Leaves, Leaves, Leaves and More Leaves

Saturday, October 13, 2012

If you follow my blogs, then you know that I have been raking leaves. Well, I think I started too soon because there are just as many leaves on the ground as when I started. I knew it was not the best time to do it but I wanted to get a big pile so we can take pictures of the grandchildren.

Seeing the yard coated with leaves again reminds me of how we often have to do the same tasks over and over. When the task is completed, there will be a season or two and then the cycle starts again.

My son-in-law told me there is a program at the community college and for a fee I can have my yard raked ---- Sign me up!

I miss jumping in the autumn leaves. Not so many in my boring old yard.

Have fun with the grands in the leaves.

I want to blog something positive today, but cannot seem to find the words. I am battling with frustration and a bad attitude. I think it is because I am busy with the yard work. We have a wooded lot with red and white oaks. This time of year half of the trees drop their leaves and the other half will drop them in the spring. This means each year I have to rake the yard twice. I'd say it is about 2 acres that we cleared. I think I pushed myself too hard this week and I need a recovery day, both physically and emotionally.

I think I am going to go for a run once it warms up a bit. emoticon

Just think how fortunate you are to be surrounded by such beauty and the benefits from all that raking. We use to live on 3 acres with mostly trees and I so enjoyed being outside and raking and in the evening we'd have a fire going in our outside fire pit, and our kitties would curl up by the fire, I sure miss that. I was having a bad day yesterday so know how you feel, hope your tomorrow is much better.

know it is no fun raking but it is exercise

Take care and get some rest and run run run

Am doing the same thing. I have a yard full of pecan leaves and branches and have been working on that this week. Am sore in places I did not remember I had. On the bright side all that raking and stooping and gathering burns an amazing amount of calories just check here on spark. It is cardio and strength training in one. Eat something yummy and have a wonderful bubble bath. You have earned it.

sometimes life makes it hard to be positive. . .I too have lots of trees and the raking!!!!

While I'm raking, I try to remember how lovely the trees are the rest of the year and how much I enjoy picnicing or reclining beneath the shade.

I wonder if I ever looked like this while eating

I was raking the leaves today and it seems I was in way of the chipmunk taking his stash to his nest. He was checking me out and waited for me to get out of his way.

Cute picture! It wouldn't be so bad if after we ate like that we all ran up and down trees all day long burning every last calorie off and then some.. emoticon

I can relate to that picture. I used to eat like that daily and even worse on holidays when I had my brother egging me on. No wonder I ended up being severely obese.

At least he was stashing his food.

Be well

Creating Memories

Thursday, October 11, 2012

I am sitting here with the flyer for the Turkey Run 5k on Thanksgiving Day hanging above the computer. I am thinking about signing up for this with one with my granddaughter and then do the 5k101 training program with her. She did so well on the last 5k I ran with her. I am hoping she will enjoy running as she gets older and become my running buddy.

Secretly, though I am hoping if we train together and I try to keep up with her, I am sure to improve my times. emoticon

OK, OK, I know I have an ulterior motive, but today's younger generation is just not active enough and I think of all the things I do with my grandchildren and realize that I have absolutely no memories of doing fun things with my grandparents.

I had lots of fun with my grandchildren this summer and hope that they will form an active lifestyle and remember the fun times we had.

emoticon my son who is now 20 started doing this It hink when he was about 14- and then would leave the keyboards that way. He can type so fast on either but when he left in on Dvorak it drove me and the rest of the family nuts- although it is certainly is another quirky thing I love about my son.
Good Luck!

It is a style of keyboard that makes typing more efficient (less finger movement)
