Morning Prayer

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

I just thought I would write an entry about a major point of stability in my life -- the Daily Office. Or, daily prayer. the first "office" is Morning Prayer, which is a set of prayers, canticles, psalms, and appointed readings for the day. Always, this turns me around and provides me with direction for the day. This places me in a position of thanksgiving and provides me with strength. I've been doing this for about 10 years now. Sometimes alone, but for the last few years this is said daily at my (Episcopal) church and so I start the day as part of a very small group with Morning Prayer. Over time this soaks into my bones!

Oh, to let judgement of myself and of others go....always easier to follow a a healthy food plan when I am remembering this. But, in reference to what you said, I am able to be consistent in the mornings at prayer but less so at night.

Gratitude needs to be practiced everyday. I do meditation in the mornings but find that I have more difficulty focusing in the evening. I find that not having to "judge" others has made me far kinder of myself.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ida and Sunflowergirl79. I wasn't raised with this "attitude of gratitude"! In fact, it was quite foreign to my family. But it makes all the difference and I have been learning to love myself and "own" my body.

This is how everyone should start the morning is with prayer & also end the day with prayer

I do this also every morning as I have so many health problems that I thank God for letting me get up in the morning and then at night thank him for letting me get through one more day in my life.

God Bless
Ida

Out of Routine

Saturday, April 20, 2013

I'm really trying to be flexible, but I recognize that being out of my routine leaves me feeling very anxious. I was able to work at home all last week and therefore have control of my schedule and my food. So, today, I'm hosting an all day meeting and I left home before I could say Morning Prayer and then go to SparkCoach. I said some Morning Prayer in the car -- not the lections for the day, though. And I am tracking food and I am doing lunch alone so I could go back and run through the spark coach set for the day. That feels better. The visualiztions really really help -- I so want to be clean in my food... I *almost* want to be active!

Great job. You have to be flexible as life is never neat. You can do this.

Joined the YWCA

Thursday, April 18, 2013

Taking this in small steps. Just got back from the Y in the next town over and I paid for membership for the next 12 months. This is a healthy, happy, place and I'm looking forward to it ------except I'm scared! I will see the Wellness Director tomorrow or Monday to discuss some time with a personal trainer and/or classes that would be good. I know I'll feel better and I'm looking forward to that.

emoticon I was a little scared when I first joined a gym too. It's a good idea to meet with the director and/or a trainer just to explore all the options and get recommendations. I'm sure you'll met some great people there.

Well done! You are so right that the Y is a happy healthy place. :) I hope you enjoy your membership and meet some nice people there! Knowing that I'll see friendly, familiar faces at my fitness classes is definitely a motivator for me, and I hope it is for you too. I'm sure you'll learn more at your meeting.

I Called the YWCA

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

Its like pulling teeth for me! *But* I called the Y and will go see it tomorrow. If all is well, I'll join and hope for an orientation on Friday. They have many classes and the atmosphere I know is healthy. I need to support and will consider a personal trainer. These last few days on SP have left me feeling so good. I'm tracking every bite, using the Coaching, listening to the SparkRadio, cooking well, and reading/joining community. Thanks everyone. So many 100+ pound losers. I will be one, too.

Investing in Myself, Supported by Sparkpeople

Saturday, April 13, 2013

Today I am logging food -- I've done that before. I've also had periods of working out...but I haven't stuck to it. this time, I'm logging food, starting this page, engaging in the spark community, and trying out sparkcoach and spark radio. Time to follow the path. I listened to Pamela Peeke today -- very good information. I want to heal! emoticon

Logging every bite or sip that goes in your mouth is a great way to begin. If you stick with that, AND interact with a group(s) here, you will have the key to success. Truly!

Good luck on your journey to health.
