We arrived in Salem, Oregon yesterday so that we are here this morning to go to our first state capitol in our quest to visit all 51 capitals this summer.
After doing a 10km walk (volksmarch) this morning we will head to Sacramento (about 8 hours away). We'll be spending the night with my uncle. On Sunday morning we'll visit the California capitol on a 10km. Later that day we'll head to Carson City, Nevada..., etc.
So excited! and 120 minutes of exercise each day for the Starfish!
If you want to follow along on our adventures I'm blogging at 51in51.com .
There's a Social Media Page on the blog where you should be able to see our postings on Facebook, even if you don't do Facebook at: facebook.com/51in51 .

I haven't been on Sparkpeople much lately except to log in and get my Sparkpoints... but, I wanted to put out there what I've got planned for this summer. Last year I climbed the Eiffel Tower 100 days in a row - 1665 stairs a day.
This summer, we're doing something different...
I woke up on January 5th with a dream that I loaded my two boys in our van and we set off to visit all 51 US capitals in 51 days. I couldn't let go of the idea that for the rest of their lives my boys would be able to say, "When I was a teenager my mom and I did this crazy thing..."
So, we're going to take the trip! Our first capital will be Salem, Oregon on June 28th. We'll finish off in our home capital in Olympia, Washington on August 17th.
While we're on the journey we're going to do a volksmarch at each capitol - a 10km map guided walk. That means we'll be doing 51 walks in 51 days, too.
I'm going to blog about it at 51in51.com . I invite you to follow along. I don't know that I'll have much time to post here on Sparkpeople while we're on the road. I'm also posting on Facebook (there's link to our Facebook page on the blog).
I'd love to meet Sparkfriends all around the US. If you want to try to meet up with us, you can find our itinerary here 51in51.com/itinerary/events/ .
Hope to see you somewhere on the road!

Well, the last two months have not been pretty. Since vacation things have been stressful at work and stressful at home. I can't say I've even been "trying" lately. I've re-gained about 15 pounds.
A coworker and I have discussed that our weightloss and exercise are things we can control in our lives right now with everything that's going on at work... today I'm going to take steps to take back that control.
I'm resetting my Striiv to get my motivation back to get my 10,000 steps in each day. I'll head to the gym this morning before going to work. I'm going to start tracking my food.
Back to work!
For my own personal record, here are my Striiv stats since I last reset it on May 11th:
379 Water Donations
Average per day -
Steps: 10,013 avg
Stairs: 1,358 avg (I climbed the Eiffel Tower - 1,665 stairs - every day for 100 days)
Miles: 4.5 avg
Calories: 1,489 avg
Minutes: 163 avg
Running: 26 steps (no couch to 5k here)
Energy: 365,769 avg
Personal Bests -
Energy: 63.2M; 365,769 avg; 1,072,394 pb
Didn't stick with it.
But 2014 is a new year!
Just so I have a record since I reset it:
25 Polio Donations

Heading out the door shortly for a whirlwind 8 day, 7 night driving vacation to Yellowstone, Salt Lake City, Bryce, Zion, the Grand Canyon and Los Vegas!
Who is going? My boys, my sister, our mom and me.
The trip started out as a quick trip to Salt Lake City so that I could do a volksmarch (non-competitive walk) in my 49th state - Utah! Soon expanded into a 3000 mile road-trip. Ah, togetherness.
What is the lone state I will be missing after this trip? Wisconsin.
Bye for now.
