My 7-Day Challenge – Please Help Me Stay Accountable – Day 7 is Here!!!
Today was the seventh day of my seven day challenge and I did it! I completed seven days in a row using Leslie Sansone’s Walk Slim – 3 Fast Miles!
It was an interesting experiment. I didn’t give myself the option to skip a day and that may have been a key point. I just knew I had to do it each day.
Were there days when I didn’t want to do it? Sure, but once I did I was glad I did. Sounds like my normal response to exercise…I’m always glad when I do it. Did I feel guilty about spending 45 minutes each day ‘just to exercise?’ Yes, but I really shouldn’t have. I usually walk 60 plus minutes a day outdoors. While some days I do it continuously, most days I break that time up – so why feel guilty about doing it in a 45 minute block. And for the time spent, it is a good work out.
If I would commit to doing this DVD 5 days a week in the winter (when I can’t walk out doors)…it would be a fine goal for me to make. Even if I alternated between the 2 mile and the 3 mile it would still offer me a challenge and a way to get my exercise in – without leaving home.
It would be economical – I wouldn’t have to purchase a pass at the local high school to walk and I wouldn’t need to spend money on gas to drive there and back. The most convenient point being: I can do it whenever I want to. No set time like at school, which was easy to talk myself out of – especially on those cold, icy winter days.
My new Spark Friend “Moody9” asked if I had a reward planned for completing this challenge. I told her I hadn’t thought about it, but maybe I should. Maybe the purpose of a reward is to acknowledge a job well done and to encourage the continuation of planning and reaching new goals.
I am planning a day out shopping with my two sisters and my mother in October. I have a couple gift cards to a book store to use, so I probably will buy a new book. A new healthy cookbook maybe. Thanks for the idea, Jenn!
Today I was reading an article here titled: "3 Simple Ways to Build Consistency.”
I do believe that consistency is essential to successfully making the changes in my lifestyle that I want to make.
The 3 points were:
1. Never Tell Yourself “I’m not Motivated.”
2. Build Momentum one step at a time.
3. Always have a Plan B.
I think I did employ these points along the way this past week.
I told myself with your wonderful encouragement that “I can do this!”
I did it one session at a time…one day at a time.
And if I couldn’t get to it in the morning like I had hoped, I still had many other hours of the day and I made sure I did fit it in. Actually this work out is my “Winter Plan B” – indoor walking.
I was afraid it wasn’t going to be as good of a work out, but I was wrong. This is way more intense and it truly is a total body work out.
Will I stay with it? Yes.
Will I do it tomorrow? I will do either the 2 Mile or the 3 Mile Fast Walk tomorrow. My schedule is tighter…but not so tight that I can’t continue to plan for exercise.
When one plans, one sets themselves up to succeed.
Thank you everyone, my faithful cheerleaders. You gave me the support and momentum I needed to prove to myself that I can stretch outside my comfort zone and grow – even with exercise.
Have I fallen in love with exercise? No, not yet. But I think I’m liking it better.
Have a Terrific Thursday!!!

My 7-Day Challenge – Please Help Me Stay Accountable – Day 6 Update!
Day 6 is history! I finished my sixth time using Leslie Sansone’s Walk Slim – 3 Fast Miles!
Just noticed that this DVD is mark “Intermediate.”
Had I known that sooner, I probably wouldn’t be doing this challenge. LOL
I didn’t consider myself an “Intermediate” when it comes to Leslie’s workouts. But am becoming one!
She claims that we engage every muscle in our bodies when we do this workout.
If we aren’t, we must come close to it.
Which is really great! It is a full body work out. Very different from my usual outdoor walk.
I’m doing what she calls “talking to the waistline” with standing ab work. I really can feel it tightening my waist, an area I hope to reduce via exercise!
There are Mambo moves in this DVD also. Now, I don’t have my mother, the high school music teacher’s aptitude for rhythm …so any dance move is a challenge for me. I love that according to Leslie, “you can’t do this wrong; there are no wrong moves.” So I try and am getting better each day (I think). One thing I like about Leslie’s approach to fitness is to ‘just do it.’ I’m not judging myself like I have in the past.
I just get to it, do it, and feel good because I did.
Day 7 is on my calendar for tomorrow. Day 7, already? WOW! Time sure flies. Small goals really can motivate…motivate me to make some more goals…to reach for. Small steps do lead to bigger and better things!
Thanks again for being my cheerleaders!
Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

My 7-Day Challenge – Please Help Me Stay Accountable – Day 5!!!
I can check Day 5 off and I have Day 6 on my calendar for tomorrow!
Double knee lifts are getting easier.
Points I heard Leslie make today were:
Life is about choices…
Start today…(I am always saying to myself: If not now, when?)
60 year olds that exercise can move like 20 year olds. Now that sounds encouraging!
I am going to keep going!
Thanks everyone for your encouragement and support, it means a lot to me!
Have the best Tuesday ever!
