Some Kind of Busy Day!

Saturday, August 15, 2009

Boy! This was some kind of busy day! I had a class at 9:00 AM, and another at 10:00 AM, and yet another at 11:15 AM. That is a normal Friday schedule for me, and also another class at 4:30 PM. What is NOT a normal Friday for me is that I worked as a chaperone at a skating rink from 6:45 PM until 10:45 PM. There were over 120 kids there for a "Back to School" event. I got out easy. It actually began at 6:00, but I couldn't get there that early because I was working elsewhere, and it wasn't officially over until midnight. However, since the crowds were clearing around 10:00 PM, I was told around 10:30 that I could leave if I wanted to...and I WANTED to...LOL. It was fun though, but it was a very long and busy day. Take care all, and keep in touch.

Wow! You certainly did have a busy, busy day. I'm sure with school just starting up, it's been pretty hectic week. I'm a little surprised that the crowd starting clearing around ten; but, I guess the parents are trying to get the kids back into a school routine and decided midnight was too late, even for a weekend. No matter what the reason for the early departure, for your sake, I'm glad it happened !

Take care!

I Sort of THOUGHT I Was Being Robbed!!!!!

Thursday, August 13, 2009

This afternoon I was awakened from a nap (and I sleep like a rock), by the sound of someone or something causing a commotion in my kitchen. I froze thinking someone was in my house rummaging through my kitchen cabinets. Realizing the kitchen is probably NOT where most robbers find what they are looking for, it certainly sounded like my kitchen cabinets were being invaded. But whoever was in there wasn't making any effort NOT to be discovered. I got up quietly from the sofa (where I'd been asleep) and started moving towards the kitchen. As I peeked around the corner, I saw the culprit....LOL...my 16 month old cat KOBE. He was making the rounds of the kitchen cabinets, opening each door and slamming it shut. Clever kitty!!!!!! I guess he was exploring to see if he could find the cabinet that contained the bag of catfood...LOL.

Take care all and keep in touch.

I had that problem with footsteps--turned out to be Toby (our dog). Maybe you should have told KOBE to take a nap with you. lol I bet you laughed when your heart-rate lowered.

Brings back memories. Our Kitty that passed away a couple months ago loved to get in our cupboards and sleep in the Tupperware ... eewwwwwww ... needless to say I tried and tried to find a way to keep her out and nothing worked! She was so small she could get the doors open far enough even with the child proof locks and still get in!!! I eventually moved the Tupperware and put some old "plasticware" in it's place and let her sleep in comfort!

Clever kitty! And he even closed them. My cats pull open the lower cabinets, but they don't close them.

OMG!!! I think I would have been frozen with fear. That is a clever kitty but next time he should be careful not to give his mama a heart attack!! You gotta love pets! I used to have a cat that would open my kitchen cabinets and SLEEP inside with the dishes. I had to start tying them shut!

Thank goodness my kitty is too lazy for all that. But how interesting that a cat can do that. Oh maybe you should video tape it for YouTube!

Best wishes

Smart Kitty! At least he was shutting the doors back. That is more than some teenagers or husbands do!

I had to install childproof locks on all my lower kitchen cabinet doors. One of my cats routinely opened each cabinet door and then went inside to explore. He still goes around periodically and rattles each door to see if by chance he can get in this time. You can hear the Thump, Thump all over the house. Fortunately he leaves the upper cabinets alone.

Too Much Drama....

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

There was definitely too much drama in my morning today. Fortunately, by mid afternoon, things were beginning to run smoothly, and the evening went very well. There were a few instances that occurred this morning that caused me to have to remind myself of all of the things that I am thankful for...because for the first few hours...it seemed like EVERYTHING wrong that could happen, DID!!!!!! Don't you just LOOOOOOOOOOVE days like that? LOL....Take care all and keep in touch.

I have days when I take 3 tries to get out of the house with everything (purse, keys, lunchbag, the right shoes, etc) I ended up at the gym last week with my sandals on, no sneakers - no go! Fortunately, all days come to an end, and then we get to laugh about it!

The Race...

Saturday, August 08, 2009

There was a 5K in my neighborhood this morning. Our area is not very large but at least 300 participants showed up for the race. The race began at 8:00 AM, and I did not particpate because I had to be at work at 9:00 AM. My sister Kay, who is age 66 participated, AND and she won FIRST PLACE in her age group. WOOHOO!!!!!! However, announcing her winning FIRST PLACE in her age group is NOT the reason I am writing about the race, (I just threw that in since that IS pretty special). I am writing about the race because as I was heading to work around 8:50 AM...I ran into those who were on the last leg of the race. Traffic was at a standstill for the safety of the participants. This is where I saw quite a few large men and women heading for the "FINISH LINE." How PROUD and HAPPY they looked as they WALKED tall, swinging their arms with their heads held high. Never mind that most everyone else had finished the race some time ago. THEY TOO, HAD FINISHED!!!!!!! And THAT is what reaching goals is all about. I didn't get a chance to chat with any of them, but I would imagine they were a weight loss group from some organization or church, or possibly even from SPARKPEOPLE. All I know is that group of men and women have a lot to be proud of themselves about, and I am very proud for them, too. Take care all and keep in touch.

I ran a 4K about 10 years ago. I wasn't in it to win or even place, but to finish. I was one of the last pack to finish. I was so proud of myself. And yes, the accomplishment was what it was all about!

My first 5k I came in pretty near the end too:) I did stop at a garage sale and a house to talk to a gentleman about his cherry tree - and I was supposed to be running - lol.

Now I do a 10 to 11 minute mile, depending on how far I run. I've come a long way. I've never placed 1st in my age group, but I did get 2nd once! Maybe someday...
