Yesterday was my 11 Month SparkVersary.
I joined Spark People on Wednesday, June 16, 2010.
Since that day I have lost 48.2 Pounds! (Spark rounded my initial weight down by half a pound ~ but I'm counting it here today! LOL!)
Spark People set my goal that day to lose 49 pounds.
I remember thinking that was a reasonable goal. It would take work: healthier eating and exercise - but I COULD do it!
The big question - always in the back of my mind - was: I CAN lose that weight, BUT can I keep it off?
Can I learn to live a life that will support that weight?
About 7 years ago I lost weight by walking more and eating less - I thought that was a very healthy approach. A co-worked and friend of mine, also lost weight during that time. We each wanted to lose 50 Pounds. She was 10 pounds lighter than me...and we both lost 50 pounds...and we both gained some of the weight back.
In hindsight, we decided that we each had lost 10 pounds more than we were able to maintain with a reasonable lifestyle. And when we 'failed' to keep off the entire 50 pounds...we just let the weight creep back on.
Stinkin' thinkin' at it's finest!
This time, this time with Spark People and with all the tools, information and support...I have decided to make 49 Pounds Off my Goal.
I would love to lose another 8 pounds.
But can I keep it off - over the long haul - without making myself crazy?
I need to ponder these questions. I need to figure this out...over time.
Maybe I will lose a little more...or maybe not.
49 Pounds will be a major accomplishment for me.
I did it nice and slow. And in a very healthy way.
Now to continue to live that healthy life style, each day for the rest of my life.
So, next month - on June 16, 2011 - I hope to report that I have reached my Spark People Goal of 49 pounds off.
As of this morning I have 1.3 Pounds to go.
But more importantly - for me - I hope that I can report in a couple months that I am still at my goal, living and enjoying my healthier lifestyle!
Thanks Spark Friends for all your support, inspiration & motivation!
I wouldn't be where I am today without your encouragement!
