Got a Few Things off my TO DO List...

Monday, October 18, 2010

This weekend I was able to mark a few things off my 'TO DO' list that have been hanging around on there for quite some time. Seriously, I actually DID the things and I did NOT just mark them off (as I occasionally do...well, OK..I do that A LOT). Anyway, that sort of makes me feel like the day is now complete, and I can maybe sleep and not worry about ALL of those things on my 'TO DO' list that just kept getting longer and longer. That's a pretty good feeling! Take care ALL, and keep in touch.

I know the feeling well, I even have 3 grocery store lists for three different stores, not too mention my new schedule that I'm very far behind on now. Whew!!

Oh dear - you've opened up a "whole can of worms" here. All my friends tease me about my lists. They say my lists HAVE lists. (I think they're right - I find them everywhere).

I'm a sad, sad case: I put my list on the computer. Every night I print out the list for the next day and PLANT it on my kitchen counter. During the following day I cross off the things as they're accomplished. And, UGH, write down new ones that enter the cobwebs of my brain. (Most of the time there's far fewer cross-outs than I'd like, with a greater number of "add-ins"). That evening I'll delete those those that were accomplished, put the "add-ins" in and VIOLA - a NEW list for the next day. NO WONDER I'M SICK!!
emoticon

BUT...every once in a while I'll come across an OLD, OLD list that hadn't been destroyed...and it's amazing when I scan over that old list HOW MANY THINGS I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED IN THE INTERIM!!!

I think I'll try to do the same thing with SP...then SOMEDAY I can smile at all the THINGS I'VE ACCOMPLISHED.

My dad was a great list maker. Saturday morning started out with a list that often included tasks for us as well. I think for him, the great satisfaction was to get to the end of the day with all items crossed off. He swore if he didn't make a grocery list he could end up at the store 4 times in one day.

I know what you mean! I got some things done today I've needed to do! I hemmed 3 pair of pants in my "new" size that I need to be wearing but couldn't so I've been wearing my older size too large pants. while I was sewing I fixed the pocket in my bathrobe that's had a hole for awhile and never got around to fixing. I also got laundry done.

Sometimes it's good for our emotional self to have things we've accomplished and feel satisfied with these accomplishments.

Congrats on your accomplishments!!!!

Nothing Much Going On Around Here...

Thursday, October 14, 2010

There really isn't much going on around here that is worth putting into a blog. We did have rain both yesterday and today. That is good because it has been several weeks since we've had any rain. Early voting began today, and since voting is going on in a room in one of the gyms where I work, the good parking spaces were all taken by the time I arrived. LOL...I got my exercise in just walking to the building BEFORE I began teaching my class. That same gym is having a Fall Carnival this Saturday, so the room where I teach was filled with decorations and children's games that will be played Saturday at the Carnival. I wish I could help with the Carnival, but I have to work elsewhere on Saturday. That's about it...nothing to report other than just basic chatter. Maybe there will be more action in my day tomorrow. Take care ALL, and have a wonderful Thursday.

Flu Shot

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

I got a flu shot today. They were giving them at one of the gyms where I work. For some reason that I didn't even think about...I just jumped in line and got one. I haven't had a flu shot in about 10 years nor have I had the flu. I am in contact with a lot of people every day and since gyms are known for passing germs around, I feel better protected now from getting the flu this fall and winter season. Hope this works!!!!!

MNNICE 10/13/2010 10:17PM

I've had one some years, and some years not. I haven't gotten the flu either way. When the vaccine is plentiful, I have a shot -- if it's in demand, I skip it so it's more available to those in poorer health and/or at greater risk.

Good for you. Hope you remain healthy this fall and winter. I get mine each year because I have a compromised immune system and diabetes. Both diseases are recommended for the shots.

I have gotten a flu shot for many years now. I have a regular doctor's checkup at the end of this month and will get mine at the same time.

They also recommend (I think after a certain age) to get a pneumonia shot. I got that last year (or was it the year before?). Have they invented a MEMORY SHOT yet? If so...look out everyone...I'll try to be the first in line!!

I never used to get them, but because I don't have to pay for them now, I get them. If you are mixing in with a lot of people like you do, it is definitely a good idea.

FREE Groceries

Monday, October 11, 2010

In my last blog, I wrote about the family owned grocery store around the corner from my home. Well...September marked their 100 year anniversary, and all during the month they ran super specials. Free items were given with each $10.00 purchase during one week in September. That was great, but what was even greater is they had a drawing yesterday. All during September, shoppers entered their names for an end of the month drawing for a free bag of groceries. AND...my name was one of the lucky shoppers who won a FREE bag. My name was not the only name pulled from the basket. I don't know how many names were drawn, but it was probably 25 or so. The basket was packed with names though because one could enter each time he/she shopped at the store. I did not enter each time that I was in the store, because I was usually too rushed to enter, but I did enter several times. LOL..Made my day!

Take care ALL, and have a wonderful week!

That is SO COOL!!! And you really deserve such an awesome gift. I agree that was a wonderful way for the store to celebrate! If there was any hot cocoa in there, I'm on my way down. Unlock the door!!! (Michael wants to know whether there was any chicken and cheese catfood - his favorite)??

HAVE AN AWESOME DAY and a TERRIFIC TUESDAY tomorrow.
