Had an awesome time on Spring break last week. Lots of outdoor activity and hiking the scenery was awesome - Hoover Dam/Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, West Rim Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion.
Was not able to do everything we wanted to do because North Rim of Grand Canyon and Cedar Breaks were still closed for winter, a big DUH on my part, but at least that was caught before we tried to get there.
Learned a that a trail description of "tricky rock scramble at the end" was more than I bargained for. Also, learned that fear of heights is a fickle phobia. I had to make myself do the "tricky rock scramble" and my husband and son had no issues. Yet when it came the clear skywalk over the Grand Canyon, I waltzed right on and looked at the interesting view. While hubby and son had to make the long hard walk. On the scramble, it was all it could do not to imagine the broken bones with a slip of foot, yet the bridge didn't bother me because it can hold 10,000 lbs (no issues there).
On the tricky rock scramble a 20-something made my day when I encouraged her that she could do that if I did it and she replied -- No way, you are in way better shape than I am.
All I can say is that all of these parks offered awesome scenery and were all very different. I just love going out west, I just need to remember to go a little bit later in the year so I can do more without the snow.
I will try to get some of the pictures uploaded soon.
