Good Morning, September!

Sunday, September 01, 2013

Mmmmmm...Cup of Hawaiian Hazelnut Coffee with Almond Joy creamer, Udi's Gluten-free Cinnamon Toast, and a container of Raspberry Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt with fresh, diced raspberries added (omg!)and I am ready for the day!
The husband is now out mowing the front acre...love that sound in the summer emoticon

Going to try some of the yummy sounding veggie recipes in today's Spark article about Grillin' on the BBQ later in the day to celebrate my oldest daughter's B'Day. We have TONS of fresh veggies from the garden - zucchini, summer squash, tomatoes, corn, cucumbers - man it's been a good season this year!

Daughter has requested applecake for her birthday cake...a little unusual to be sure, but yummy none the less! So there will be some baking going on as well...and yeh - I DO have to do the laundry...

Have a Great Day everyone!

We've already closed down the early summer garden, and started the late summer garden, but I surely did love the zucchini and cucumbers this year while they lasted.... the fresh new tomatoes are thriving and blooming but it will be a while before it's cool enough at night for them to set fruit...

A little bit about me...

Friday, August 30, 2013

I am an amateur photographer that started a facebook page this year with portraits and landscapes - which helped me to actually feel like a "real" photographer! I also like to journal, draw, do various crafts & projects and love all things creative. I work as an administrative assistant - which is not so very creative, so I love the time I get to devote to creative endeavours!

My husband is a retired postal worker and a creative woodworker. I started an Etsy shop for his beautiful hand-turned on a lathe candle holders and other items. But mostly we sell at local craft fairs.

I am 61 and have been and continue to be many things in my life:
I have been a bank teller, a postal worker, a stay at home mom (only for about 4 yrs), a drugstore cashier/ad room associate, a department store photographer, an instructional assistant in Kindergarten(that one was for 10 yrs) a floral designer, owned my own dried-floral design business, a manufacturing associate, a receptionist and now an admin. Whew!

I also have four children and four grandchildren - Life is good, but could be so much better if I didn't always wish I were thinner! I want to lose about 62 lbs so that I can finally throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, or a pretty summer dress and not worry about my bulges hanging out and how I can disguise them! I want to be able to go to Lake Powell (one of our family addictions) and not be constantly aware of sitting around in a bathing suit! Arggggh!!!!

My Original Intro Text from 2012...

Thursday, August 29, 2013

This was my original Introduction Text from last year...I feel like I want to update that, but I didn't want to lose this...
I like to be fit, but due to back and hip problems - my ability to walk without pain had really limited not only my ability to exercise, but my general lifestyle as well...even the shortest walk from my office to the copy machine was excrutiating. This had gone on in varying degress and progressing over time for at least five years...Now I have two brand new hips (two separate hip replacement surgeries in the last 7 months) and I am sooooo looking forward to getting my life back! I like walking, hiking, swimming, bowling - all things that I have been so limited in doing...Obviously my weight has gotten out of control with lack of exercise and is my biggest stumbling block to self-esteem.

Still Here!

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Wow - I can't believe it has been a year since I last posted anything on my blog page...Unfortunately I am no slimmer or trimmer than I was then. emoticon No one but myself to blame for that I guess...Geez, I still can't get over the fact that a whole year has gone by and I weigh exactly the same...there have been a few ups and downs in my weight, but nothing that actually amounted to anything.
Well, I guess the best thing to do is just start over - there is something to be said for fresh starts!
SO...Here I go with my new emoticon
I commit to posing at least one blog entry per week...hoping that will help me to stay focused on both my progress and my goal. emoticon
Please wish me luck, determination, enthusiasm and support to accomplish my goal this time around - Thanks! emoticon

Well, today starts my third year with Spark. You said that you are weighing the same as you did a year ago, well, considering that I am more than I was two years ago, you lost weight in my eyes. lol
We are both ready to start again and hopefully this will be the last time for both of us. I do wish you luck, motivation and I support you in all that you are going to accomplish. This will be a good year 2 for you- my fingers are crossed!
