A New Streak to Add

So currently I have a 95 day log in streak going. I know that once summer comes, that streak will be broken because we go camping where in areas where internet is not available, but for now, I will see how long I can keep it going.

My workout streak is now up to 31 days, and I'm glad about that!

...And I am starting a new streak - Not eating in the car. So far day 3 is complete. This is good for me because I cannot stop at McDonald's and grab a quick breakfast of lunch. I must plan ahead, and so far so good. So these are the three streaks I am concentrating on now. Of course I am also drinking water and tracking that daily as well.

    I love this! You also are seeing the inevitable planned situation coming up. Very sane! You could plan some streak during your vacation period also. One that keeps the spirit of what you are doing now and complements camping.

Time to Kick it in the A$$!

Ok friends! I have had it! 2013 was basically a year from hell for me, and I ate my way through it. Since August, I have been working at a new job that I really like, and it is now time for me to get serious about my food plan. I have made exercise a habit now, and it is now time to work on eating right. I am committing to you, my friends and family to start to be serious about tracking my food. I will do this as many times a week as I can, but I will strive to do it at least 4 times a week. In reality, I would like to get a streak going with this so to do that I need to track daily.

I will welcome any support I can get! I have the right food in my house to pack healthy lunches, so there really is nothing standing in my way except me. Anybody who wants to join me in this endeavor is welcome, (sisters?, mom?) I offer my support to all of you!

    Linda you can do it. I so understand, I ate my way thru 2013, it was a rough year as well for me. This year due to work & insurance we have to do a wellness program or pay higher insurance so I have that reason plus many personal ones. I am doing 100 days of weight loss to help me with food, I am not so good with all that yet, food is still my comfort. But I am over thirty days in of exercising consistently and my goal is to get to 3 to 6 months of doing it consistently so that the habit will stick and once it is ingrained then I want to focus on food.

So I want to join you in your journey, I need to get there too, I need to make this happen.

I developed a weekday food routine which made it easy to track (weekends were my downfall) and I know

    Linda, this time it's for YOU, and YOU are worth it! No beating up on yourself, just little decisions, and pat yourself on the back, move on to the next. It takes time. It takes consistency. Sometimes it takes a little backbone... but YOU can do it!

How do I know? Because if I can, YOU can! And together, as a Spark community... we are unstoppable! emoticon

    Linda, I just left you a comment on your page. Tracking should be done daily, not just a couple of days a week. Why? Because it strengthens the resolve and keeps your stats in your sight. I know how the human mind works and believe me when I say that you need to give it your full effort.

I would also recommend more DETAILS written out. Specifics are good because again they keep us accountable. Details on food program, calorie range, type and duration of exercise. This doesn't need to feel locked in. Of course you are going to have that feeling no matter what you write down because you are starting to change the status quo and the ego doesn't like that.

I know you can do this. It would be wonderful if you had your DH involved also.

You can do it! Once you start a streak it keeps you motivated to keep going. When I gave up diet coke I said I would do it for a month and then it became another month.I have not had a soda in over 2 years. I know tracking everyday might not go on that long but perhaps you setting a target of 4 times a week will be your streak! emoticon

Day 1...Again!

First of all, thanks to all my Spark friends for your support! I really appreciate it.

So, today I got up early to go to the gym, but at the last minute I got involved with doing things around here to pick up, and as a result, I didn't make it, but the good news is, I went the the gym at lunch. Wow, am I glad I did! My leg felt so much better after the 20 minute bike ride! That has motivated me to do it again in the morning. And so the streak begins again! I am taking it slow, because I still have some pain when I do certain things, (like going up stairs), but I will be able to do at least 10 minutes a day again! So happy about that!

Update on My Streak (Workout)

Well, I had a 33 day streak going since December 4th, when on Tuesday, I slipped on the floor at the gym coming out of the shower. I did not fall, but somehow I did something to my leg. It felt like the big bone in my upper thigh slipped out of place, and popped back in. It was horrible pain for the first 5 minutes or so, and then I was finally able to get dressed and go to work. But still in a lot of pain. So I have taken a few days off from working out, allowing that muscle to rest and recover. Each day it feels a little bit better, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to be back at it on Monday. Maybe not full force, but I should at least be able to ride the bike.

So, here's to starting a new streak on Monday!

    Ouch, those floors at the gym are so slippery, do you wear any footwear? I know I am going to if I shower at the gym - if/when I decide to use the gym or hot tub. Usually I am in and out and shower at home.

    Take it easy. You know, a rest day each week, rather than continuous every day working out might be worth considering? Just saying... most of the training plans (the serious ones) demand one day a week to purely recover... a walk on those days is OK, though, so depending on what you're counting... you could be ok.

Ringing in the New Year!

Welcome 2014! I am going to make this the best year ever! I WILL reach my goal weight this year! I WILL be more active this year! I WILL get my diabetes under control this year!

Tonight we had dinner at the local tavern in town. I had a glass of wine, and told my husband that I am changing my lifestyle this year for the better. As I am the cook, I change, he changes! A little later we will stop at a friend's house and ring in the year. I believe there may be some fire works, but that's about the extent of the excitement!
