New Milestones – new measurements

Sunday, September 01, 2013

I’ve now lost 66 pounds!!!!! I just might get to my summer goal of 350 yet! 10 pounds to go!! Thought you might be interested in my workout routine.

I am doing my workout each day – I do the 55 minute version of Turbo Chair Workout (kindly sent to me by Paul Eugene), - here is the 22 minute version –

then I do 10 minutes of pedal exercise,

then I do the 9 minute seated upper body workout by coach Nicole.

Then to finish up I do several strength exercises with my dumbbells takes about 1 or 2 minutes each one

To some this might seem excessive but it works real well for me.

At least once a week I add a 20 minute seated resistance band workout.

At least once a week I do coach Nicole’s seated core workout.

I also walk most every day –between 10 minutes and 1 hour depending on how I feel.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Every now and then – not a set schedule – I use my shake weight

takes me about two hours to work out – not counting my walk – I realize not everyone has this kind of time to devote to exercise….I am disabled so I am home all day, and able to workout pretty much whenever I want to – the only thing that interferes is Daddy’s cancer therapies. But Daddy is worth it!

New measurements taken 8-31-13

Inches lost since last measurements from 7-30-13

Waist = loss of 10.25 inches!!!!!! No wonder my pants are falling down!
Hips = loss of 5.50 inches
Neck = loss of 1.5 inches
Thigh = loss of 2.25 inches
Calf = loss of 0.5 inches
Upper arm = loss of 0.5 inches
Bust = loss of 0.75 inches

Everyone have a great day!

OH MY GOSH!!! You Rock!!! I know that some people may say it's extreme, but if it works for you, it isn't, extreme!!! I'm going to start doing some of those exercises that you have on your blog. I do walk everyday. We, God and I, are on 11 laps around our loop, which gives me approximately 2.6 miles. Then I do some 10 minute videos, and some challenges that I'm involved in and I call it a day. However, I love what I see you doing, and I love the results, too.

Thanks for sharing,

Be blessed,

Doing what you NEED to do in order to get to where you want to be - doesn't seem excessive to me - of course, I work out in the pool for about 3 hours each day AFTER my full-time job. I have a goal and am really working to get healthy and I am worth the effort and SO ARE YOU. You are a true inspiration and I appreciate your sharing your workout routines with us.

Workout Motivation – Duct tape?

Monday, August 26, 2013

Today I did NOT want to workout. I decided I was not going to. Then I felt guilty and FAT. I finally talked myself into starting my workout. You know what? – Once I started I loved it. I even did a little extra today. I think we all have days when we simply do not want to workout. I’ll tell you one of my little secrets into getting started.

This idea came from my quitting smoking. Every time I wanted a cigarette I would picture this little demon called the nicodemon sitting on my shoulder telling me to smoke. I would picture myself taping this little jerk up with duct tape!

I apply the same little mind game to my workouts. There is this weak little jerk that sits on my shoulder and tells me I don’t have to workout today…that I don’t need to…that I can do it tomorrow. He keeps up a constant stream of this defeating talk. He doesn’t want me to become strong and healthy because then he won’t have a job! Once I realize where all the talk is coming from, I simply grab my duct tape and tape the jerk up! That shuts him up so I can get my workout in!!!!

So here is some duct tape – proven to work well with nicodemons and workout demons!

Member Comments About This Blog Post:

I am thinking maybe duct taping my hand held weights or one of my resistance bands to my shirt might actually work. I just can't remove them from my shirt until have used them for the day! emoticon emoticon or maybe just tape my balance ball to my back side emoticon emoticon

And THANK YOU for spelling it correctly. "Duck tape" is one of my pet peeves.

Small Victory!

Saturday, August 24, 2013

You know that dang black truck I keep talking about. Well...I still don't fit in the drivers seat....BUT the passenger side seat belt FITS me and is LOOSE!!!!!! Used to have to really struggle and "suck it in" to get it buckled and hubby had to buckle it..I couldn't do it. But today after James got the transmission fixed we took it for a test drive and I hooked the seat belt with ease and with room to spare...made me so happy!!!

Wish the truck had a tilt steering wheel...then I would fit in the drivers seat. Oh Well, it is one of my big goals and I will keep pushing towards it!!!!

Neat Reasons to lose weight!

Thursday, August 22, 2013

I've kept this list on my personal website for many years (wildkat781.com)
It was made by me and a group of my friends many years ago. It is long but I hope you enjoy and I think you can probably relate to at least a few

1. To feel better about myself.
2. To increase my feelings of self worth.
3. To be able to run and jump without worrying about hurting myself.
4. To look good in a tight dress.
5. To be able to wear shorts in the summer.
6. To be able to go swimming without being self-conscious.
7. To feel I can go swimming at all!
8. To be able to run with my grandchildren
9. To be healthier.
10. To not have fear going to the doctors, because he'll make me get on a scale.
11. To be able to wear a bra that actually fits.
12. To not worry about lawn chairs breaking.
13. To not worry about where to sit at a picnic or on an airplane.
14. To not get "those looks" at a restaurant, even when eating normal food.
15. So my ankles don't puff up and look like there's half a tennis ball on each side.
16. To be able to use a public washroom comfortably.
17. To be able to go into any store, and buy the clothes I like, not just the ones that fit.
18. To not feel awkward about going clothes shopping, or shoe shopping.
19. To be able to order clothes from a catalogue without worrying if they will fit.
20. To be able to wear something that doesn’t say PLUS on it.
21. To reduce my blood pressure.
22. So I can feel comfortable.
23. So I can run on the beach in a bathing suit and feel proud.
24. So taking a bath is a luxurious thing, instead of taking a shower so I won't risk overflowing the tub.
25. So my pants won't wear out between my legs while the rest of them are still in good shape.
26. I want to be able to read the scale by just looking down, straight down.
27. I don't ever want to feel my fat jiggle again!
28. So I can look in the mirror from the neck down and like what I see.
29. To feel strong and fit again.
30. So I can show off my muscles, instead of just feeling fat.
31. So I can play with my dog again!
32. So I can drive my car and feel comfortable.
33. So I don't feel like I'm always leaning back while sitting in a chair, because of my butt.
34. So I can walk up a flight of stairs and not feel winded.
35. So I can wear tight jeans.
36. So I can get up and dance and not feel weird.
37. So I can go on rides at amusement parks again, without stuffing myself into the seat shamefully.
38. So I don't have to worry about the maximum weight an exercise machine can take before I use it.
39. I want to deprive my cats of a perching spot on my chest because it’s too small.
40. So I don't get that pitying look when I go to a gym to work out.
41. So I can lay outside and suntan on my front lawn if I want.
42. I want to wear underwear that looks cute and dainty, not something industrial.
43. So I can buy lingerie that fits, and looks good.
44. So I can buy lingerie without getting weird looks from store clerks or other customers.
45. I want to be able to at least consider entering a triathlon and have it be a possibility.
46. So getting dressed every morning is a joy and not a dreaded chore.
47. So I can pick the haircut I really want and not just one that is for fat people.
48. So I'm when people start talking about weight loss, I don't feel they mean me.
49. So no one ever calls me "a big girl" ever again.
50. So I'm not embarrassed to have my picture taken.
51. So when my photo is taken with my family I don't have to groan inside myself as I know how terrible I am going to make the family picture look.
52. So I don't get those indents on my thighs from the arms of the chair I'm sitting in.
53. So I can cross my legs.
54. So I can walk in heels without fear.
55. So I can put my jeans in the dryer, have a shower, get out of the shower, walk to the dryer and just pull my jeans on, instead of waiting to really, really dry off and then fight to get the zipper up.
56. So I can put my clothes in the dryer and forget to check the timer, and not worry about them fitting.
57. So my bras don't stretch on the sides, or get pulled seams.
58. So I can crawl around on the floor hooking up computer cables without wondering how bad I look.
59. So I can look in a full-length mirror with pride, instead of despair.
60. So I can get up from the floor in one smooth move and not a grab and hold on to something move.
61. So I can get on with my life!!!!!!!!!!!!
62. So those stupid gowns at the doctors or chiropractors not only fit, but also are too big.
63. So I can show off my legs, instead of monster ham thighs.
64. So I can look good in a business suit or a short skirt, instead of always wearing loose clothing.
65. So my back doesn't hurt so much.
66. So I can lie in bed, look down and see my toes without lifting my head off the pillow.
67. So I don't have to worry about what fits in the closet and what doesn't.
68. So I don't have to worry about the seasons changing, and will my summer/winter clothes still fit.
69. So I don't fear the onset of summer and light clothing.
70. So I don't crave wintertime, so I can hide under big jackets and sweaters.
71. So I don't think mean thoughts when I see skinny women.
72. So my doctor will never say, "you really need to lose some weight" to me ever again, but instead says nothing more than "see you next year".
73. So no one will ever again ask me "when is your baby due", and I'm not pregnant.
74. So people in the supermarket don't look in my cart when they think I'm not looking, to see what a "fat person" eats.
75. So I look lean, mean and powerful.
76. So I can say my weight out loud with pride.
77. So the old pictures of the fat lady at the circus don't look like me.
78. So I can say to other people who are overweight, hey, I was there once too, and maybe help them get to where they want to be.
79. So I don't wonder if people are saying, "what is HE doing with HER "? (My honey is skinny and can eat anything)
80. So I don't have to worry about my bathroom scales breaking.
81. So I am in control of what exercise I choose and not what I am able to do as of being so over weight.
82. So I don't have to give excuses for being over weight.
83. So I can shave my legs in a shower without gashing myself because I can't see around my fat.
84. So I can ride a horse again!
85. So I can go out fishing with friends, and not be scared to walk inside the boat because I'm so heavy I will tip it.
86. To be able to go canoeing, and my end doesn't sink real low while the other person is almost in the air.
87. So my Grandchildren never remember me as fat.
88. So I can stand up in a boat again, with balance and grace, instead of hanging onto the sides and wondering how I'll get back in if I fall out.
89. So I can boat out to the middle of a lake and go swimming, and be able to pull myself back in the boat.
90. No more "beached whale" comments, anywhere.
91. So I can go into public and not care what type of looks I get.
92. So I can sit on a bar stool and I'm actually sitting ON it, not on it and around it too.
93. So a regular towel goes all the way around me, and maybe even looks cute.
94. So my socks pull all the way up.
95. So I can hug my knees to my chest again, and it’s comfortable.
96. So I can sit on a chair, and have my feet on that chair too, and not be sitting on them.
97. So I can wear a low cut sweater and my collarbones show.
98. So I can wear a light blouse or sweater, and there aren't dents where my bra straps are.
99. So I don't have to worry about arthritis or joint replacement when I get older.
100. So furniture doesn't groan when I sit on it, or wear out long before it should because I'm too heavy.
101. So I never have to look at someone else with envy again, thinking, "Wow, I wish I was that thin".
102. I want to lose weight so that my breasts stick out more than my stomach and not the other way around.
103. I can sit comfortably in the lawn chair all the way instead of sitting on the edge and the arms
pinching me.
104. I can fit into the theatre seats comfortably.
105. I can sit at the booth OR table in the restaurant. I don't have to be embarrassed because I need a
106. I can look straight down and see my toes instead of bending over to see them.

Frustrating Plateau

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Well – I haven’t lost any weight since July 30th. That’s 16 days! I am not happy. I am eating the same way as I always do and I am working out every day! (TMI alert = I have been constipated for nearly two weeks…just going enough to keep me from going to the doctor – so that could have something to do with it)

I know plateaus are normal…I know I will eventually get past this, but it is so frustrating right now.

I have not gained any weight – for that I am grateful. I will continue my routine and wait this out. I WILL get past this and continue losing weight. I just have to keep at it and keep my motivation up.

Hope you are all having a great day

edit = 8-17-13 = It seems the plateau is over for now...I finally lost a pound!

congrats on the pound. That is great . When I can't go to the bathroom eating corn helps me. Keep on going and the weight will come off. Sometimes losing it slow is good because it doesn't find its way home again. Pam

Thank you for the lovely images - I have frequent plateaus - went the entire month of June with only a .2 weight loss - keep in mind, I ate healthy, stayed in my ranges and balance of fat, carbs, and protein, exercised a LOT, did strength training and aerobics, and STILL lost .2 pounds. July, improved greatly, and now I am continuing my slow but steady pace. Constipation can REALLY be a factor and building muscle can too - frustrating but your attitude is wonderful and I try to remember that my weight loss tends to occur in a pretty erratic pattern. You will see the loss before long.

Be sure you are eating enough fiber AND drinking enough water. Some things get me moving (tomatoes with skins and prunes are 2)
Also you have been under a lot of stress with your dad. That also makes a difference. Hang in there and you know it will move. emoticon emoticon emoticon

    I feel for ya!

I am there myself - my weight fluctuates in the same range - back to my start weight of the last month. emoticon

Lots of good advice here. More fruits and veggies, less grains and lots of water should help.

I find that a change in eating habits occasionally helps to move that scale. Your body gets used to things quickly.

You will get past this!

Sorry to hear about your plateau, they can be so frustrating. Try Dulcolax for your constipation. I have used it in the past and it was very "gentle" on my system. This may not be the best suggestion but it has always worked for me in the past when I hit a plateau. Up your calories for a day or two then drop them back down to what you are currently eating. Sometimes that seems to re-jumpstart your weight loss. You may also want to switch up your workout routine. Your body gets used to what you are eating and what activites you do so it resets itself as if that is normal and not weight loss mode. Make some changes in your eating and exercising and you should see the scale start to move again. Oh, and are you taking your measurments? Sometimes it's not the number on the scale you see changing but the number on your measuring tape. Keep your head up! You WILL overcome this plateau!!

Constipation has a lot to do with it. Are you eating enough grains and freggies? Water is important to with that particular issue. I have stuggled with this as well. I hope you are able to void soon. You can do this as you have been doing amazing. Let me know if you need anything. I have 2 adult children with Spina Bifida and we struggle with constipation every day. So I might have some suggestions that could work for you too. Paula~

That commitment and determination of yours? It will carry you far my friend! Just hang in there a little while longer and that scale will start to drop, drop, drop when you lease except it. In the meantime, might I suggest measuring yourself? When we don't see improvement on the scale, we almost always find it on the tape measure. emoticon

Sorry to hear about your "issue", and I'm sure that has a lot to do with your plateau. I hope your problem is resolved soon, that must be quite uncomfortable. As far as the plateau, I know that you will hang in there and get through it....before you know it, the weight will start going down again. emoticon

You know you are doing all the right things so just hang in there. One day you will weigh in and find overnight you've lost 5lb! Are you drinking enough fluids? People are right about the sodium, it makes me bloated if I eat too much salt. Love the pictures. The one of the yellow fat certainly gives us incentive to keep going. Just imagine what our insides look like ? So come on you know you can do this, you know how far you've come. There's no rush, it's for life. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Try to be sure to eat fiber rich foods.
Hoping the scale goes down soon.
Watch sodium as it makes me bloat
and not lose weight and I like that salt.

Try a stool softener such as fiber lax which is sold over the counter and helps keep me regular

You are a great motivator! Did you check to see if maybe you are getting too much sodium? Usually when I've been good and the scale doesn't move I find sodium is the culprit.
