Twas the week after Christmas and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste.
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruitcake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore --
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Well, as seems to be the norm for me... I am 2 weeks of no real loss, then 2 weeks of good losses and back and forth. I guess as long as the stalling doesn't kill me each time, I am good. This week I have lost 3 lbs when over the past 3 weeks I had only lost 1 lb and could hardly keep it off. Just 2 more pounds essentially and I will be at 199! Finally that dang 2 number gone. I am 201 today and just about over the moon! I only wanted to be under 200 before Christmas and I am going to make it! If I can somehow manage to lose 5 more lbs before the end of the year, I will have lost 70 total pounds this year! That is pretty dang decent for a someone who still doesn't eat health food and is still just learning how to get active! Considering most of my exercise doesn't even cause me to break a sweat, you can tell I am not working that hard either!
So anyway, that is my report for this week! Have 3 more weeks to lose 5 lbs, that isn't too bad! Unless being home on vacation kills me, but as long as I stay active, I do better at home activity wise, just not as good getting my water in. So it is a odd trade off, and one I need to work to avoid!
I will have a lot of running to be doing in my C25k program. One more run in Week 3. That is 5 min warm up, 90 sec run, 90 walk, 3 min run, 3 min walk, 90 sec run, 90 sec walk, 3 min run and 5 walk. Then on to Week 4!!! Pray for me!!! It is a 5 min warm up, 3 min run, 90 sec walk, 5 min run, 2.5 min walk, 3 min run, 90 sec walk and 5 run and 5 walk. If that doesn't burn some calories off me... not sure what will! Guess there is one plus to running in the winter, you sweat, but you don't mind it as bad as when it is hot. It keeps you warm. I just need to get the right gear for this, but I am getting there. And it will allow me to indulge a little on food the next few weeks and still keep my calorie deficit where it needs to be!
So when I call in to ShopNBC for a Sensa testimony on New Year's Day I will have some serious braggin to do. I will have been married 16 years on 1/1/10 to the love of my life and I will be less than 40 lbs from my goal weight! My birthday is in March...and though I won't be at goal by then, I should be very close and the smallest I will have been in recent memory. I haven't been under 190 since I started actually knowing what I weigh. I spent most years before my children were born without a scale in my house, so no idea what I weighed at different times. Just the general sizes and I have stayed between 14-18 sizes back then I am sure. So when I get below a size 14 that will be a major win for me too!
Jan 2009 - 266 lbs and Size 24/26
Dec 2009 - 201 lbs and Size 14/16
And I am ready to ROCK 2010!!!!

I noticed it had been a while since I blogged about my best friend, Sensa! So thought I would post a recent update. I don’t have any pictures to go with this one, but I think the number can speak for themselves!
I will give you the whole outline of my progress, and you can decide for yourselves!
January 2009 – Starting planning to diet. Used Slim Fast products for a few weeks and lost 2.5 lbs.
February 2009 – Started using Sensa on 2/6/2009. Lost 7.5 lbs in 30 days. Helpful changes my life at this time… smaller plates and no addictions to soda. I have been a water drinker for years already!
March – April 2009 – Lost 6.5 lbs each month. Helpful changes in my life at this time… eating out less due to budget issues and trying to eat dinner before 7 pm each night. Also joined SparkPeople to help log my food and all the other fancy tools! I also went on spring break trip to CA to visit family and turned 34! And still lost weight!
May 2009 – Lost 9.5 lbs this month. I purchased EA Active and started trying some of the exercises. (Lost of total of 30 lbs)
June 2009 – Lost 2.5 lbs this month, but lost a lot of inches while doing my first EA Active 30 Day Challenge (Easy).
July 2009 – Lost 5 lbs this month and lost more inches while doing my second round of EA Active 30 Day Challenge (Medium). Trying hard to make being active more a part of my life as busy working wife and mother of 2.
August 2009 – Lost 6.25 lbs this month! All to Sensa’s credit because I hardly lifted a finger all month. Busy busy! (Over 40 lbs lost)
September 2009 – Lost 4 lbs this month! Started walking as much as I could to try to get 10,000 per day. It was impossible for me, think I got to 10k one day, but I got a lot more active and out in the fresh air and was able to get the habit to stick at this point. The kids go with me when the mood suits, either walking or on scooters or in the stroller.
October 2009 – Lost 6.2 lbs this month! Added a new weapon to my arsenal. The Body Bugg! It has been a great tool to help determine how much I can do each day and thus giving me the guidelines I will be able to use forever. Though it helps me be more active, due to trying to impress myself with my stats, it is still Sensa that allows me to stay in my target calorie intake ranges. I am able to get to 10k steps sometimes, but only on the weekends. Too much sitting during the week, but still, getting 5000-8000 steps per day is way more active than my life was before! And I couldn’t have started walking if I hadn’t already lost 40-50 lbs!
November 2009 – So far I have lost 4.6 lbs! Between the info my Body Bugg gives me and my own personal challenges and team challenges, I am happy to report I am still losing at a steady healthy pace. (61 lbs YTD!)
I have to thank my husband for eating whatever I cook and for watching the kids so I can walk in the evenings. I have to thank Sensa for making a product that is so simple to fit into my busy life. I have to thank my darling kids for working out with me and making it all fun! And all my friends everywhere… on SparkPeople, Sensa and Facebook for cheering me on.

Let's start with the "Before" picture...
That is me in March 2009. That is 4 generations in that picture. I had already started losing weight, but it wasn't yet noticeable, less than 10 lbs. But I had found my motivation and I was going to do it. Note the little angels in the pictures, they are mine and I wanted to keep up and enjoy life with them for a long time!
I lost about 20 lbs before I found SparkPeople. I use a portion control diet aid called Sensa and it has really worked for me. And I lost almost another 10 lbs or so with it just tracking food on SparkPeople and using Sensa before I decided I was ready and willing to start exercising. I didn't have a great reason for not exercising other than my busy life and lack of funds/time for a gym membership. That is when EA Active was launched in May 2009. I already had the Wii and so I got this program and jumped in. I could do it at home, I could do it inside (which is important in Texas during the Summer) and I could do it whenever it suited me. In June and July I did back to back 30 Day Challenges and lost almost 10 lbs and 24 inches. I was getting fit, my kids were playing along to and we turned our living room into our own little race track. I would chase the kids around the coffee table during "running" on the Wii and it was so funny that you didn't realize it was exercise!
Here is a “During” picture. This was roughly 30 lbs lost and where I started working out.
Here is another “During” picture taken at the end of the July. It was roughly 40 lbs lost.
I took a little time off from EA Active in August and really paid for it, not in weight loss, that was still going well enough with my portion control, but my mental health suffered a great deal I think. At the end of August, I joined a challenge at work to walk 10,000 Steps per day. I started walking in the evenings, instead of using the Wii. It was getting nice outside and I would wait till nearly dark. I loved the new Fitness Maps and used them to map out my whole neighborhood and I would use my iPhone to log my lap times and listen to Audiobooks while I walked. I rarely made the 10, 000 per day, but I was getting a lot more steps per day than I had been and I know that I was getting the mental health benefits too. So in September I walked everywhere I could. Our church was only a few blocks from home and my daughter was there 2 nights a week, so I would drop her off in the car and leave her scooter with her and then I would take the car home and walk back to get her when her activity was up and she would ride her scooter home. Other times I would put the baby in the stroller and take her on my walks around the neighborhood. I could just give her the iPhone and let her watch a movie or play games and she would be content for a lap or two.
I work full time, I am married and have 2 active children. I really thought fitness time would hard to come by, and some days it is. I am not a morning person and still won’t get up early to work out. When I work out, it is in evening at some point. On the weekends I might work out after I get up and before I fix breakfast, but that is about it.
Now it is October and I am back to EA Active and walking. The weather gets iffy for walking and I have to stay inside some nights. I have lost 53 lbs so far this year and I am hoping to make it over 70 before the end of the year. I have really found the benefits of exercise in my life and I want my children to see it to for their lifelong physical and mental health!
