Back from my travels

Wow. I had a very busy June and July. Finished up my last year teaching at one school and had to pack up to get moved out and ready for another school and grade level. Then I went up to Reno, Nevada to help my husband with judging a commerical brewing contest (tough work, I know.) The day I got back I flew to New Orleans with a group of teachers who are all invovled in the Teaching American History Grant. We work and write curriculum during the year and then go to do field study in the Summer. Fun but busy and hot!

Two days after coming home from that I was off again with my husband and close friends for two weeks in Ireland! That was truely a dream of a lifetime vacation. I am home for these next two weeks before I head off to Denver for another field study with the history grant.

During this time at home I will be helping my husband with coordinating State Fair Activities for commerical and homebrewers. One being a big Brewfest of all the awards winners from the State Fair competitions. I also will have to travel up to Arcata, Ca to help my son get settled into his new apartment for the upcoming school year at HSU.

Whew! This is my busiest summer ever. For someone who doesn't travel much this has been quite an interesting couple of months. I am pleased with all this traveling that I have still been able to follow my the program for the most part. ( I guess lifestyle changes in eating instead of being on a diet help.) Weight maintained pretty much, and I am hoping to continue on the downward path. LIttle behind in meeting my goal date, but I am still down over 10lbs. So I look at where I have come from, and I am feeling good! Did two hot yoga classes this week and hope to squeeze in a few more before taking off again. Fortunately all my travels require a lot of walking and physical movement so that helps!

Two weeks with no weight loss emoticon I had to keep reminding myself that if I was exercising everyday and using more calories than I taking in while eating a balanced diet I would have to be losing weight. I kept it up. Took a little break from logging in but still followed a reasonable eating plan and ramped the exercise. It paid off . When I weighed this week I had lost 3lbs! . emoticon I looked at my goal chart for how the weight loss should be going and my weight was exactly where it should be on the graph! Amazing!!! Don't get discouraged if things vary a bit from week to week. Keep looking at the long haul and follow your progress on the reports. They really help. I can easily fit into my clothes with nothing hanging over and am looking forward to the loss of the next 12 pounds. emoticon

Clothes fitting again!

Hot weather is upon us in Sacramento. Today I was able to slip into my Spring clothes and light weight pants. I couldn't wear these 1 month ago. Very happy with the firming and weight loss. One pound away from my first goal of losing 10lbs. After that on to another 10lbs and my ultimate goal weight.

Week off almost over

Easter tomorrow! This is the first year we won't have either of our children home. They both are at college and already had Spring Break. Family is still coming over; yet, it will be somewhat strange as all the nieces and nephews are now young adults like our own kids.

Back to work on Monday. I have to make a big decision on whether to stay at my school or opt out and go to an new school. Not sure what I will decide yet.


Test results say I am healthy!

Just got test results in from my physical. All levels look great! In fact my HDL and LDL are better than they were in 2008. Last time they were checked. My over all cholesterol is only 145 and my HDL and LDL are where they are suppose to be. My blood pressure was 108/68 and my pulse was 90 when I was at the Dr's Monday. All good news. I am glad that eating healthy and exercising is paying off. If it wasn't I would be pretty depressed. It feels good to have hard work pay off, even if I would like to weigh a little less and have a little smaller tummy! I just have to remind myself that overall health is what really matters. emoticon
