Out of the Overweight BMI

I am officially moving out of the overweight BMI, which, for someone 5'3 is 141 lb. I weighed in at 138.5 this morning! emoticon emoticon

I am so happy to actually be sticking to something. This is seriously the longest I have kept to a diet. Despite my bout with the flu last week, where I DID stray a bit to help get better quicker, I still got right back on track and lost 1.5 more lb. since then!

    This is Fantastic!! Last week I learned at the Dr's office that I'm actually 5'5"...my whole adult life I thought I was 5'3" possibly 5'4"...So I've been teetering on the Overweight/healthy line for 18 months! It's been driving me nuts! Only to learn my true height and that I'm in the healthy range the whole time! WOO!! It is a great feeling! WTG on all your hard work!

Plateau Busted!

I finally beat through the plateau I've been struggling with for nearly a week! I am at 139.5 lb. this morning! emoticon

I am so happy. I hope this will be the start of a nice, downward trend. I had actually gained a pound since I was 140.5, so I went back to 141.5 and stayed there for several days. I am now 139.5 lb and I feel so good. I strayed on Atkins when I was sick, hoping the carbs would soak up the sickness! But that didn't work, plus it stalled my weight loss.

This IS going to be more like me this summer! This time feels different.

Eating Out on Atkins.

Well, I am back on track with Atkins. I feel all better from my recent bout with the flu. I even feel up to exercising today! I have had several days off from work, and I feel rejuvenated!

I went out to dinner last night and managed to avoid the plate of bacon cheese fries (and I have had them before - they are so darn good) and other fried things (think: onion rings and cheese sticks). I had a burger with no bun, with cheese, and a nice sized salad with 2 tbsp. ranch and a sprinkling of cheese. I mashed my burger onto some napkins to sop up most of the grease. My husband ate one with the bun, but it looked like a dang waterfall coming out when he cut it in half. Grease burger! It tasted good, though!

It was really easy to eat out on Atkins. That is so great! I also seem to stay within my calorie ranges, despite what I am eating!

I had a dream that I ate two cloves of garlic, raw and cut up. I woke up and taste garlic. The burger taste is still here! Yuck. I have brushed my teeth twice since I ate it. At any rate, I think I may opt for a chicken salad next time.

Hello, April!

Well, I haven't made a blog entry in several days. I have had some kind of stomach flu (yay, it was amazing). It has been horrible! I went off Atkins a bit, like eating 80 carbs for the past two days, and now I am better today. I am back on induction. I didn't gain weight, even though I had a milkshake yesterday. I was so sick yesterday, I was afraid to eat anything! Luckily, after about 9 pm last night, I am seemingly better. I will see what happens when I eat solid food.

I have some time off work, so that is good. I don't have to work until Thursday. I really needed the time off - I have had this flu thing since last Thursday, and I worked during a couple days of it and it was terrible.

Day 5.

This is day 5 of Atkins for me. So far, it is still going great! I beat my 4 day limit on sticking to a diet. I have officially entered into day 5, baby! I haven't strayed in this period, and that is a personal record for me for the last several years. emoticon

emoticon I am trying to up my fiber intake each day by including higher fiber veggies. I am eating more fresh veggies than I ever do! I realize I was getting all my fiber from grains -whole grains, but still, grains! I was struggling to get even 5 grams in the first couple of days. I am up to 10 grams now just from 2 or 3 cups of fresh veggies. I read more online and, apparently, after the 1992 book I have, there were two more and now the followers of Atkins are counting "net carbs" instead of straight out carbohydrates. I can subtract the fiber and end eating more than 20 carbs per day, as long as the "net carbs" are 20 or less.

Only 9 more days of "Induction" left. I am already down 5 lb! I am officially back to my original highest weight! Hah, but seriously. I started the 5% Challenge at 146.5 (and just weeks before, 149) and I couldn't shake it all this time. Now, PRESTO! 5 days later, 5 pounds lighter! YAY!

    My wife smokes and is slowly quitting, so *I* understand how life is for EVERYONE ELSE when someone has quit/is quitting! LOL Seriously, Congrats! On both. Keep me posted on the Atkins. My brother used it, lost a hundred fast, put is back on and more. I recently heard of using high protein no carbs for 2 days then good carbs on day three and so forth....so I'm thinking and open!

I am not so sure about the health side of your diet thou. But as long as you feel all right I guess it`s safe. For me that is always a sign of good health- FEELING GOOD emoticon

    I had terrible constipation for about a month after starting the Atkins diet. The book reccomends metamucil and it helps to fix that problem.

I am glad I found your blog. 5 days...woohoo! and 2 weeks for no smokes, yippee!!! I was a smoker myself so I understand what these last two weeks have been for you. The diet brings a new focus, the timing is good! You will do great. I am on Day 6 of Atkins, looking forward to seeing those pounds shed too! Keep going girl!
