wanted to come home and pig out on UTZ BBQ chips
I was thinking about it at school
I came home and went upstairs and thought it over
and then I went downstairs to the kitchen
I had me a nice bowl of spinach salad with some lite Italian dressing- and it was good!!
Progress is being made, even by one simple choice!
you know you want those chips
eat the salad, it's good for you and tasty too!
Today I listened to the little angel on my shoulder

This is just a random thought that popped in my head but you know when you look at weight loss success stories of people (particularly those who lost a lot of weight) you wonder: "how did they do it? how did they get there?"
because they always looks so amazing in their "after" pictures!
But it always boils down to one thing: eating less and moving more.
But here's what I learned from when I was losing weight:
when you eat less and exercise more, you lose weight
when you eat more and don't exercise, you'll gain weight
I know, I'm repeating stuff that we've heard our whole lives
but that's it
and it seems so simple when typing it
but then you realize
there's a heck of a lot more to weight loss than people realize!
like staying motivated, or planning, or consciously deciding what you're going to eat
it's a whole lot of mental- is it all psychological??
I don't know
I overthink too much sometimes
But of course there's more to everyone's weight loss journeys
so here's more about what worked for me:
setting small weekly goals (and accomplishing them!)
thinking positive thoughts, like "I've got this!" and "I can do this!" and "I'm on the right track!"
weighing myself every two weeks (there's something about seeing the numbers going down on the scale)
trying new foods and recipes (it's fun!)
not eating fast food so much, but when doing so choosing healthier foods
drinking water and only water!
also initially cutting out pizza, reese's, and coke altogether (I felt so accomplished!)
journaling- my food, when I exercised, what I did because when you look back you can see how much you've grown and changed, and it makes you feel good about yourself
walking and then jogging and even going for bike rides
also just realizing that this was a journey- it wasn't going to happen overnight and it would take time
I know, it's like "well if you did that then why aren't you now?"
I could use my own advice! lol
I just started overeating and not exercising and then BAM all the weight piled back on and then some more and I just blew it- blew everything (sorry I know I've said this stuff before)
but here's what I'm going to do differently- really get into this journey
taking before pictures, making videos, journaling, posting inspirational quotes and pictures in my room, getting more involved with all that Sparkpeople has to offer- and it offers a lot!
Because when you live, you learn

It's time to stop
to stop eating fast food
to stop buying junk food
to stop thinking about food
to stop treating food like it's my best friend in the whole wide world
to stop running to food because I'm bored or just because I want to eat
to stop dwelling on the past and all the mistakes I've made
to make a choice
and I've got two choices:
1) I can stay this way, keep gaining weight and feeling even worse about myself, hoping and waiting for something to happen or waiting for that 'aha' moment
2) I can make that change. A healthy lifestyle change. One that requires patience, perseverance, effort, time, planning, purpose, and sacrifice. A choice that seems so insurmountable, hard and unattainable at the moment.
But if I stay stuck, stuck in this place and in this state of mind for the rest of my life, then what will I learn?
How will I grow?
How will I make a difference?
How will I know what's out there for me if I don't take that first step, if I don't get out there, if I don't even try?
It's time to stop saying and start doing-for real.
