Beginning Beck Diet Solution and other ramblings

Sunday, October 14, 2012

I pulled my book and workbook off the shelf this morning and looking through the workbook, I see I made it to day 6 last time around. emoticon

The one thing that I see that has stuck with me is that every time I make a decision, it always begins with a thought. First I think about doing or not doing something and then I make a decision about the action I take.

Yesterday, was a really bad day of eating for me. I found myself giving the excuse "Tomorrow I start my diet." I must of said if often enough because our conversation became about the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Commercials about starting better behaviors tomorrow. And Scarlett O'Hara's "I'll think about that tomorrow."

The reason I am doing Beck Diet Solution is because I need to take control of the way I think about certain food items. I recognize a couple of items that are my weaknesses and I really want to lessen my desire for these foods because I know they are super unhealthy. I need to change I way I think about these items because I often call them my "downfall"; I want to change it a more positive relationship, which means I will no feel like the victim to these items.

On a more positive note: I am getting ready to do a 5k program from Running Mate Media and found my journal from June 2011 and saw my weight back then was 135.8. Today, I am less than 4 pounds heavier than what I was then. So, I do not feel so bad. I had a memory of weighing a lot less but that must have been when I was on that no carb diet that was so unhealthy due to no starches in the meal plan. That plan had animal product for every meal and snack. I lost a lot of weight but could not sustain that way of eating because I ended up watching "Meet Your Meat" and read "The China Study" and decided that much meat was not a good idea. Also, that was the diet plan which gave my husband kidney stone after kidney stone.

WOW! writing this I just realized now that I have given up on Supermarket meat for three years now! We call our grandson "Stoney" because the day he was born, I was in the hospital with my husband as he was giving "birth" to a kidney stone. Stoney just had his three year birthday.

I guess I can stick with something after all. How about you, have you ever come across an old journal and realize you aren't doing as bad as you thought?

emoticon I think the diet is the hardest part of any weightloss program. I seem to have the exercise part down no problem. Good luck! I know you can do it.

No, my awareness goes in the other direction. lol

So this discovery should be a positive stimulus I think. Good luck with Beck.

I need to get with a program....

Saturday, October 13, 2012

My eating habits are becoming horrendous and I am not consistent with my exercising. Everything seems to be random, like there is no rhyme or reason as to why I am doing anything.

I am starting to gain weight because I am slipping back to old habits and find myself buying and eating candy bars again, not to mention I stocked up on my favorite brownie mix. That is stocked up as in I bought every box they had on the shelf. I did it under the guise of I am going to tweak it and use banana instead of oil and flaxseed in place of the egg. You know, to make it a healthy junk food. emoticon

I think I am going to pull my Beck Diet Solution off the shelf and get back into changing my mindset, I'll combine Eat to Live and McDougall's eating styles, and I will focus on training for the Turkey Run 5k with my granddaughter, if she wants to join me otherwise I'll go solo.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan...

Not sure if I mentioned this to you before (or if it was someone else)but there is a recipie out there (you can probably google it) with all bran and fat free brownie mix. It may be the perfect solution for you! They taste great, are sweet, are good for you, make you feel full, and are only 1 point - weightwatchers. So trade that brownie mix in and get baking!

You're going to make it. Writing about it here shows me that you are ready to really recommit! emoticon

May I suggest the McDougall Maximum Weight Loss Plan? It really helps simplify choices and fills you up.

And keep sharing every day. Telling us how it's going tells you how you're doing. Self awareness is key.

Thanks for posting.

Ok, so you recognize the problem. Now take all of those brownie mixes and box them up and donate them to a food bank. GET THEM OUT OF YOUR HOUSE! If you don't have them you won't eat them. emoticon

Leaves, Leaves, Leaves and More Leaves

Saturday, October 13, 2012

If you follow my blogs, then you know that I have been raking leaves. Well, I think I started too soon because there are just as many leaves on the ground as when I started. I knew it was not the best time to do it but I wanted to get a big pile so we can take pictures of the grandchildren.

Seeing the yard coated with leaves again reminds me of how we often have to do the same tasks over and over. When the task is completed, there will be a season or two and then the cycle starts again.

My son-in-law told me there is a program at the community college and for a fee I can have my yard raked ---- Sign me up!

I miss jumping in the autumn leaves. Not so many in my boring old yard.

Have fun with the grands in the leaves.

Arghhhh!

Friday, October 12, 2012

I want to blog something positive today, but cannot seem to find the words. I am battling with frustration and a bad attitude. I think it is because I am busy with the yard work. We have a wooded lot with red and white oaks. This time of year half of the trees drop their leaves and the other half will drop them in the spring. This means each year I have to rake the yard twice. I'd say it is about 2 acres that we cleared. I think I pushed myself too hard this week and I need a recovery day, both physically and emotionally.

I think I am going to go for a run once it warms up a bit. emoticon

Just think how fortunate you are to be surrounded by such beauty and the benefits from all that raking. We use to live on 3 acres with mostly trees and I so enjoyed being outside and raking and in the evening we'd have a fire going in our outside fire pit, and our kitties would curl up by the fire, I sure miss that. I was having a bad day yesterday so know how you feel, hope your tomorrow is much better.

Hugs,
Shirl

Am doing the same thing. I have a yard full of pecan leaves and branches and have been working on that this week. Am sore in places I did not remember I had. On the bright side all that raking and stooping and gathering burns an amazing amount of calories just check here on spark. It is cardio and strength training in one. Eat something yummy and have a wonderful bubble bath. You have earned it.

sometimes life makes it hard to be positive. . .I too have lots of trees and the raking!!!!

While I'm raking, I try to remember how lovely the trees are the rest of the year and how much I enjoy picnicing or reclining beneath the shade.

I wonder if I ever looked like this while eating

Thursday, October 11, 2012

I was raking the leaves today and it seems I was in way of the chipmunk taking his stash to his nest. He was checking me out and waited for me to get out of his way.

I can relate to that picture. I used to eat like that daily and even worse on holidays when I had my brother egging me on. No wonder I ended up being severely obese.

At least he was stashing his food.

Be well
