I am struggling to keep myself from going crazy now that school has started back up. That Summer break was so nice that the last thing I want to do now is homework! And I'm not sure who's bright idea it was to take two classes, but whoever it is should be punched in the face or something.
My boyfriend mentioned yesterday that he thought it would be nice for us to go away for the weekend of my birthday (October 2nd). It seemed like a great idea and we started looking at places and making plans. Then I had a wake up call in the form of a huge list of stuff that is due before or shortly after that weekend... discussions, journals, quizzes, exams, etc. So now we'll be staying home so that I can do homework instead. Boo! Luckily, I have a very understanding boyfriend!
I am completely stressing these classes and I don't really know why. Maybe it's because I am so close to finishing up this Associate's degree, FINALLY! These are my last two classes! In my head I know that all I need is a C in each class and I'm set. But in my heart I know that I will not settle for a C... I will strive for an A in both classes even if it stresses me out like crazy. It's just not in my nature to slack off when it comes to school, although sometimes I wish it was! I managed to get a couple of discussions and one journal done so far. I also took my first quiz tonight and got a 100% so that made me feel a little better.
I managed to get in a weird, but good workout today. Our gym seems to be getting busier and it's messing up my routine. I usually get on the elliptical first and then do strength training. Today some guy was on the elliptical, going a million miles an hour on level one... last time that happened I had a totally craptacular workout because I was too distracted/irritated by the fact that he wouldn't just up the levels so he wasn't literally making the machine wobble around because he was going so fast. So I started my strength training first and it just felt all wrong. Luckily, the guy on the elliptical finished up and I was able to switch to my cardio! I managed 7.4 miles in 32 minutes... I'm adding a tenth every couple of workouts, and man do those higher levels make me work for it! Then I switched back and finished up my strength training. You know it's a good workout when you are still dripping sweat long after you've stopped the cardio! And the best part of the day... I got to drink chocolate milk when I got home!
Surprisingly, all of the stress from the classes hasn't had me diving head first into a pint of Ben and Jerry's... and I'm keeping up with the gym routine. Thank goodness for that!
