Improvements I've Noticed

Thursday, March 28, 2013

I have noticed that I have more energy and have more motivation to do things that I neglected in the past. I feel like I stand taller (someone actually told me I looked taller and I replied that I was)! I take the stairs everywhere, no more escalators. I notice that I am also engaging my abs for many day to day activities - help from my pilates class.

Chapter 7

Sunday, February 07, 2010

I signed the pledge. emoticon

I am going to make sure I meet my 5 a day fruit/veggie goal by buying more of a variety. I having been doing the 8+ glasses of water no problem as well as eating breakfast everyday.

I have also worked a way to get 20 mins. of cardio into my days every day, plus I will be doing 20 mins. 2 xs a week with Wii Active to start my strength training.

Have been tracking nutrition daily and have been getting 7-8 hours of sleep nightly as well.

Being a Positive Force

Sunday, January 31, 2010

I found out today that my step-sis has returned to SparkPeople and bought The Spark because I sent her the link to download a chapter. emoticon

I hope some other family members will check out the program too because I worry about them. I am hoping that my experience here will be a positive force to guide them here too.

Hooray for you and your Sis. Sometimes you have to just keep putting the information out there, gently encouraging and getting into their consciousness. The biggest motivation and inspiration for your family will be when you are showing all of those positive changes-unbounding energy, peaches and cream skin, weight loss...
I understand because my family has some genetic predisposition to some illness and I keep on trying to convince them to eat healthier and exercise.
Stay encouraged!

Giving Back

Sunday, January 31, 2010

I have always wanted to volunteer (on a regular basis), haven't yet... but I will. The only thing that comes close is when I participated in the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco in 2007. I trained with a great group of people (Team in Training). I raised over $5,500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. But what was so impressive were all the volunteers and spectators on the sidelines that cheered everyone on, passed out water, gatorade and food and offered support to get me though such a long day. This marathon was in late October and before I got back to NYC I had decided I needed to give something back. I signed up to volunteer 2 weeks later at the NYC marathon to be there for those athletes. I helped set up water/gatorade tables, mixed gatorade and passed it out to the runners/walkers. It felt great being somewhere where I knew I was making a difference for someone. For all I know, I might have handed Lance Armstrong some gatorade emoticon
