekend. Although it has been quite cool in my area this week, it is supposed to be much warmer this weekend. I hope it is because the Y (where I work) is having a Family Fun get together on Saturday night. All of the events will be held outside. This event will be a lot more fun, if the weather is cooperating. We will have to wait and see. Our weather is very unpredictable.

    Hi Pam,

Thanks for the well wishes. I feel "beat up", tired, but happy. I feel I am making progress even though it's slow going. But that's okay...as long as it's progress!

I hope you have wonderful weather for your "Y" activities. Our weather is also very unpredictable. The weather forecasters have a terrible time because of the mountain ranges, the weather can "stop short" and not make it, or cross over, and "dump whatever". Our weather forecasts in our area are somewhat of a "joke"...you look outside!!!

Thanks for all your support...and have a HAPPY SPARKING DAY!

Thanksgiving Day

Friday, November 19, 2010

I hope everyone has something planned with their family members or friends for Thanksgiving. A lot of the people whom I know are going out of town to visit their parents or their children. Others are having family members visit with them to celebrate. My family members are all located nearby, so no one has to travel more than a few miles to visit each other.

Although it is nice to be surrouned by loved ones during the holidays, sometimes one might find that is not possible. If you find yourself in that situation, try to not let it bring you down. There are other ways to celebrate and enjoy the holiday season. Check your local newspaper, church bulletin, or with organizations such as senior citizen homes, hospitals, or homeless shelters to see if there is something that you can do to volunteer your services. This will be a very rewarding way to share the joy and happiness of the holiday season.

BEST WISHES to ALL.

Pam, you are such a beautiful person. I plan to spend a few hours, on Thanksgiving, at the hospital where I volunteer.

I have always told people who have no where to go on holidays, that there are plenty more like them, so take the following year to meet some and plan holiday events with them. Like you said, there are many organizations to meet like-minded people.

Blessings,
Lynn

Pam, you continue to impress me in your love and caring for others. I really wish I lived close enough to be in your exercise classes because I am sure I would love them.
Hope your Thanksgiving is filled with loving kindness, joy, compassion and equanimity. Bless you.

Have a great Thanksgiving Pam. I work on "Free Community Dnners" throughout the year, but there is nothing in our town on Thanksgiving...so I'll be going to my girlfriend's house.

Volunteering is a great answer to "lonely holidays." Thanks for the reminder.

The Weekend...

Friday, November 12, 2010

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I hope the weather is nice in your area. It is supposed to get much cooler here over the next few days...but I hope the weather station is wrong about that. We've been lucky so far, and our days have continued to mostly be sunny and warm. Can't complain about that, can I? Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

    Hi Pam,
I'm running a day late. Too much shopping. All day Friday and again this a.m. I spent all afternoon (well...3-1/2 hours) painting one more wall in my living room. This is probably the last day I could have at least one window open. The weather is supposed to start getting cooler (has been in the mid 60's). It is November...and usually much colder here in PA. So thoroughly enjoying all.

I've had a lovely weekend so far, but am so very tired. No real exercise today except climbing up and down on the ladder and getting up and down off the floor when I was painting along the base edge. Ewww...the knees....!!!! They're telling me...hey...you're not really spry any more....!!! LOL

Hope the remainder of your weekend is Fan-Tab-U-Lous!!! SPARK ON! Gwen

The Gremlin Has Stuck!

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

The Gremlin has struck (AGAIN), and I am only getting a very few email notices from SparkPeople. I know this happens occasionally, and I know it will soon be back to business as usual, but for now, I sure miss the notices of new members, new messages, replys to messages, notices of goodies and comments on my SparkPage, invitations from new friends...Oh, I just miss it all.
