Haven't been here for a long while

Friday, December 26, 2014

I have been ignoring SparkPeople and my diet/exercise and have probably gained a bunch of weight. I have been so depressed with my weight/looks that I have just fallen into a deep dark hole. I hate to see myself in the mirror, try on clothes or see people (even family) because I am sure they think I am large and hideous. So depression has been winning and my healthy choices probably haven't been that great.

Right now I am hating the body I am in.

emoticon Don't let negative thinking keep you away from the very place where you can find the most encouragement and support. You are beautiful and worthwhile, just like you are today. Jump in where you are and make small steps towards your goals and you will be surprised how soon you will feel more motivated to have a healthy lifestyle. You can do it; one day at a time. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Not sure anyone will read my blog or comment but here goes
I am Lori, married to a great guy
Mom of three ages 22 to 17 (she turns 17 on Wednesday) and step mom to 3 boys
I am a photographer out of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada
I have 3 dogs, 2 goldens and a bulldog mix
I had a back injury going on its third year which messed up my back and left side
On a bunch of medication which made me gain weight and lack of exercise due to pain
I also CRAVE sweets since I went on medication, but all the weight gain and lack of exercise has made my blood pressure jump so I am hopeing that if I loose weight I won't have to go on another medication

Hi Lori, welcome to SparkPeople. You already have good suggestions from the other people who have commented, so I won't try to add to those. But I have had back problems since around the week I got pregnant with my son (now 36 years old.) It isn't debilitating anymore, but I had some really severe problems for awhile.

I just want to encourage you to move as best you can and try out the seated workouts for a start. I don't know much about how the Canadian health care system works, but I can tell you that a good chiropractor did wonders for me - and a good one also knows when you send you to an MD if needed. At any rate, you have a lot of sympathy from me. It's pain like nothing else I have ever experienced - including natural childbirth with both my kids - the 2nd one weighing in at 10-1/2 pounds.

SP is a great site with lots of help and support. Best wishes as you begin your journey.

Hiya Lori! Welcome to SparkPeople. My name is Tiffany. I've been with SparkPeople a little over a year. I'm a single mom of two girls (24 and 19). I love this site and the resources it offers free. I would recommend the following:

1. Check out the free exercise videos. I'm not sure if you have mobility issues or not. However, the exercise videos range from very beginner to more advanced. They even have a great series of chair exercises.

2. Check out ~Indygirl's Sparkpage and blogs. She has made amazing progress, all while dealing with disability and pain. ~Indygirl has some really good advice and is very approachable if you have questions. Here's a link to her page:

3. I love the trackers. They really help me stay accountable and find progress when the scale is moving so slowly. They can be a pain when you first start using them, but build your favorites and that really helps find items you use regularly.

I hope you love SparkPeople as much as I do.
