Home from hospital

Thursday, September 12, 2013

Thank you all for the well wishes while I was in the hospital!

Doctor said it was stress induced chest wall pain and that there is nothing wrong with my heart!

So...while I was in the hospital, Daddy started a new round of chemo. He is doing pretty good with it. Hubby James had to have a small cyst cut out of his back yesterday. I should have been with him, and feel guilty that I was not. But I was still in the hospital when he had the appointment. He is a little under the weather this morning. (numbing medicine always seems to make him sick for a day or so)

On the bright side - I lost another pound! whhoooo hhoooo!!!!

emoticon

Oh - and another NSV that happened the day before I went into the hospital. My knee brace no longer fits! It is too big!!!! Had to order a new one in a smaller size.

emoticon

Bye till next time - Hugs to all!

Great NSV for you. I think you are doing such a fantastic job. emoticon emoticon

    Sounds great, glad your home, glad hubby made it through cyst removal on his own, okay. Sounds like your dad is handling chemo, with his head held high. You hang in there, there is a lot on your plate right now (not talking about a lot of food) but know you knew that. lol

Well since I mentioned plate, I am using a bread and butter plate for meals that don't require a bowl. This feels good to me, as my large plates are quite heavy. I am planning on cooking several things at once today. I took advantage of the BOGO free, so I have 2 sirloin tip roast to prepare and since I packed my slow cooker will be using the oven. So will also cook baked sweet potatoes,onions and mushrooms, flaxseed bread,and possible one or two more meats to cook ahead and portion and freeze and use when needed.

Wishing you a wonderful week, we can do this!
Hugs

    emoticon and prayers for you, that God already took care of everything and you'll just end up getting a checkup.

The only thing that you should really remember about the stress test, is that when they have you walking on that treadmill, DON'T LOOK DOWN!!! They want you to stare straight ahead at what ever is in front of you, as it alters the test, if you put your head down. I had a hard time with that, as I was always reading while I was on the treadmill, which made my head go down, and each time I did that they would HOLLER, "Look straight ahead!!!" I know that you're A OK and everything is in divine order!!!

Be blessed,

The Black Truck

Friday, September 06, 2013

Yea – I did it. I can drive it! It’s still a VERY tight fit. I’m kind of smushed in there. BUT I FIT! It can only get better from here. My belly still is mushed up in the truck but my legs go under the steering wheel now with a little room to spare. I’m so happy!!!!!!!

My next goal for the black truck is for my belly not to touch the steering wheel….that one is going to take a while, but I will make it!

New Milestones – new measurements

Sunday, September 01, 2013

I’ve now lost 66 pounds!!!!! I just might get to my summer goal of 350 yet! 10 pounds to go!! Thought you might be interested in my workout routine.

I am doing my workout each day – I do the 55 minute version of Turbo Chair Workout (kindly sent to me by Paul Eugene), - here is the 22 minute version –

www.chairfitnessworkouts.com/

then I do 10 minutes of pedal exercise,

then I do the 9 minute seated upper body workout by coach Nicole.

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/videos-
detail.asp?video=39

Then to finish up I do several strength exercises with my dumbbells takes about 1 or 2 minutes each one

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/exercis
es.asp?exercise=42

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/exercis
es.asp?exercise=69

www.youtube.com/watch?v=COUFpuWxXMQ

To some this might seem excessive but it works real well for me.

At least once a week I add a 20 minute seated resistance band workout.

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/videos-
detail.asp?video=99

At least once a week I do coach Nicole’s seated core workout.

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/videos-
detail.asp?video=42

I also walk most every day –between 10 minutes and 1 hour depending on how I feel.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Every now and then – not a set schedule – I use my shake weight

player.vimeo.com/video/24286519

takes me about two hours to work out – not counting my walk – I realize not everyone has this kind of time to devote to exercise….I am disabled so I am home all day, and able to workout pretty much whenever I want to – the only thing that interferes is Daddy’s cancer therapies. But Daddy is worth it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New measurements taken 8-31-13
Inches lost since last measurements from 7-30-13
Waist = loss of 10.25 inches!!!!!! No wonder my pants are falling down!
Hips = loss of 5.50 inches
Neck = loss of 1.5 inches
Thigh = loss of 2.25 inches
Calf = loss of 0.5 inches
Upper arm = loss of 0.5 inches
Bust = loss of 0.75 inches
Everyone have a great day!
I do walk everyday. We, God and I, are on 11 laps around our loop, which gives me approximately 2.6 miles. Then I do some 10 minute videos, and some challenges that I'm involved in and I call it a day. However, I love what I see you doing, and I love the results, too.
Thanks for sharing,
    I don't think it is excessive and WHAT a wonderful blog!! When we were younger, we could stay active for hours and do great. Then, as we get older, we stop that so I think what you have is wonderful and GOOD FOR YOU!! emoticon emoticon
Workout Motivation – Duct tape?
Monday, August 26, 2013
Today I did NOT want to workout. I decided I was not going to. Then I felt guilty and FAT. I finally talked myself into starting my workout. You know what? – Once I started I loved it. I even did a little extra today. I think we all have days when we simply do not want to workout. I’ll tell you one of my little secrets into getting started.
This idea came from my quitting smoking. Every time I wanted a cigarette I would picture this little demon called the nicodemon sitting on my shoulder telling me to smoke. I would picture myself taping this little jerk up with duct tape!
I apply the same little mind game to my workouts. There is this weak little jerk that sits on my shoulder and tells me I don’t have to workout today…that I don’t need to…that I can do it tomorrow. He keeps up a constant stream of this defeating talk. He doesn’t want me to become strong and healthy because then he won’t have a job! Once I realize where all the talk is coming from, I simply grab my duct tape and tape the jerk up! That shuts him up so I can get my workout in!!!!
So here is some duct tape – proven to work well with nicodemons and workout demons!
    I am thinking maybe duct taping my hand held weights or one of my resistance bands to my shirt might actually work. I just can't remove them from my shirt until have used them for the day! emoticon emoticon or maybe just tape my balance ball to my back side emoticon emoticon
    Duct tape sounds great My goal is to get to the Y at least three times a week. Tomorrow I am going to go after I have my doctor's appt. I was going to go today but something told me not to and when Jeff pulled the line out of his port for his chemo I was glad that I was home. emoticon
    I love this blog! What a fantastic visualization. The meadows and flowers thing never really worked for me, but duct tape I can deal with.
And THANK YOU for spelling it correctly. "Duck tape" is one of my pet peeves.
    You know this just might work for me. I always make excuses to not exercise. emoticon now as well as your hundred or so reasons for losing weight you should list a hundred uses for duct tape.
