Shopping Trip & a new goal

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

I went to a JC Penny outlet store yesterday and found some really nice clothes for both my husband and me. That's the shopping trip part.

As I was driving home I was thinking about my purchases and how I need to get rid of some "old" clothes. I read somewhere about a woman who gets rid of one piece of clothing for every new item she buys. In that way she doesn't get a build up of clothes that are never worn.

What I am determined to do is get rid of at LEAST 3 items of every one thing I buy, whether it is new or used. (I LOVE the thrift stores!) For instance, if I buy a blouse, I am going to get rid of 3 tops. If I buy a pair of pant, 3 will be donated to charity.

Hopefully by doing this I will get rid of the "someday" clothes which, let's face it, will never get worn and have some that I will actually wear.

Wish me luck!

Question - are the someday clothes ones that are too small that you dont think you will ever fit into? If so, keep some - if there size is a realistic goal. DO get rid of all of your too big clothes - as soon as they are too big - hanging on to them is like hanging on to our own "baggage" and they leave you with the feeling that it is ok to go back. Burn those bad boys - donate them (keep your receipts - great write off).... On move on.

Out with the old - in with the new - and on to the new you

Who knew that a Vegas wedding would last 20 years?

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Yep, that's right. Today is our 20 year anniversary. Where has the time gone? When I think of all the places we have been and the struggles we have gone through, I am just amazed that we survived! It was a true committment for both of us.

He makes me laugh more now than when we were first married. He is my rock.

Happy anniversary honey - I love you.

(And for those of you who don't know. My husband's Spark ID is Gunny57 and so far he's lost 39lbs with Spark!)

As the saying goes it's not the destination that counts but the journey. Our journey has been quite an adventure and we still have many, many miles to go. I could never have found a better travel companion than you. Happy anniversary to you and I love you too. emoticon

Congratulations on 20 years. That is fantastic. We will be 35 this August and I love him more today than I did back then.

My brother-in-law got married in Vegas, and they are going to be married 30 years this year I think. It's 29 or 30.

Hey congrats on your 20 years! We have our 34th coming up June 12. And that week we will be in Las Vegas (I'm speaking at a conference and my spouse is coming along for fun). Soo...things do last.

Best wishes.

Believe it or not my lifestyle IS slowly changing

Friday, May 21, 2010

Yeah, I may not be there yet. As a matter of fact, who knows if I will ever get there (or even where "there" is) but I do know that I am on my way.

Since my husband found a new job (Woo Hoo!) he has been getting home much later than me and when possible, we eat supper together. So, yesterday I knew I had about an hour or two to wait until he got home before we could eat and I was hungry!

Hmmmm, what to do? What to do?

Do I sit and watch TV until he gets home? Nope - that got rejected right away since I am so good at eating while I watch TV.

Ah ha! I am going to setup our new Wii balance board that came in earlier in the week. I was going to wait until today to set it up, but why not now? Well, I got it setup and then started "playing". What a hoot!

Before I knew it, I was working up a sweat and my husband was home. For me, this was somewhat of a miracle in 2 ways.
1. I NEVER exercise at the end of the day, I am a morning person!
2. I did not mindlessly eat when someone wasn't around. I was able to "distract" myself and I got to enjoy supper with my husband.

Small steps.....
