Too Much Drama....

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

There was definitely too much drama in my morning today. Fortunately, by mid afternoon, things were beginning to run smoothly, and the evening went very well. There were a few instances that occurred this morning that caused me to have to remind myself of all of the things that I am thankful for...because for the first few hours...it seemed like EVERYTHING wrong that could happen, DID!!!!!! Don't you just LOOOOOOOOOOVE days like that? LOL....Take care all and keep in touch.

I have days when I take 3 tries to get out of the house with everything (purse, keys, lunchbag, the right shoes, etc) I ended up at the gym last week with my sandals on, no sneakers - no go! Fortunately, all days come to an end, and then we get to laugh about it!

The Race...

Saturday, August 08, 2009

There was a 5K in my neighborhood this morning. Our area is not very large but at least 300 participants showed up for the race. The race began at 8:00 AM, and I did not particpate because I had to be at work at 9:00 AM. My sister Kay, who is age 66 participated, AND and she won FIRST PLACE in her age group. WOOHOO!!!!!! However, announcing her winning FIRST PLACE in her age group is NOT the reason I am writing about the race, (I just threw that in since that IS pretty special). I am writing about the race because as I was heading to work around 8:50 AM...I ran into those who were on the last leg of the race. Traffic was at a standstill for the safety of the participants. This is where I saw quite a few large men and women heading for the "FINISH LINE." How PROUD and HAPPY they looked as they WALKED tall, swinging their arms with their heads held high. Never mind that most everyone else had finished the race some time ago. THEY TOO, HAD FINISHED!!!!!!! And THAT is what reaching goals is all about. I didn't get a chance to chat with any of them, but I would imagine they were a weight loss group from some organization or church, or possibly even from SPARKPEOPLE. All I know is that group of men and women have a lot to be proud of themselves about, and I am very proud for them, too. Take care all and keep in touch.

I ran a 4K about 10 years ago. I wasn't in it to win or even place, but to finish. I was one of the last pack to finish. I was so proud of myself. And yes, the accomplishment was what it was all about!

My first 5k I came in pretty near the end too:) I did stop at a garage sale and a house to talk to a gentleman about his cherry tree - and I was supposed to be running - lol.

Now I do a 10 to 11 minute mile, depending on how far I run. I've come a long way. I've never placed 1st in my age group, but I did get 2nd once! Maybe someday...

You are right, it is not about winning or losing, it is about finishing the race. Good for them. emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's The Weekend...

Friday, August 07, 2009

It's The Weekend, and I am probably one of the few people who has so much to do on the weekend, that I look forward to Monday....LOL. Sound unreal? It's real, alright. However, time is passing by so fast that I try not to wish ANY of it away. Have you also noticed how fast time is passing by? Gosh, it is almost the middle of August. Where has this year gone? Take care all and keep in touch.

I hear you on that one. It seems there are never enough hours in the day to do all the things I do. And this year really is just zipping by for me as well. Have a happy Monday then!!! LOL.

It is scary to think that the holidays are right around the corner! The only good thing about the summer ending for me is that the shore traffic will return to normal which is always a blessing! Have a great weekend!

Gotta a little time to chill today....

Thursday, August 06, 2009

Yes, that is right...I have a little time to chill today. It wasn't planned...it was a last minute notice from my employer that I did not have to come in until this evening because some type of maintenance is going on in the building. So what am I to do with all of this 'chilling' time? Well I could do some major housework, or run errands, or catch up on paperwork, or clean the 6 litter boxes, or catch up on the oodles of laundry, or cut the grass, or take my vehicle in to be serviced, or shampoo the carpets... BUT I think I will hang out here on SparkPeople for a little while longer, and then take a nap. Now THAT'S what I call "CHILLING!!!!!" Can I get a "WOOHOO" on that!!!!...LOL. Take care all, and keep in touch.

WooHoo Pam! I'm chillin' a bit today as well. Been working hard for the past two days with extra fitness exercise trying to take off a couple of pounds that I gained on the weekend. Slipped up this past weekend and gave into french fries and a strawberry shake. I managed to wash my car, sweep the garage and do a little yard work this morning, but, I'm taking the rest of the day to lay in the sun and listen to music. It's a tough life.
Hope you're having a great day!
