I Recovered Quite Nicely, Thank You

Central MN received a cold blast so I did not want to run outside and I just could not motivate myself to go to the gym. I opted to do a Nike Training routine from their app. I choose a more 45 minute advanced level and pushed through. Then did a 15 minute cardio routine.

My muscles were a bit sore the next day, but not as bad as I was expecting them to be. Yeah! I do not want to be sore after my workouts but I do want to get stronger.

    I'm ready for these sub zero temps to go away also.
Good for you on the exercising. I'm sticking with my treadmill and pool. I keep telling myself to add more but time always seems to run out.

    thats the way to do it...don't let the weather stop you from exercising

so how much snow did you get...I think that storm storm just barely miss me...whew...but boy its cold.

Good Things in 2013 to Remember

Here is an idea to do in 2013, make a "Good Things" Jar and when you experience or do something good, write it on a small piece of paper and it in the jar. Then on New Year's Eve, read about all the good things you experienced throughout the year.

I read about this idea on the internet and thought, "What a great way to focus on the positive." Too often the negativity gets all the attention in our minds. For instance, I had a great day yesterday until my daughters got into their usual bickering. And, of course, one of them had to drag me into it. Now, all I can think about is the negativity that happened rather than what a relaxing day I had up to that point.

Amazing how one negative action can wipe out so much positive. So, I think that a Good Things Jar would be a great way to stay focused on the positive and then to remind us that maybe things aren't as bad as we think they are. I am looking forward to seeing that jar fill up with memories of wonderful things.

    Well that is something to give some thought to. Your right it only takes one negative to change ones outcome for the day. Hope you have a fantastic start to 2013 and put loads of positive in your jar.

I sampled a new product called Choffy - roasted cocoa beans. All what I'll say about it is that the jury is still out on it. I am not sure if I like it or not. But it may help me drink less coffee.

I Tried Jeff Galloway's Easy 10k app

I tried the Easy 10k app yesterday and had a strong run. I was late in getting started and did not take the time to check out all the features. I happened to miss the mile per minute pace setting and after my workout I realized it was set for an 18 min/mi.

No wonder there were so many run/walk intervals. My workout was longer than I planned because of that, but it was a good workout. I actually ran a bit faster than I had in the past and was able to maintain that pace on all but two of the run intervals.

The first was when I heard, " Now you are going to run 2 miles"; I did not know if it was to run the full 2 miles or the if the run/walk would continue so I slowed my pace a bit. The other was the last one because I thought there must have been a glitch in the app and the workout was going to go on forever! I was way past the planned mileage and I needed to be somewhere else.

But other than that, I loved using the app. I do so much better when I have a voice telling me what to do. I usually use Todd Lange's (Running Mate Media) or Motion Traxx's podcasts. I cannot wait to try the app outside and see how and if the GPS will work.
