Getting back on track

Wednesday, February 04, 2009

So, it has been a year since I started using sparkpeople.com. I stopped using it for quite a while-half a year of so but I am determined to get back on track because I am starting to put a few pounds back on. Slipping back into old unhealthy eating habits. I also stopped going to the gym and I rarely workout here at the house. There are too many distractions or emergencies to tend to with my little ones. I fell bummed because of the lack on self-dislipine and the scales going up. I have always been able to maintain my weight, it doesn't seem to work that way anymore, I attribute that to getting older. My husband on the other hand is a few years older but he puts his head to it and the weight drops off-no fair!

WOW! Over eating

Monday, March 31, 2008

Okay, so, I wrote everything I wrote down yesterday including the calories and I found I ate a total of 3205 yesterday. I was shocked. So, I started off really good in the morning as I usually do. I eat the same things, it was lunch. I went to Mcdonalds I ate through 875 cal in one meal. I had a grilled chicken snack wrap, small fry, and the deal breaker was the hot fudge sundae with nuts that alone was 375 and it was really good and I usually don't eat the whole thing but they had fudge all the way to the bottom! YUM! Unfortunately, I figured out later there wasn't enough nutrition because I was hungry a few hours later. Bad choice, however, I am realizing how important it is to write it down and measure so I am aware of the calories I am consuming and recognizing how I feel after I do eat it.

Isn't it amazing how many few calories we think we are consuming? It is an eye opening experience...and that is why I love SPARKpeople so much, I get to keep track of all those calories with just a click.

Good luck with your goals.

Thanks for the tip! My personal trainer suggested I preplan meals ahead of time so I won't be tempted by getting something fast to fill up. I am learning. Today I also logged everything and I tried really hard to ignore my stomach, it was hungry but not growling. I think I need to be intune more with my body and figure out am I really hungry or do I think I am hungry because I am concentrating so much on it. Anyway, I stayed within the recommended caloric intake. I am also nursing so I know I can allot myself 300 extra calories. I am happy I made it today. 2300 cal

It is an eye opener isn't it! LOL We have all done it but we learn from it. Remember smaller portions and snacks.. For me fast food is ok but pick wisely.. Taco Bell order the crunchy tacos, instead of the soft.. Less calories. I haven't had McDonalds in 6 months! LOL If you do go out, google the resturant before going and make wise choices.

I am glad I am not the only one amazed by how much calories are in certain foods. I guess I need to watch Supersize Me-again. How much did you lose? Never mind, I went to your page, you look awesome, so healthy!
