Ok, so my funny kid story of the week...
On Sunday, I went to our local sporting goods store to look for a Balance Ball (medicine ball, yoga ball, etc.) I decided my abs need more of a workout than I have been doing and I hate getting on the floor completely. So I got one with a DVD workout too. I took it home, inflated the ball and while cleaning in my daughter's room, sat on it a while to get used to it. I also put the DVD on in her room to see if I thought I could handle the workout before I started it.
So, for those that have followed my little Sydnee's workout stories, you know what a little copycat I have. Everyone else... Sydnee is 2, and she is very clever at picking up skills. While I work out with EA Active, she does all the motions with me. When I run for the program, she runs all over the house too, all the while telling everyone in the house to "Wun, Wun!" It is a darling sight to behold.
Ok, so back to the story, so I am in her room, just sitting on the ball and randomly watching the DVD while picking up her floor, so I can eventually workout in there. Next thing I notice is her leaning backwards over two pillows and following the motions on the DVD. It is the funniest thing to watch. She is stretching, reaching, leaning, squatting, everything. That was Sunday night. I eventually did the workout by the way, but without an audience.
So Monday night, I get the ball from her room and put it in the living room to sit on and practice on while watching TV with her. I tried doing push-ups on it, like the DVD had showed the night before. And 2 seconds later, Sydnee has the smallest foot stool in the living room parked right next to me and is laying on her tummy on it and leaning forward on her arms doing push-ups. It was all I could do not to fall off the ball laughing at her. She is just the funniest thing ever! After we did those, I tried doing squats with it and while doing those, she stood beside me and held my torso and shoulder like she was spotting me. It was just so sweet! I can hardly tell the story without crying for the sweetness of the memory!!!
So last night I go home and go to do the SparkPeople 5 Min Ab Workout with Ball and I started it, but soon realized that I really need to change shoes and clothes. So I paused the workout and went to my room to do that. She comes running after me fussing all the way and pointing back to her room. So after I change, I grab socks and shoes and follow her back to her room. She walks up to the ball, points and pats it and starts indicating I am to sit down on it NOW! And then walks over to my laptop and unpauses the video (did I mention she just turned 2) and indicates again that I am not done and that I need to get back to work. So not only do I have a work out buddy, I now have my own personal drill sergeant. Gotta love kids!
