Looking Forward to June 2013

Friday, September 14, 2012

I work for a company that provides services to adults and children with intellectual disabilities.

In June 2013 they are having a 5k run/walk it is called "Color Me Rad"and it benefits Special Olympics Philadelphia

Below is the link to the web site

If you're allergic to the metric system, corn starch, or unbridled joy, you'd probably be more comfortable watching Matlock than at the starting blocks of this color-filled 5k.

But if you're itching for a great time and not from a bad case of diaper rash, Color Me Rad Philadelphia is the run for you.

Race Details

Color Me Rad Philadelphia takes place at Fairmount Park in June and benefits Special Olympics Philadelphia. Click on the tab that says "Charity Partner" to find out more about what they're doing.

The Color Bombs start flying at 8 am with waves of runners getting plastered with paint every 5 minutes after. You'll end up looking like a kindergarten art class gone wrong... but the Art of Running will make you feel oh so right.

Don't forget to LIKE us on for race updates and to win sweet stuff: Camelbaks, running shoes, hoodies, free entries.

Requirement you must wear white!

Just like at Christmas and birthdays, 'tis better to give than receive... right? I know that's a hard one to swallow for 8 year olds, but in this case, it might be true. If you want to pummel your friends and family with color rather than be pummeled, sign up HERE to volunteer and join the COLOR BOMB SQUAD.

So quit lollygagging and join us for the Most Colorful 5K You'll Ever Run at Color Me Rad Philadelphia.

It looks like a blast I know I'm in. I already asked for information to be sent for next year.

Remeber it's for a good cause and a good way to help us all get in shape.

Have a sparktacular day

A new adventure!

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Well I thought of a new adventure that I would like to try

Its called indoor sky diving

But to do it there are some weight guidelines

•Women Over 6'0" 200 lbs. max. (over 182cm 91kg max)
•Between 5'6" & 6'0" 180 lbs. max. (171cm & 182cm 82kg max)
•Women Under 5'6" 160 lbs. max. (under 170cm 73kg max)

So with that being said I think I better kick up the cardio just a bit so I can possibly reach this goal at least by the time I am 50. I want to look good in that suit HA HA!

So who's with me???

Have a sparktacular day

Walking with my yellow dogs tonight (Hugs and Kisses)

Kisses on the left Hugs in the middle and Harley the flat coat retriever

heading out for my second mile with Hugs, when a nice old lady with a small dog wanted to come over and meet "Hugs" I tried to explained to her that she doesn't do well with small dog. So she continued on, next thing I know here comes the little dog running up to me and Hugs, Little dog takes off to the right Hugs follows, Me I end up on the ground with two dogs, a bloody knee and a scrapped arm.

Gotta love people who can't control their dogs.

I did finish my walk but hurt to much to go for mile # 3

Keep the spark

@PAMNANGEL I have nothing against small dogs, my best friend has 4. I am more annoyed with the owner for not controlling her pet. I am just glad I was able to catch the little dog for the elderly women. I didn't want her dog to get lost or even hit by a car.

Don't blame the little dogs. People annoy the heck out of me. Especially people who don't take responsibility for themselves or their animals/kids. Regardless of size all my dogs have been expected to have good manners. When I adopted an 8 year old Maltese who had never had any kind of training, we went to classes. Angel became a novice obedience graduate, earned his CGC and became a registered therapy dog. Sorry, starting to rant. Got big issues with people who think little dogs don't need obedience training. Can you tell?

Well it seems like I just need to ride in a rain storm

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

One of my goals for August is to ride with my spark sisters and be able to keep up HA HA ( they are monsters at bike riding)

Yesterday we had planned to go for a bike ride but throughout the day the skies would open up and we would have a torrential down pour. The weather cleared so we decided to head to the park (hoping to meet up with our spark sister Kathy (KALANTHA)). Just as we got there here came the rain. We decided to go for it anyway. Oh Boy did it rain!

Well it seems like I just need to ride in a rain storm because I managed to complete 10 miles in 56 minutes that would be my fastest ride. I managed to keep my speed between 12.9 and 13.8 Whew that's a big accomplishment for me.

I'm hoping I can keep that speed and increase it in the near future.

Here's me after the ride

Soaked to the underwear

Have a Sparktacular day

Great ride, Meliss! Keep pedaling and strength training and your speed will improve. Keep challenging yourself. You're on the right track!

Way to go!

This made me want to ride my bike in a rainstorm too. Might have to wait a few months until it rains here in Spain though...
